 Lounging in the sun, Nadine couldn't help but feel the laziness that the sun fed into her. She'd fed recently, and so there was nothing pressing to do but enjoy herself. Nadine relished these times, as she truly felt more at peace with herself when the stressers were gone. She could go another two days without eating, so she had time to play.
Wondering whether she should get up and walk down to the lake, Nadine swatted at a butterfly flying over her. Not really trying for it, it whisked away quickly, giving the lioness a chuckle. Giving a stretch, she rolled to her side and began to slowly purr involuntarily.

 Ashoka's head slowly went down to the water. He quickly lapped at the surface. Although he was an outgoing and fun loving lion...he was still rather paranoid when in a place for the first time. His ears twitched as a chuckle sounded in the distance. It sounded distinctly female.
Ashoka's ears perked up, straining to hear more, as the sounds stopped. He rose his head up and looked around, trying to find out where the sound had come from.

Having decided to finally get up and lap a drink of water from the lake, Nadine stood. While the lake wasn't that far away, she could already make out the form of another lion, probably doing the same thing she was meaning to do. Wondering what pride he was from, or if in one at all, Nadine made straight for him.
Never being the bashful type, she stopped a few feet infront of the smartly coloured Lion and stared at him with her mixed coloured eyes for a moment.
"Hello..." She said tentatively as soon as she'd surmised that he wouldn't attack her.

Ashoka's eyes darted across the horizon. He blinked a bit as they landed on a shadowy figure of a lioness making her way towards him. He quickly used one of his paws to clear some random wisps of mane out of his face. He hadn't seen another lion or lioness in a while and he wondered if his social skills would be up to par.
"H-hello.." Ashoka stuttered slightly as he said his hellos. He smiled warmly, hoping that the lioness would not notice the blunder. His tail flicked back and forth as he plopped his butt down onto the dusty ground, sending clouds of dust through the air. He coughed a bit as he pawed at the air, trying to make the dust go away.

Nadine grinned a bit. It was cute to watch the Lions be flustered around a female. It had always struck her as quite comical the things that they would do, and the extent that they would go to impress. Obviously, this Lion had not been around others in a while. He didn't smell of others atleast, and she concidered her sense of smell quite perfect.
Taking her time, she walked up to the waters edge and took a nice long drink. Then with a sigh, she backed up and looked at him again, this time scanning over every part of him.
" My name is Nadine. I don't believe i've seen you around here before. Are you new? Have you a pride you're far from?" Sitting with a little less dust startling, she put one paw over the other and yawned a little while waiting for his answer. It was clear she had nothing to fear from him, so she let her guard down.

Ashoka watched as the lioness made her way to the water. If it wasn't for the fur all over his body, you could see the red blush that was covering it. He so wasn't use to being around other lions, especially a female.
He let out a low sigh as he watched her take a drink. For some reason he couldn't take his eyes off of her. Something, just something, about her interested him.
"Huh? What?" Ashoka mumbled as he realized she had said something. "My name's Ashoka." He blinked as she quickly went through her other questions. Boy, this lioness could talk. He smiled slightly and relaxed a bit. "I am new here...and...I don't have a pride." He frowned a bit at the mention of being prideless. She was probably part of some huge pride and wouldn't want anything to do with him now.

Flattered by his obvious infactuation, Nadine sat and listened. Noticing his frown at the word pride, her eyes gave way to a gentle grin.
" Don't worry about a Pride right now. Many out here don't have one. I myself have yet to find one to suit my needs. I was tempted to make one of my own, but i seem to keep getting cought up in these lazy afternoons..." Trailing off, she watched some water foul swoop across and grab fish.
"You see, i was born between two prides, and both disowned me once i was old enough to care for myself. Hard to trust them after that. What about you? You may be new, but certainly old enough to have a Pride. Or were you born outside of one?"
Nadine was always inquisitive, and she wasn't sure if her talking would soon annoy the young Lion infront of her. Many of the males found her insufferable, and generally kept away after a while. They didn't all enjoy a female that could think.

Ashoka's frown slowly dissolved into a small smile as he relaxed a bit more. He settled down and watch the same bird that Nadine was watching.
"I really don't remember much about my past. No pride, no mother. I've been alone for as long as I can remember." He sighed and laid his head on his paws. "At least you know your parents." Ashoka said a little too snappy. "I'm sorry.." He said as he closed his mouth and scolded himself for talking before thinking.
He slowly traced circles into the plot of dirt, in front of him, with one of his front paws. His social skills were obviously lacking and he wasn't all too sure how to act around the lioness.
"Start your own pride?" He asked as his ears perked up a bit. "I've never thought of doing that. You seem like you'd make a good leader." He said the last part quietly, nodding to himself. "Lazy afternoons are the best." Ashoka said as he yawned slightly.
He was getting tired even though it was the middle of the day. His eyes drifted over the lake, taking in the shimmering water. He wondered if it'd feel as good flowing through his fur as it had when going down his throat.

The Lioness looked at him gaze off in the distance. Nadine may have infact known her parents, but that hadn't necessarily been beneficial.
" I'm determined to be a better parent than the ones i had. All they did was complain about the Prides kicking them out. I don't even think they were in love. I just think they thought their kittens would turn out strong and beautiful. I'm the only one left, so they didn't even get that wish fulfilled really." Thinking her response a little depressing, she added. "And thank you for the compliment. I don't think i'd necessarily want to lead a Pride... but i wouldn't necessarily mind sharing the responsibility with someone. I don't... deal well... with responsibility. "
Nadine laughed. The truth was she had problems with authority. She never had found the right balance of courage, forcefullness and caring all at the same time.
Suddenly, Nadine got up and swatted at Ashoka playfully, and as if reading her mind, bolted for the water that was sure to give some relief to the burning sun.

"Kids? Heh, I've never even thought about them." He cocked an eyebrow as he thought of himself as a dad.
"You sound like me. I'm not so sure I'd be good pride leader either." Ashoka chuckled as he imagined himself bossing people around. He just couldn't see it, at least not by himself. Nope, no way was it going to happen. He kind of liked being free at the moment anyway.
"Hey!" Ashoka exclaimed and started to laugh as Nadina swatted at him. "You read my mind." He said as Nadina headed into the water. He took off running and jumped into the cool water, causing a big splash. He seemed to lack grace in everything he did today and he didn't know why.
Ashoka may be a lion but he loved swimming. He stayed under water for a bit, swimming closer and closer to Nadina. Swimming behind her he made his way to the surface and popped up. "Boo!" He exclaimed as he broke the water's surface.

Startled at his quickness, Nadine turned around and dunked his head back under the water with one big paw and swam a few feet away. Laughing, she yelled back at him.
"Never think of kids?? What, you were going to live, eat, and die alone then? No thanks. I want lots of little grandbabies to tell stories too." Chuckling, she turned up on her tummy and began to float there, bathing her stomach to the sun, which now sent shivers through her spine at the mixture of cold and warm.

Ashoka sputtered as he came back up to the surface. He had been surprised when Nadina's paw had pushed him back under. "You'll pay for that." He said playfully and started to swim after her.
"I don't know.." He said as he swam up next to her and watched her roll over onto her back and float along in the water. "I've never been around kids before. Doubt I'd make a very good father figure." He shrugged slightly. It's not that he didn't want kids. It was just that he wasn't sure he could handle being a dad.
The shiver was visible as it rippled through her skin. The breath caught in his throat at the sight of her. Shaking his head Ashoka turned on his back and splashed Nadina playfully as he paddled away from her and laughed happily. For the first time in a while, he wasn't thinking about what was going to happen to him the next day.

Catching the splash full on, Nadine went into reflexes mode and sped after him. Before he could do anything about it, she had completely submerged him from behind, using him as an anchor to thrust herself away from him, heading for a rather large tree that over hung the lake a bit.
Making it to shore, she shook off the water, and began cleaning herself. Swimming was fun to do once in a while, but it left one's coat in an awful mess. Waiting to see the Lion get out of the water himself, hair dragging and clinging to his body, Nadine waited, holding in the laughter she was sure would follow.

Again, Ashoka was caught off guard and dunked under the cold water. He swam a little ways under water and surfaced a few feet away from the bank. He climbed up out of the water and shook the water off of his fur, causing his mane to stick out in random places. Not noticing it he made his way over to a patch of grass that somehow had managed to survive the heat of this place. He plopped down and sighed as the warmth of the sun dried his fur, causing his mane to stick in place even more so. Suddenly, he flipped over and started rolling in the grass. Small blades got stuck in his fur as he did so. This was something he didn't do very often. He'd been too busy moving around, lately, to even rest and have some fun.

Giggling slightly as he got out of the water, Nadine was now in full laughter as he rolled around in the grass. It wasn't a mean kind of laugh, but the whole body kind that couldn't keep others frowning for very long.
" You're mane is a little... erm... poofy." Nadine giggled. Jumping up on the limb that overhung the water, She lay down as if a tree cat.
"So what do you do then. I see you with no traveling partners, so i can't imagine you with many friends, unless you're running away from something." Giving him a look, she decided right away that if it had been something he were innocent. Putting a giant paw under her head, she watched him.
