Ah, the Mushroom Kingdom. Most Smash players recognize this place from previous games in the series, where the world was represented in a pixel-art style reminiscent of the original Super Mario Bros.

But why the "y" on the end of "Mushroom"? What’s the difference?

Oh, so that’s why!

This time around, we’ve designed a stage that recreates the layout of World 1-1 in Super Mario Bros.—but with rich backgrounds added to the mix.

The stage scrolls forward at a leisurely pace.

Pieces of familiar scenery scroll by.

The kingdom you once knew has turned to ruins over the long years, and it is now your battlefield.

You’ll get to enjoy a wide range of familiar structures. Also, since the stage slowly scrolls sideways, battles here will require you to come up with a very different strategy for winning.

Oh, and when you select this stage it will occasionally load an alternate underground stage.

This is the famous World 1-2. This one’s also quite charming.

Im loving this set up, it sets the scene for the End of MK as we know it.

Anyone know how far our the screen we can go I can't remember how far it was out the Rainbow Ride thing level on Meele.

I think ive found my battleground anyways (no stupid edges sonic will have a blast)

Another awesome stage from the Smash Bros team. I wonder how common world 1-2 is?

This has now become my favorite stage in the current SSBB stage line-up. This is just freaking awesome. So is the music.

I have to agree with Nightwing, best stage yet.

I love how they decide to make it run down over the years, instead of the old bright and happy feel, it seems to just fit smash better.

Super Smash Brothers...

I third the nomination of this stage being the best in SSBBs current stage line up. Not only is it because it's taking something from the past and bringing it to now, but it's, as specified before, because they remodeled it into something different. Giving something old a fresh feel. The World 1-2 stage will probably be a difficult one for some characters since it seems there's no way for an aireal kill. Unless the blocks are destructable as they should be.

I do need to point out one question though... what would happen once the screen scrolls to the end of the level. Would it continue passed it, and then start over, in a loop, or would it reverse itself, and start going backwards?

This is one of my favorite stages so far, I love the ruins thing since it's so old(the game, I mean is old) (whatever, you know what I mean).

This is sooo cool! This will remind me of when I used to play the old Mario Brothers! Best stage ever!

I bet it will be like the classic mario stages in the N64 game and Melee. Small annoying holes in the ground and easy side knockouts. But the level design looks great.

I imagine that the stage would just loop.

too bad they didnt include the castle or the underwater level. although they might still appear in some way. Wonder if/how they would do an underwater level in brawl?

Low Gravity style everyone slow but no way to die apart from being knocked out of the water. (With fish etc causing extra damage).

Super Smash Brothers...

The castle level would be fun, but it's just so darn short... =/ I mean, the stages aren't exactly long to begin with in Super Mario Bros, but the castle levels are even shorter than the already short levels.
