PAST DUE DATE. YOU MAY STILL ADD STORIES, BUT NOT FOR A PRIZE*saawariya spoilers*Hey, I was thinking why don't we do a sort of role play thing. Basically, I loved the movie Saawariya (and this still pertains to you if you hated it) but what do you think would have happened to Ranbir's character after Sakina left him. SO Write a short story summing up Ranbir's life after Sakina. >you can use any of the characters in Saawariya and you can make new ones as well. >make up whatever you want! does an alien abduct him? does he get his job back? Length: Not too long!!!! (unless we don't get many hehe) Due Date: February 10th (post on feb. 10th and no earlier because then people can steal ideas from you!)

This sounds like such a fun thing to do! Although I personally think, as soon as he went down that alley at the end of the movie, aliens came down and abducted him. I swear that's what SLB had in mind, but it wouldn't flow with the rest of the movie so that's why he didn't include it. wink
How about the contestants PM you their submissions whenever they can? Then they don't have to worry about being online February 10th and submitting them. And then you have all of the submissions and can post them on February 10th (or 11th, whichever) all at once and then you post who won the contest.

Anyways, it seemed that Islam was influencial in the place since many scenes were Islamic. I don't know why I thought France. I guess I read it wrong. SO this is my ending...very long...not the best...pretty retarded...but yeah!

Sakina walked toward Imaan, looking back occasionally. Raj just watched with tears running down his eyes. He looked down and by the time he looked up again she was already on the boat with Imaan drifting out of his life. “Sakina!” whispered Raj putting his arm out slightly to reach for her, but then he slowly brought his hand back to his heart and felt his heartbeat. He closed his eyes as more water ran down his face and let out a wail when Sakina and Imaan went out of the distance. He fell to the ground and cried. Ghulab-ji was watching him from behind a building. She felt bad for the young boy. She looked back and forth from the crying, broken-hearted lover to the water of the river drifting within the city. After some time she just walked away and sat on the bench where she met Raj for the second time and imagined him smiling. Raj came very late at night to the same spot. He was still very upset.
“Cheer up, chap. She was holding you back,” said Ghulab in a very concerned voice. Raj looked at her for a few seconds and stared at the ground. “Cheer up, it is depressing for me to see you upset, and I don’t like being upset,” ranted Ghulab-ji. Raj continued to show no sign of coping or even a slight happiness. Ghulab-ji sighed. “If you really want her back, why don’t you find her and tell her how you really feel. Maybe she will leave that other man.”
Raj finally looked at her and whispered for his voice was full of sadness, “Her true lover is Imaan, and she will never leave him for me. Plus, how will I get the money to find her?”
“Silly boy, if it is the money problem, I will take care of it.” said Ghulab-ji. She opened her blouse slightly and pulled out a wad of cash. “Here,” she said grabbing Raj’s hand and placing it inside it, “take this money and find her. If you tell her that you love her, she will never be able to resist you.” She rubbed his head and messed up his hair and laughed. “Go! Go to your lover!”
Raj got up and was motivated, “Maybe she will accept me! Imaan left her before; maybe he will do it again! And that will be my chance! Thanks Ghulab-ji!” He rushed away and jumped on to a bench and sang happily. Then he looked at Ghulab-ji and smiled. He walked over to her and asked her to come with him on his journey.
“No, my place is here!”
“Please Ghulab-ji; I want you to come with me.”
“You want a prostitute for your escort?”
“No, I want my friend to keep my company,” said Raj with a puppy-dog face.
Ghulab-ji looked at him and smiled, “okay.”
Raj pulled Ghulab-ji up and dragged her out of the courtyard to the train station. “Come on!”
Raj and Ghulab-ji got to the train station. Ghulab-ji was so excited that she was finally going to be on a train. Raj kept on thinking about Sakina as they waited in line for tickets. Once they got to the front of the line, Raj handed the money to the old cashier and said, “Two tickets for the next train, please,” with two fingers up to symbol the two tickets.
“The tickets are for…?” said the cashier in a scratchy voice.
“They are for my and Ghulab-ji,” said Raj excitedly pointing at himself and Ghulab-ji who was smiling bigly.
“No! I can not allow a prostitute into these trains. Paris does not want more prostitutes coming in and I don’t want to get calls saying the prostitute is making business in the train.
Ghulab-ji frowned and her eyes became big and she moved toward the booth, “Sir! I am not going to do anything! I am just accompanying my friend, here. He wanted…”
“Stop, stop, stop,” said Raj putting his hand in front of Ghulab-ji and signaling her to stop begging.
“Raj! If I can’t go, then you must go and find Sakina,” said Ghulab-ji begging.
Raj just gave her a look of seriousness and said to the cashier, “Cancel both tickets please. Thank you.” Raj grabbed all the money from the cashier and gave them back to Ghulab-ji. Then he held her hand and started to slowly walk. She followed his pace.
Once they got out of the train station area, Ghulab-ji moved her hand away from Raj’s and pulled him over to her. “If I couldn’t go, why didn’t you go? Don’t you want to find Sakina?”
“If destiny wants Sakina and I together, then destiny will bring us together,” said Raj glumly beginning to walk away.
“What if destiny wants you two together, but you have to find her?”
“If destiny really wants us together, it will bring us together. Shall we go?” said Raj turned around to look at Ghulab-ji and let his hand out.
“Hmm” said Ghulab-ji moving her hand away from her chest and moving towards Raj. They walked all the way to the courtyard. Once there they sat down. Ghulab-ji put the money back in her blouse and Raj just looked at the sky. “I told you if you wanted to find her to just go.”
“I can’t leave a good friend like you behind,” said Raj stilling looking at the sky.
Ghulab-ji laughed, “Your friend is a prostitute?”
“You’re a human aren’t you?”
“Okay, I will stop now.”
The two talked all night about their lives, dreams, happiness, sadness…it was a good way to keep Raj’s mind about Sakina’s leaving. “I am going to need to get some money now…I better go look for a job. I loved my old one…my music. I am going to miss you a lot Ghulab-ji when you go to work. I will be alone. Even for half the pay would be nice.”
“Is that so? Well I am sure you will find a job.” Ghulab-ji looked into the sky and had an idea.
The next night Ghulab-ji had a customer, and Raj went to the hotel he lived in and looked sleeplessly at the stars all night. The next morning before Ghulab-ji returned to the courtyard, she went to the bar and asked the owner to give Raj his job back and in return she will spend a night with him. The owner accepted and said Raj can start work that afternoon. Ghulab-ji said thank you can walked to the courtyard. Raj saw her and ran out to talk to her. “Raj, you have your job back.”
“I do? How?”
“I yelled at the owner and told him to give it back. And just like that, you have it back!”
“Thank you so much Ghulab-ji!” said Raj giving her a hug. She smiled. “This means a lot to me! Thank you! When do I start?”
“In the afternoon, it is almost 10, so we should star heading there,” said Ghulab-ji standing up and handing her hand to Raj.
“Okay!” said Raj putting his hand in Ghulab-ji’s and walking with her to the bar. Raj was so happy to get his job back.
“When we get there, I want you to play me a song, okay?”
“Okay, Ghulab-ji”
Raj smiled as they headed to the bar. Now when Ghulab-ji had a customer, Raj was able to peacefully sleep until the morning she came back and they could both go to the bar and enjoy themselves. This lifestyle lasted for three years…until the day that Sakina’s grandma died.
Raj and Ghulab-ji went to her burying to pay respect and next to the dead body was Sakina crying. “Sakina” whispered Raj. Ghulab-ji looked at Sakina and just smiled sadly.
Raj talked to Sakina after the burying. “Where is Imaan?”
“He left a year ago… but his leaving has to be important! He will come back to me.”
“Sakina, are you crazy!? This is the second time he left you! Face it, he doesn’t care about you!”
“You are lying! You don’t know our love!”
“I haven’t stopped thinking about you since you left, Sakina! I love you!” said Raj hugging her tightly.
“I missed you too, Raj. I love you too, but I love Imaan as well,” said Sakina leaving the embrace. Ghulab-ji was watching the whole thing from behind a wall. She smiled and decided to leave the two lovers be.
That night, Raj looked out into the sky, happily because Sakina loves him and he saw Ghulab-ji approaching the clock tower, looking side to side. “What is she doing?” whispered Raj. He got his coat and ran outside to the tower. By the time he got there, Ghulab-ji had already begun going up the stairs. “Ghulab-ji!” shouted Raj every five seconds as he climbed up. When he got to the top, Ghulab-ji was standing at the edge and was about to jump off “GHULAB-JI!” shouted Raj and he ran to her and pulled her away from the edge.
“Raj? What are you doing here?” asked Ghulab-ji in his arms.
“Why were you going to kill yourself?”
“My meaning for life is disappearing Raj, why should I live?”
“Because you are my friend, I don’t want you to leave me. We went through so much.”
“Fine Raj, you won’t understand why I was about to do this, but I will live on…just because you want me to.”
“I am glad, Ghulab-ji.”
The two walked out of the clock tower and headed to the courtyard and just talked. It was the last time they did that. Every night after Ghulab-ji’s suicide attempt, Raj has been meeting Sakina. Ghulab-ji was sick and didn’t come to the bar as much. Raj and Sakina were happy to be back together, and Ghulab-ji was happy they were back together too.
At the end of the month, Ghulab-ji had died from a cold. She had AIDS, and her body couldn’t fight off the virus. Raj cried so much. “I wish I spent more time with her.” Sakina just stood near a lamp post while Raj just mourned the dead body on he bench. Raj reached into her blouse without looking and pulled out the money she kept in there. “I will use this money, and some of my own, to give hr a good burial.”
“Why do you care so much about this prostitute, Raj? She was a dirty being.”
“Sakina! Don’t say that about Ghulab-ji. She was my best friend in this town. She was here when I was down and she helped me be where I am. She got my back my job, and never let me shed a tear.”
“But over all she was a prostitute.”
“Sakina! If you can’t accept my friend, then I can’t accept you.”
“Raj, don’t say that. I will accept her, if you will accept me.”
They hugged and Raj still cried. “Ghulab-ji wanted us to be together, do you think we will be together? It was her happiness was my happiness, and my happiness is your happiness and her happiness. Please, I want her to be happy in death.” He kneeled down on his knees, “Will you marry me, Sakina?”
Sakina smiled, “Yes! Yes I will!” She fell to her knees and hugged him. Then Raj pulled her up with him, still hugged and then left the embrace and held hands. Then they walked to Ghulab-ji’s and sat on the floor next to the bench. Sakina laid her head on Raj’s shoulder, and Raj put his hand around Sakina, and they both fell asleep.
Ghulab-ji looked at them from the stars and smiled, “Good job kid!”
