 Nahmir blinked surprised at the setting sun. The day had been nice and warm. Cool breezes had been playing with the leaves that had fallen on the ground, cooling down the green ulaya when the sun had become too much. She hadn’t realized that it was so late. She knew that the more dangerous animals started roaming these areas here in the twilight zone, but the biggest part of her didn’t care. At the moment anyways. She could take anybody on! She was small, but she knew she packed a serious fight when she wanted to. It wasn’t like she had ever had anyone to protect her, so she had to take care of herself from the very beginning.

 Annoyed with the scorching sun, Dubhán had been dozing in the protective shadow of a tree, lounging on one of the bigger branches. Getting up from his somewhat comfortable spot, he stretched languidly and yawned, his big fangs catching the last rays of the sun, glinting dangerously.

Sighting slightly, Nahmir debated whether she should stay where she was and sleep under the roots, or go and look for those berry bushes she had snacked off earlier. She was starting to get hungry again. Turning around, she heard it – a branch snatching somewhere nearby. She froze, and her breath became erratic. She was a weakling! She wouldn’t be able to defend herself if anything attacked her!

Dubhán nimbly jumped out of the tree, but flinched in annoyance as he landed on a dry branch that snapped loudly under his paws. Well, so much for getting some easy prey. This was an awful start to a night. Little did Dubhán know that, as he started silently making his way towards a different cluster of bushes, it was about to get worse.

Hearing rustles in the bushes behind her; Nahmir jumped up, and faced the potential danger. Baring her own, smaller fangs, her small bushy tail was on end and her claws came out. She started hissing ever so slightly, her yellow eyes narrowing and glaring at the unidentified intruder.

Dubhán was surprised to hear a small hissing sound coming from the clearing he was about to enter. It sounded surprisingly a lot like another ulaya. But as he entered the clearing, he saw nothing. Nahmir’s dark green body blended amazingly well with the dark green colors of the forest floor, although she hadn’t realized it herself.

when a dark form materialized from the bushes, Nahmir backed up a few paces. It was another ulaya. But it was a big, scary ulaya! Well, she didn’t really know if it was scary, now that she thought about it. It might be a really nice ulaya. Retracing her claws, she smiled a silly little smile up at the stranger. This could be her new best friend, for all she knew! “Hi!” She said cheerily, hoping to make a great first impression.

Dubháns eyes widened slightly, first in surprise but then in disgust. Not only was this little stupid kit overly happy, but he had also missed her. He mentally growled at himself, how could he have missed such a blatant little… thing? Taking the green kit in, a stray thought that he couldn’t quite place poked in the back of his mind. He sneered at the green furball, and clawlessly gave her a hard enough swat that she tumbled off “Outta my way, punk” he growled and started leaving again, not liking the way that her red eyes tugged at something in him.

Nahmir gave a surprised yelp as the large black male sent her tumbling. Any kit with just the tiniest bit of common sense would have bounded off and not looked back, but Nahmir wasn’t quite in the possession of common sense at that moment. “Oooooh, that was fu-un” she exclaimed, and bounded after the male. “Do it again, do it agai-in!” she pleaded and blinked, freezing for a second.
She hadn’t quite noticed before but… despite his age, the male was quite a handsome shade of black, wasn’t he? And those spots and that tail? She purred slightly and said “well Mr. Macho-Man, if you like it rough, all you had to do was just say so”.

At first, Dubhán just ignored the chit, thinking that he would soon outpace the stupid furball. He didn't want to waste any more time on the kit, and he wasn’t in the mood to play today. Otherwise, he might’ve mauled her already. However, as the kit started purring, Dubhán whirled around and almost had to physically pick his jaw off the ground. Was the little kit trying to… to seduce him? He spluttered, trying to regain his composure. His right eye twitched and he shuddered. What was this little hell-spawn?
