So wow, it looks like it's been a while since anyone has posted anything in the forums here. I'm new to the guild, not quite sure what's going on, but I do have questions for any pianists who have played or heard of Serenade, by Schubert.
I picked it out of one of my classical piano books and started playing. Not difficult, just kind of looking for any tips on the overall delivery of the song.
Sad and slow? Or upbeat and exciting? I thought it was a slow song, but as I looked it up on the net, people seemed to play it fairly quickly.
Opinions? Tips? Much appreciated.

Hi, Welcome to the (not so active) guild. ^_^ I don't play the piano (I joined for the 'Eco' bit xD) - hopefully someone who does will reply to you.
The top subforum is where topics relating to piano and classical music usually go. smile

It's a very good piece. I think whatever speed you feel like playing it is right for you.

It's a very famous piece of Schubert's--marked Moderato, so it shouldn't be too slow. Sentimental is not always equivalent to a slow performance...whether it's sad or not is up to you. Of course, this isn't a fast and upbeat piece. That'd just ruin the mood.
A good tempo may be eighth note (quaver) = 90? No slower than 60, definitely, since that'd make it more like Andante. Try out various moderate tempos and see what you like best.

I agree with Wings. Don't play it too fast or too slow, but you'll have to find a tempo that suits you.
Also, there are plenty of threads in the Piano and Classical Music Subforum.
