It is the year 2021. Earth has changed very little. New technologies include cars that run on electricity, vegetable oil, and alcohol, organ cloning, and what concerns us most... virtual reality videogames. Virtual reality has been explored and exposed to the common people. But never has their been an experience like The Dividing Line.

The Dividing Line is the best virtual reality video game ever devised. Until a few days ago, the project kept top secret by the videogame company VirtuGame in Japan. But now, the game has been released to a select few teenagers all over Japan. These teens will be the test subjects for possibly the most intensely realistic video game ever devised.

The Dividing Line is a medieval fantasy RPG in which the player simply puts on a full-body suit complete with helmet, gloves, and boots. The helmet immerses the player completely in the gameplay experience. Players will be able to see, hear, touch, smell, and even taste objects around them in the game.

The game begins in infinite space. Players will float by themselves and be asked to choose to alter their name, determine their race, looks, clothing, weapons, and skills. Finally, they will be deposited in the starting location in the game. It is a field of flowers upon a hilltop on a bright sunny day. A cliff stands to the North, and a waterfall spills over into a large pool. A cavern is nestled behind the falls. To the East are the mountains. Cold will prevent players from venturing any farther in that direction. To the West there is a forest. Through the forest is the human town of Foresthaven. The desert can be seen South of the hill.

Players will be able to communicate with others. They will be able to feel an attack (though the pain is numbed) hug, or even a kiss, but the game prevents them from going any farther. Rivalries will form, friendships will take root, and love may even blossom. But in a game that is this realistic...

What is the Dividing Line between Fantasy and Reality?

Seraching Database.... All Users. All spots taken.

Username: Princess Mandy
IRL Name: Toshiaki (Toshi)
Player Name: Kimo
Race: Neko
Age: 17
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Toshiaki can be a little stubborn and arrogant because he was spoiled. Toshi also thinks he knows more than he actually does. He likes being in charge, and hates being made fun of. Being a little cheeky, he often gets in fights. Video games and girls are his two favorite things - but don't get me wrong, he's not a total pervert. He expects to get into videogame design or the medical field. He eats like a horse.
Bio: Toshiaki was born in Tokyo and has lived there most of his life. Thus, he often likes to escape the confines of city life. One way is through video games. His parents are pretty wealthy doctors, so he pretty much gets any game he pleases. Because of his large 'contributions' to VirtuWorld he was selected as one of the teenagers to try The Dividing Line.

Username: Noelani Rules
IRL Name: Kishin Murakami
Player Name: Kisho
Race: Mage
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Kishin is usually quiet, especially in school, although he does have his own group of friends and is pretty popular, although he has no idea how that happened. If someone or something bothers him, he can easily give back a venomous remark. When he gets on the computer, he can talk more freely with people. He is strong, both mentally and physically, and you will almost never see him cry, and although you might see him beating up a kid in the hallway, he isn't overly aggressive, at least most of the time. Kishin isn't the best student, but he isn't failing any of his classes, although he doesn't get along with any of the teachers very well. If anyone talks down to him, he will be seriously ticked, and he doesn't like to be in a position where someone is controlling him. He likes to be in charge, and is a tad arrogant at some points. Nevertheless, Kishin always gets an A in his English class, if only for his passion for poetry. Usually he writes about depressing things, or about love. If anyone ever spoke to him about it though, he would be easily embarrassed, as he often is anyways. Aside from writing, Kishin loves roleplaying games, especially fantasy and skateboarding, which he is highly skilled at.
Bio: Kishin's family is insanely rich, most likely the reason that Kishin got into such an advanced school. His mother is a high-ranking surgeon, and his father is a CEO at a widely known electronics company, closely linked with VirtuWorld. Through his father's connections, Kishin was chosen as one of the teenagers to test The Dividing Line. Kishin has lived in Tokyo, Japan his entire life, though he has gone on many business trips away from the city, and even the country, with his father. He lives in a enormous house, and feels like he has his own home. This is a reasonable feeling, because he has seven rooms to himself, and two bathrooms. Being wealthy, Kishin has gotten every video game that he pleases, and as such has a great interest in them. He is very interested in technology, especially since he can get more of it than some other people could.

Username: kopipiko.
IRL Name: Kojiro Ha-harasa.
Player Name: Ciro.
Race: Mage.
Age: 17.
Gender: Male.
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Kojiro is a cheery, easygoing boy. He doesn't worry much about anything, an optimist to the core. It's his belief that everything will turn out alright, no matter what. Bad things only happened in other peoples' lives...that's what he thinks, anyway. So when something upsets his own life, he ignores it, runs away from it, does anything to pretend it doesn't exist. It's obvious he doesn't have the slightest idea of how to deal with stress.
Kojiro is sensitive to other people's moods and emotions, knowing when to stay away, when to joke, and when to be serious. He is considerate and caring, but is not normally one for comforting others. He feels awkward in that kind of situation. Instead, he'll try to change the subject to something more light-hearted, hoping to stall their problem so that they might talk to someone else about it.
He is graceful, diligent, adaptable; flexible in both mind and body. Blessed with an extraordinary imagination, he enjoys daydreaming, telling stories, and all forms of fine art.
Bio: Kojiro grew up on the poor side, but that didn't stop him from doing the things he loved; games, stories, music, art, dance...He led a satisfactory life. That is, until he reached the age of fourteen. His parents were both low income earners, and were constantly urging him to go get a part time job. He always pushed it off, not wanting the responsibility and stress that came with the money. And anyway, everything would be okay in the end, right? Not so. Soon he was fifteen and homeless, watching in horror as his two hardworking parents slept on the streets every night. He himself couldn't sleep; he was too wracked with guilt.
It all got better, though. His parents sent him to live with a family friend as they worked, so that he would be properly fed, clothed, and sheltered during his years of school. It seemed like everything would be okay...but the guilt of knowing his parents were still out in the streets grew as he lived in his cozy new home. It ate away at him so much he began to draw away from other people and suffered from random bursts of depression and tears. When he was offered the chance to test the new virtual reality game, he practically died of joy -- he saw it as an opportunity to escape from the mess he had made in his life, and accepted instantly.

Username: Nokari052944
IRL Name: Arashi Kinamoto
Player Name: Kirashi
Race: Inu
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Dark and even tempered, he is one person you really don't want to mess with. Arashi takes everything a bit too seriously and has to have things a certain way in order to be happy. He doesn't like to be messed with and has a very small sense of humor. He will, however, laugh sarcastically and he doesn't hesitate to throw a punch if someone is offending him or someone he cares for. He tends to have a soft spot for the shyer, less talkative people because he used to be that way. All it takes to make him calm down from one of his rages is a fearful look from the person he might have been protecting, or something to that effect.
Bio: He grew up happy and loved in his home and would do anything to protect his family mother, seeing as she is the only one that raised him. Therefore, he, as well as his teachers and mother, do not understand why he has such a horrible anger problem. It was so angry one time that he punched a police officer who pulled him over. His lawyer was able to make a deal with him; he would go to an anger management program for 6 months and the whole matter whould be pushed under the rug. The 6 months have sense passed and he has calmed down somewhat. He has learned to incorporate some of the tricks they used to help him into his everyday life, like R & R: Rephrase and Redirect, is just an example. Arashi has always been interested in gaming, especially in the making of the games, so when he was offered the chance to test out a newly created game, he took the offer right away.

Username: Nokari052944
IRL Name: Toya Shiro
Player Name: Kuro
Race: Fox
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Very much like his sister, he has a sharp tongue and can often be heard giving sarcastic remarks. He's an emotional person and the only one that he refuses to show around others is tears. He's a blunt person, much more so than his sister as well as very intelligent. He loves to laugh and play jokes, often able to find the silver lining in any cloud.
Bio: A very intelligent person, he was already in college by the time he turned 16 and had graduated just a few months ago. Because he left for college so early, he had no idea that his father beat his sister, nor that his father blames her for their mothers death. He distinctly remembered waking up to the sobing of Kita next to him, as well as the dead silence in the rest of the house. He never blamed Kita for their mothers death and he never really got the chance to talk to her after it happened because she refused to speak to anyone. He was sure she blamed herself for what happened. A while passed and still he couldn't talk to her, though he wasn't sure why. By the time he left for college she wasn't speaking to anyone in the house. After graduating a couple of months ago, he became interested in gaming and graphics, so when the opportunity to test it came, he took it. He has no idea that his sister is doing the testing also.

Username: Shuriken99
IRL Name: Kyo Syrin
Player Name: Silve
Race: Human
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Kyo is passive in everyday life. Don't misunderstand that though, as he can fight. Although, once he hits playing the game, he can turn aggressive until he talks to the people and gets to know them. He usually likes to be the tank of a game and let other people get their kills easier. Still, Kyo does get the urge every once in a while to play a small, quick character.
Bio: Kyo wasn't actually born in Tokyo or anywhere even near Japan. His parents moved away to start a family in the United Kingdom. It was there that Kyo was born and grew up until he was thirteen. Up until then, Kyo didn't know where his family had come from. Then, his father was transferred to Tokyo for a job transfer. The next year the entire family packed up and moved there. As soon as Kyo hit Tokyo, he had picked up a new cellphone, laptop, iPod, and the latest parts for a computer. He was becoming addicted to electronics. Still, he didn't stop there. Soon came the video games. Kyo has entered his third year in Tokyo and now a new game has caught his eye. Will this one change what every other game was to him? Let's find out.

Username: Princess Mandy
IRL Name: Meimi
Player Name: Kalei (Kah-lay)
Race: Elf
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Meimi is a shy girl who has trouble talking to strangers and opening up to people. She is a daydreamer who loves fantasy and romance, and might seem a little spacey. She might seem like a bit of a nerd and an introvert, but she only acts that way around people she doesn't know. Once she knows someone and likes them, she laughs easily, is very talkative, and you can see her passion for cooking and art.
Bio: Since she is shy, Meimi likes to turn to video games to provide an escape and feel important. She also likes to cook - in fact, that's why she was selected for VirtuGame's The Dividing Line test drive. She won a baking competition amongst high school girls in Tokyo, and mentioned VirtuGame as one of her favorite companies. She lives in a small town outside of Tokyo in a fairly suburban neighborhood. She leads a fairly simple life, and The Dividing Line is something she finds extraordinary... then again, who doesn't?

Username: x x _ m o n e t _ x x
IRL Name: Sakura Akiyoshi
Player Name: Serena
Race: Angel
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female
Appearance:l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: At a young age, Sakura copied her father in what she liked to think of as "accostoming oneself with society". Sakura has always been a very popular girl at her school, having a lot of friends because of her good nature and happiness. At times, some people think she's too happy for her own good, but she can't help it. Sakura loves to joke around, often times, very sarcastically. She may seem rude, but she never does it to intentionally hurt anyone's feelings. Also, being the social butterfly that she is, Sakura has become quite the party animal, going out with friends, and staying out until the wee hours of the morning... But she doesn't care. Her parents have always been very liberal with her, after all.
On the flip side, however, a side no one sees to Sakura is her artistic self. Some days, she likes to spend time to herself and play guitar or piano... Maybe write a poem or two... Draw and paint... Or do photography. She has the ability to be a very down to earth sort of person, but she's still a teenager, and chooses to enjoy her life as such until she has to settle down.
Bio: Sakura has lived in Tokyo all her life... And has loved it. She enjoys the city life, and although it's always noisy, she appreciates all the excitement and buzz in the air. During the summer, however, she always has the opportunity to get away from city life, and instead, travel, seeing as her family is very wealthy. Her mother is one of the top chefs in Japan, and even Sakura has to admit, she loves her mother's cooking and efficiency with which she handles her job. Her father, on the other hand, is one of the CEO's of the company, VirtuGame, hence Sakura was chosen to be one of the teenagers to test out The Dividing Line. Her parents know lots of people, her father especially, being in the position that he's in.
Although Sakura was born to such a high status family, she is not snobby at all, but rather, if one were to meet her, she would think Sakura was just your run-of-the-mill, average teenager... with good people skills. However, she can be a bit oblivious to the fact that she has it made, seeing as at times, she takes complete advantage of being an only child with unlimited amounts of freedom. Her parents are always busy, and what with Sakura having turned sixteen last year, agreed to buying the girl her own flat, in which Sakura holds many of her weekend get-togethers. After all, what's a girl to do when she's got her freedom?

Username: [Kitade]
IRL Name: Kitade Mitsuwa
Player Name: Kit
Race: Vampire
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Even to strangers, Kitade finds her ways to smile at anyone she meets. Smiling is one of her objectives to live on in this world. Her appearances might make her seem like a kick-a** person, but she's gets easily swoon with emotions. She easily welcomes others easily as her friends and does wildest things at times. She hates being alone and prefers to be surround by others that she knows well of. She might be a klutz on the outside but is pretty analytical. She likes to laugh off things and goes nuts when she sees any sweets lying around. Randomness is her thing.
Bio: Kitade lives in the central downtown Tokyo, loving the traffic sounds outside her window. Her parents are doing business abroad as she is left alone with her grandmother. She is easily intrigued with technological things, especially in video gaming. Music and sweets is one of the main important things in her life. She goes to a high class high school during the day while at night she stays up fiddling around with her computer.

Username: The_Doctors_Wife
IRL Name: Judas Kai
Player Name: Your Silent Friend Lucifer
Race: Vampire
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Though many would find it hard to believe Judas was once an innocent child. Growing up she loved dancing and occasionally still does. A bit of a smart a** being forced to grow up prematurely little to improve her attitude or outlook on life. However within the game she tends to be nicer because she is not pitied because of her life and people tend to judge her less. A free spirit, the game offered her the chance to be free from the captivity that her life had forced upon her.
Bio: Living in near poverty for most of her life Judas worked for all that she had. Going above and beyond she spent her life trying to help others often at the expense of her own well being. When she was 11 she ran away from home where she was taken into a gang. Sleeping in a different house every night of the week her most permanent home came about when she was 13 and caught the attention of a man named John who was two years older than her. He took her into his home but just after her 16th birthday he came to propose to her but was killed by a rival gang member who wanted her attention. Making a run she made a move to leave town but went into hiding in an old friends house with strict rules. It was decided that for a year she would lie low and not leave the house any more than she had to in an attempt to avoid her old companions and the cops as well. Since then she found the game and has something to fill the empty void in her life and something to pull her out of depression.

Username: Nokari052944
IRL Name: Kita Shiro
Player Name: Dani_Kiani
Race: Kitsune
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Quick and witty, she is easily angered and will often find herself in situations she can't exactly handle. Kita likes to argue and fight, her remarks often coming quickly and with as much venom as she can hold in her short frame. However, just as it's extremely easy to make her angry, it's also extremely easy to make her laugh. She doesn't like to do the latter in public though, nor does she like to cry. If you're as quick as she is, Kita is likely to get along well with you. She'll be your friend even if you arn't, though she might find it hard to do so. She loves the rain and absoluetly enjoys going on adventures. She tends to trust people a bit too easily and very curious by nature.
Bio: Born into a family that didn't really want her, she grew up angry and with a major attitude. Her mother died in a motoercycle accident, leaving her with her elder brother and father. She was only 13 at the time, but already she was riding motorcycles with their mom, sometimes on her own when she got the chance. She was just that good. So when Kita got challeneged in a race by a rather dangerous bike gang, she didn't hesitate to accept. Only her mother stopped her, and seeing as Kita had already accepted, there was no way to back out. So her mother took her place in the race, with Kita riding behind her. Towards the end of the race the other racer rammed into them, sending them into traffic. Her mother pushed her off the bike and away from them, before she was hit full force by an oncoming car. Kita's not quite sure how, but she's managed to procure a few good friends, for whom she would do anything if asked. With the exception of those three friends, she is considered the outcast and the smart a** of her class. She was born in Hakkiado, though she has just recently moved to Tokyo, only a number of weeks ago. She was still adjusting to the completely different atmosphere when she suddenly received an invitation to rest out the Dividing Line. An extremely curious person, she accepted.

Username: Noelani Rules
IRL Name: Suma Nagasaki
Player Name: Sumi
Race: Fairy
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: l Fantasy l Reality l
Personality: Suma is a very shy girl. She has a small cluster of friends, but other than that, is very timid with other people. It is very easy to make her cry or otherwise upset her, and she isn't very good at fights, verbal or physical. She is incredibly smart, always at the top of her classes. When she gets to know someone well, it is still hard for her to open up to them, however, she finds it easy to laugh and always has a good time. She loves being able to talk freely when on the computer. Suma loves cake and falls in love very easily. She finds it very easy to trust people, and in the past she has been hurt because of it, but she can't help herself from putting her faith into someone. Her downfall in her classes is her lack of remembrance. More than once she has forgotten that a major assignment was due the next day, but she has never been late. She likes to cook, although she is bad at it, and loves reading, although she can't write a decent piece of fictional work herself. She is a romantic and is easily scared or frightened, and is rarely the brave one of the group. Suma has never hated anyone for longer than a week or so, and she finds it very easy to forgive.
Bio: Suma has lived in Tokyo her entire life, and has never gone out of the state. She hates to travel, at least in real life, and that is probably why. Her father is a worker at VirtuGames, and her mother is a highly skilled designer for many of their games. Their positions at VirtuGame gave Suma the opportunity to be one of the teenagers trying out The Dividing Line. She lives in a middle-class family, who own their own house. She got into her expensive school because of her grades. Her bedroom is filled with stuffed animals, most of them from her loving father and mother. Suma loves to play video games involving romance and fantasy, and her parents let her have them. Her parents don't give her much free reign, but she feels like she has it when she gets on the video games or the computer.

Toshiaki yawned and stretched, running a hand through his long and violently red hair. He glanced at the clock. "Oh crap," he muttered. It was 8:17 am, exactly 13 minutes until he was supposed to be at the VirtuWorld headquarters. Quickly he threw on a collared t-shirt, some jeans, and a funky tie in an effort to be somewhat presentable. He finger-combed his hair into place, brushed his teeth, and he was ready to go. He grabbed his wallet and headed outside where a previously called taxi driver was nervously looking from his watch to Toshi's front door. "Keep your hair on," Toshi complained, throwing himself into the back seat and slamming the door closed. "VirtuWorld HQ," he reminded the man who was very anxious to get going considering if they were late it was his head. Actually, it was his wallet. But whatever, no need to get technical. The man floored it, sending Toshi forward into the back of the passenger's seat. "Watch it will you?!" Toshi asked irritably. He wasn't exactly a morning person, especially when it wasn't a school day and there were no girls to get hyper over. Wait, would there be girls at VirtuGame? Probably nerdy ones. Or otakus. Shudder. "Sorry Toshiaki-sama," the man apologized. However, he was still going a little too fast, especially for the traffic downtown. Toshi didn't bother to correct him. He didn't want to be late either. It wasn't often he was the first to be able to try out a new video game, especially one that had so much hype. It had better be worth his time.

Meimi was standing nervously outside a tall building, map with address in hand. "Is this it...?" she wondered quietly aloud, looking nervously around her. You got all sorts of weird types in Tokyo. At least, that's what her parents had said. Especially for a young girl like herself. Deciding to go in and see, she went adjusted her headband and then headed through the glass doors and into the building. She walked up to a main desk, where a smiling and pretty receptionist stood. "E...excuse me, is this VirtuWorld?" she asked nervously, playing with a strand of her hair. The woman nodded. "Can I see your ID?" she asked. Meimi nodded, and dug through her shoulder bag. "Where are you...?" she asked under her breath, avoiding glancing up, worried the lady would be impatient with her. Finally her fingers found her wallet, and she extracted it. She flipped it open and found her school ID. "Here," she said, laying it down on the table. The woman checked her computer. "Ah, you're here for the game testing," she noted. "Have fun. Head into the elevator, basement floor." Meimi gave a quick and silent nod again and headed off. "Miss, you forgot your ID..." Meimi flushed, reclaimed it, and quickly walked over to the elevator. She pressed the B button for basement, and the elevator doors slid shut. When she arrived on the floor, she saw a long hallway leading to double doors. Other doors lined the hall, and each had a name on them. She walked into her own door to find a suit on the wall, complete with gloves, boots, and a helmet.

Kyo looked up and whistled softly as his glasses fell down his nose. The building in front of him was huge! Normally, a simple building wouldn't impress Kyo, but the VirtuWorld office building basically demanded awe from all who saw it. Kyo started up the stairs when he heard a faint chiming sound from his pocket. He stuffed his hand inside and rummaged around for a few moments before producing his cell phone. Flipping it open, Kyo spoke into it, "Yo. Oh, Yuki! No, no, no, I'm not going to be late tomorrow! Please, it's not like I'm going to be completely taken up into this gam- but- okay, fine, I promise. Yes, I'll even be at your party early. Okay, bye." Click. Kyo threw his cell phone back in his pocket and walked up to one of the security guards near the front entrance. She held out her hand and smiled to him, asking, "Do you have your ID, sir?" Kyo pushed up his glasses and pulled out a card on a lanyard around his neck. The guard nodded and pointed the way to his room. He put his ID back around his neck and pushed open the doors in front of him. It took him a few minutes of walking before he found a hallway with doors all along it. Thankfully, each had a name on it and his was one of the first few. Kyo opened the door and stepped inside, closing the door behind him. In front of him was a full suit with gloves, helmet and everything. He slipped the gear on and smiled, thinking, "This should be an interesting time..."

[Kitade]

Kitade gives a small sigh as she trods along the sidewalk on one of Tokyo's busiest streets. "Lady Mitsuwa!" a voice yelled as she glances over to her right to see her grandmother's chauffer slowly driving inside his car. "I'm just going to the VirtuWorld HQ," she said in a tone of annoyance, "Tell her I'll be fine. I'll return eventually." The 'her' she referred to was her grandmother who is always constantly expecting that she's needs to be grown up as a proper lady. 'Blah, blah, blah' was all she could think about what her grandmother would say to her.

"But..." the chauffer said again as Kitade glances over at him, giving him a pleading look. He nodded at her after a few seconds and drove off. She had been waiting to visit the HQ ever since it had just got build up.

"Man, how annoying," she mutters to herself as she adjusts the strap of her backpack on her shoulder and walks towards the tall building. She glances up and raises an eyebrow at it. "VirtuWorld headquarters..." she mutters at the name then slowly moves her eyes down towards the sliding doors. "Interesting..." she mutters as she unwraps a lollipop that she had grabbed from her back pockets and stuck the lollipop inside her mouth.

She walks towards the building and through the sliding door. The place was spacious as her eyes fell towards the main desk. She walked up towards it as the woman behind the desk stood up and smiles at her.

"Lady Mitsuwa, I presume?" the woman said to her. She blinked a couple of times before nodding at her. 'How did she know my name?' she thought to herself. "Nice to meet you, I've seen you on the magazines with your grandmother," the woman smiled at her, "You're such a great granddaughter." 'Eh, no wonder,' she thought to herself remembering that time when she had to attend with her grandmother's banquet.

"Well then, Lady Mitsuwa, please entered through the elevators and it'll take you to the floor where you need to be which is the basement," the woman said to her, pointing out the elevators on the left of the building. She took out her lollipop and smiled at the woman before giving her a small bow, "Thank you," she said before heading towards the elevators.

After the small trip on the elevator, the sliding doors open revealing the basement floor. She took a step out from the elevator as the door closed behind her. Names were listed on the door as she puts the lollipop back into her mouth and walks down the hall, searching for her name.

"Ah," she muttered though the small gap of her mouth when she found her room and opens it. She raises an eyebrow at the sight of the suit and accessories to it. She looked over at the helmets, boots, and gloves. She then began to chuckle to herself. "Man, what did I get myself into..." she said to herself before closing the door.

The rented sports car had tented windows and had been payed in cash to avoid then asking for a name or address. Just one more precaution, always one more. It was one of the disadvantages of being part of a gang. The cops would only talk to you long enough to read you the rights and when your old family decided you had to die there were not many places left to run. Having spent the last 6 months in almost complete isolation, Judas had been depressed and in serious need of human interaction beyond a messenger where she could leave no hint to who she was. This was supposed to be different. It was supposed to be like a real world where she could feel and breath with out watching over her shoulder. Judas had wanted to look nice so she had worn her kimono instead of old hand me down jeans and her already porcelain face was done near white with just hints of make up that others had commented made her look beautiful. A flower held her long midnight hair back from her face as her make up was put on with perfection though she rarely wore it. Looking over at the woman who drove she kept glancing at her but whenever she opened her mouth to speak she didn't know what to say. Though it was for her own good she still resented it. As they pulled up to the large building she walked with her head down the driver peeling out as soon as the door was shut. A parasol though it looked like she was trying to protect her skin from the sun was really there to help hide her however she slid it shut as soon as she was indoors.

Walking up to the desk she went quickly getting directions and her ID as fast as possible with out being rude. The less people who saw her the better. Choosing to be high ranking in one of the largest and most prominent gangs had seemed like a good idea at the time, but being the only witness to the second in commands murder not to mention being his girl friend and refusing the boss. That, was deadly. Finding her room fairly easy, Judas was glad to be off the elevator as it seemed to take a life time to move. Heading down the hall until she found her name, she entered shutting the door. Weighing the helmet in her hands she sighed, it would be nice to see humans again, even if they were not human.

Sakura's alarm had gone off at it's schedueled time... 7:00am. She had gotten up with a killer hang-over from the party she had thrown the night before, and the light issuing in from her transparent, white curtains did barely anything for her headache. She could hear some movement outside, and assumed it was just the people who had ended up staying with her. If she recalled correctly, there were about eight or nine of them... four in the living room and four in the two guest bedrooms she had in the flat her parents had bought her. They figured she was a responsible girl and would make the right decisions. Of course, she always did... But what was life without some rule breaking, afterall.

Of course, weekend decisions were much different from weekday decisions. On weekends, they could party until the wee hours of the morning... On weekdays, until about 12pm. It never hurt to have a get together, after all. Standing straight, she admired herself in the mirror, figuring she always loved to look her best. Dawning a black short sleeve blouse, a pair of antique faded jeans, her black converses (high-tops, of course), and a thin white scarf (just for accessory), she decided it would have to do on such bad notice. She never liked to get up early, no matter what the day... And her father had only told her yesterday of the VirtuGame beta testing. She applied eyeliner and lip gloss, nodding briefly, then checking the time. It was only 7:50. She sighed and headed out the door.

Sakura had to walk carefully, so as not to disturb the people in her living room, however, a mischeivious grin began to erupt itself onto her face. Taking up the air horn, she pressed the button, before slowly vanishing out of her flat. The last thing she had seen were the hung-over faces of her friends. Today would be a good day, and she knew it just from that. She hopped in her car, a very nice, black 350z, wide body, of course, with 18" rims all the way around. She loved suped up cars, especially 350s. Turning the key in the ignition and hearing the roar of the turbo-charged engine, she quickly hit the streets.

Sakura never believed in having drivers, thinking they were a waste of time and money... And why have a driver when you can own beautiful cars and drive them yourself? Driving through traffic with ease, from having learned all the good back roads, she parked her car in the company parking and boarded the elevator. They never bothered to ask for her ID, having seen her so many times around VirtuGame. All the woman had told her was that she was to take the elevator to the basement. Doing as she was told, Sakura now found herself in the lower level, standing in a room that had had her name labeled on it.

She glanced at the suit, and looked it over a little, believing it to be a slight fashion "no", but shrugging her shoulders. Perhaps she would take the style of it up with her father. Pulling it on, she pulled her hair out of the suit, and after pulling on both the boots then the gloves, grabbed her helmet. She wasn't sure what she was supposed to do next, and intead of staying in that room, she exited it and took to standing outside of the door. She wanted to get a good look at who else was chosen to play the game, after all.

Kishin yawned and pressed the button on his alarm clock, immediately setting the hardcore music off. He reset the alarm for the next day and threw himself out of his bed. Walking into his bathroom, he ran a quick comb through his platinum blonde hair, even though it did nothing for it. In his second bedroom, converted into a gameroom, he tossed the comb on top of one of his electronics, making his way to the walk-in closet. There, he looked over his choices, finally deciding on a plain black T-shirt with a white striped vest over it. Along with this, he wore a pair of dark skinny jeans, with a studded belt through the loops in the waistline. Kishin ruffled his hair one more time before walking out into the hallway and down two flights of stairs to the kitchen, where his maid had left him a omelet. With a sigh, he sat down and felt it; it was still warm. He took a couple of bites out of it, the flavors simmering in his mouth before walking out into the bright sunshine.

A long, silvery car sat outside the enormous mansion, and Kishin walked up to it, lifting the door so that it swung upwards, glinting against the sun. The car was clearly very expensive. Kishin put his bottle of water into a cup holder and turned the key, feeling the powerful engine rev up. He grinned, driving out of the gates and into the road, making the familiar route to his father's company, right next door to the VirtuGame HQ. Not wanting to leave the car in the street, Kishin put it in the employees garage in his father's building before walking to VirtuGame.

Inside, a woman at the desk looked up at him, then back at her papers. As he approached, she looked up again and said, "Mr. Murakami, nice to have you again. The testing is in the basement." No ID was required, as he had been here thousands of times. Kishin nodded curtly, with a simple, "Thank-you," before disappearing into the elevator and pressing the B1 button, making his way to the basement. He wrinkled his nose at the stale smell at the bottom of the stairs, but said nothing. He name was the first on the row of doors, and he entered, looking over the girl standing in the hallway only briefly. To make ties with one of them now would take something away in the game for him.

In the room was a suit, helmet and pair of gloves. "Ugh," he said, looking at the tacky design of the suit, even though he had already seen it on Sakura. "This will have to go..." he mumbled as he took it off its mount on the wall.

Suma fumbled with her hair, tying it into two braids after combing it. She wanted to look her best today, but didn't like to stand out. She sighed sadly as she ate her breakfast alone. Her parents were already gone, and she was late. She'd have to get a taxi. "Great," she said, somewhat sarcastically.

Back in her room, Suma put on her favorite pink shirt, instantly giving her much more confidence. She smiled at herself in the mirror, after brushing her teeth to make them shinny and white. Today, she decided, would be a good day.

Taking her small white bag with her, she happily flew out the door, almost running into the picket fence surrounding her property. She opened the latched gate and pushed her glasses farther up on her face, as they were slipping down her nose.

"Maybe I'll walk to VirtuGames," she said, already setting off down the street with a smile, looking down at her feet shyly. When she got to the headquarters, she looked up at it nervously. Of course she had been here with her parents, many times, but standing in the doorway, she felt very vulnerable, and even almost went back to her house. But the thought of the game and her privilege to play it made her stay, and walk in the glass doors.

Inside, a woman looked up at her with a smile. "Er..." Suma said, slightly unnerved. The woman smiled up at her. "Hello Ms. Nagasaki. Here for the game testing?" Suma nodded, starting to fish out her ID from her bag. "An ID won't be needed," the receptionist assured her. "The testing is in the basement."

Suma nodded, walking towards the elevator already. Before she entered, she turned around. "Thank-you," she mumbled shyly, making the woman smile again before she pushed the button to go down on the elevator.

A girl who seemed a little bit older stood in the hallway, but Suma passed by her, looking at her feet before turning into her own room, labeled with her name. Inside was a suit, helmet and gloves. She slipped on the gloves first, flexing her hands. She breathed in deeply, her cheery attitude coming back to her as a smile appeared on her face. She couldn't wait to start playing.

Toshi was listening to punk rock on his iPod when the driver came to a halt outside the VirtuWorld building. Toshiaki tossed a large bill he found in his jeans at the man, who caught it, bowing and muttering many thanks. "Don't make a big deal out of it," Toshi said, beginning to get annoyed with the man. He slung his iPod cord around his neck and strode confidently toward the building, the sun glinting off of his crimson hair, making it stand out all the brighter. The recepicionist at the counter asked for his ID. Toshi rolled his eyes and snatched his black wallet out of his right back pocket and flipped it open. The woman nodded. "Testing will be held in the basement," she said, gesturing toward the elevator. Toshi nodded, shoved his wallet back in its usual place, and got in the elevator. He arrived on the floor to see a girl standing there with her helmet off. Did she want to proclaim to the world who she was? He gave her a long look from the corners of his green eyes as he walked a little slower than before to the door marked with his name. "You've got to be kidding me," he muttered at the fashion faux pa. However, he changed into the garment which fit comfortably but securly around his tall slender frame. He made sure to put his helmet on - he could watch the others without him knowing, and a sense of anonymity would make gameplay more interesting. He exited the room and leaned against the door, his arms crossed behind his head.

Meimi felt uncomfortable about getting into the form-fitting suit. She wasn't overweight - she knew that - but she felt awkward just wearing shorts. She realized that the helmet would help with the problem. She put it over her head, leaving her gold hair hanging down past it. After she finished changing, she hestitantly walked out into the hallway. Two players were already suited up, though the girl didn't have her helmet on. Meimi looked at her and then the boy curiously behind her helmet visor. It was then that she wondered how they knew exactly what sizes they were. They probably had asked their parents. Still, it was a little creepy. When would they get to go into the double doors? That was obviously where the testing area was. She wanted to go over by them, but didn't want to crowd the girl already there. Meimi always had this indicisive problem. Whether it was what shoes to buy, whether to talk to a boy, or something simple like raising her hand in class. Hopefully, she would get over that as soon as she entered the world of The Dividing Line. She wondered breifly where the name had come from... What did it mean? Was it a part of the plot? Really, what did she know about this game? It was the feeling she got on a rollercoaster, already strapped into the seat. She wanted off so bad, but she had committed herself. She glanced down at her black suit, dotted with a bunch of sensors. As soon as she put on the suit, she had signed on for the ride. There was no going back.
