I'm in the midst of my English teacher's obsession with William Faulkner & honestly, I don't blame her.

He is absolutely amazing. I'm 118 pages in Light in August & we have already read his short stories of Barn Burning & A Rose for Emily.

He has a timeless grasp on how generations change & how the older generations view the newer ones & vise versa

Anyone else a fan or have read those stories & that novel?

I studied Faulkner's Burning Barn last year in Lit. class. Ugh.
Maybe it was because it was just an awful translation [read it in Hebrew] but I just got so bored and frustrated I gave up.
Maybe I should give it a go in the original English before I vow to keep away from Faulkner. pirate

Faulkner is very big into Stream of Consciousness. He actually took some of the technique off of Fyodor Dostoevsky, a brilliant Russian author (my personal favorite).

It's very hard to follow at first, but it's very fun to read afterward.

I guess reading Hebrew isn't the best to read it in at first, but his stories are wonderful & universal
