Hi everyone! My name's Luna, I just joined and I'm really glad to be here. So anyways, as I am no doubt amongst some real bibliophiles, I was wondering if anyone here is a member of paperbackswap.com? If you've never heard of it, go check it out RIGHT NOW!
As you can see from the name, it's a site where you trade books. You create an account, post at least 10 books to your virtual bookshelf, then other users can order those books from you. You are then notified via e-mail of any orders, you set a date to mail the book(s), you print out the person's address, you wrap it up and you mail it out. The average shipping price is about $2, maybe a little more. Then when the person recieves the book you mailed them, you recieve a credit which you can then use to order more books from other members (the person you order from pays the shipping cost.) This site is a godsend for people like myself who read like it's a dying artform (I guess it kind of is in this day and age, but we'll not go into that right now.) I've gotten rid of all these old video game strategy guides that have been sitting in my basement collecting dust for who knows how long, and in return have recieved all these good books I've been wanting to read but didn't have that much money. I've discovered lots of great new authors like Lynn Flewelling, Storm Constantine, and many others.
So yeah, I'm trying to get the word out about this site to as many people as I can, because I think it's truly an invaluable asset to real booklovers. My username there is lunaeclipse (easy to remember, eh?) If you've got an account there, post your username here. I think it'd be cool if we could all check out eachother's bookshelves and order from one another.

I've been an active user of Paperback Swap since July of 2007.
My library has a used book cart where they sell paperbacks for 25 cents and hardcovers for 50 cents. I usually pick up a bunch and list them on PBS.
It's great because the books go to people who want them and then I can use the credits to get books that I want. A cunning plan! wink
I've gotten 22 books through the site so far. biggrin
