Finished sooner than I expected. Once again, keep in mind, this is far from finished, but I wanted to see what everyone thought before I finished it.
Full SizeThere's an old alchemic theory about the philospher's stone, that if you create an egg out of the ingredients needed to make the philospher's stone, the egg will hatch and there will be the stone.
Scroll down to the Philosopher's Stone to see where I found this.
And on an alchemic text, there is the symbollic poem of sorts entitled the Hermetic Seal: "Make of man and women a circle; thence a square, thence a triangle. Form a circle (around the three) and you will have the Philosopher's Stone."
The alchemist in the picture is wearing what's called a
Solomon Seal, an ancient talisman designed to protect the wearer from physical harm. The center shape of a cross includes the names in Hebrew of the four angels of the elements: Seraph for Fire, Cherub for Air, Ariel for Earth, and Tarsis for Water. The external ring of the seal has the inscription, “They pierced my hands and my feet, I may tell all my bones," from Psalm 22.
The glowing symbols around the image are the symbols of the
elements.
So you can get an idea of what the final image will look like:
The words and symbols will have a glowing effect, and everything not lit up by the light from the Philosopher's Stone will be black. Basically the eggshell, the hands, and the Solomon's Seal will be the only things really lit up, though you'll see a hint of the figure behind it all.
Hope ya like it. I thought it was a neat idea.
