The language of angels, used to conduct a powerful magic. This is the magic that was recorded by John Dee and Edward Kelly, a powerful and complex magic that is also practiced by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
John Dee was an advisor to Queen Elizabeth but was also an astronomer, mathematician, astrologer, geography, and even occultism. He had an assistant named Edward Kelly, who had previously been a necromancer. It is said that Kelly was the one who looked into scrying orbs (similar to crystal balls) and received the message from the angels while Dee took the notes.
It is said, however, that Edward Kelly had once found the philosopher's stone, something that alchemists had all strived to create, something that is said to be able to convert any element into another. For example, lead into gold.

The Great Tablet
This apparently random sequence of letters is in fact a key to, well: everything. It is constructed from four smaller tablets (or Watchtowers of the universe) representing the elements of Air (upper-left), Earth (lower-left), Fire (lower-right), & Water (upper-right), placed around a cross of Spirit (Union). Considering that Enochian doesn't have upper and lower case letters, it seems strange that some letters are capitalised, but it's all part of the master plan. The original colouring of Dee was Air = Red, Earth = Black, Fire = White, & Water = Green, but the most common system is by The Golden Dawn, below in English.
Once this has been created, the real fun (sorry, magic) can begin: extracting names. Names have power, they can be used to summon and control things… dangerous things… very dangerous things. You have been warned… proceed at your own peril.
The tablet of Union can be read across or down to create 20 names: the Spirit names are EXARP etc., whilst EHNB contains all the elements and is attributed to Spirit.
Each of the 4 main tablets is split into four parts around a cross (line 2 & column 3), whose quadrant is reflected to an element in the same way as the whole; so for example the upper-left of Air is Air-of-Air, the lower-left is Earth-of-Air, etc. The cross itself contains the god-names for that quadrant, and the squares of the cross are called Sephirotic. From here things get really silly… er, interesting.
The God-name of each tablet is in the centre line but split into 3 names of lengths 3, 4, & 5, giving oro, ibAh, & aozpi, etc..
Each quadrant's God-name is in that quadrant's centre cross, so Air-of-Air's are ardZa & idoigo, Earth-of-Air are Oiiit & aiaoai, and so on.
Great Kings (Whirls) are formed from a clockwise spiral beginning off-centre on the middle line, producing baTaiVah for Air, iCzhihal for water, etc..
The 6 Seniors of each tablet are uncovered by reading outwards from the centre of each quadrant, producing hAbioro, Ahaozpi, Aaozaif, AVTotar, hTmordA & hipotga.
Kerubic angels are found in the 1st line of each quadrant (omitting the central cross), producing rZla, etc., but then companions are created by shifting the letters to produce Zlar, larZ, & arZl; they have dominion over medicine (air), metals & stones (earth), transformation (fire), & living things (water).
These are ruled by an archangel whose name is derived from the first name prefixed by the letter from the Black Cross (the plain one separating the four large tablets) to give ErZla.
Servient angels are summoned by the vertical God-name (idoigo) and controlled by the horizontal (ardZa), and their names appear in the next lines down, again with letter shifts, thus czns with znsc, nscz & sczn; they have dominion over mixing of natures (air), changing of place (earth), mechanical arts (fire), & understanding secrets (water).
Finally there are Cacodaemons or elementals of evil influences whose names are obtained by adding a letter from the Black Cross to the first 2 letters of the Servient squares, so for Air-of-Air they are: xcz, ato, rsi, & pfm; but they are summoned and then controlled by different quadrant God-names which are the existing ones spelled backwards (aZdra & ogiodi).
