I want the event to be something that sparks a lot of conversation and interaction between the characters. I think we have a good amount of people here now, so starting relationships, friendships, and animosity (especially that, as it's quite exciting) is now the primary goal.
Above I've listed a few of the choices we have for the events. Please vote for your favorite and/or discuss them in the thread below.

Mixer!!! What if the punch bowl gets spiked...XD
Imagine the insanity! Oh! OH! And Gregor might get snagged by girls to dance...and just how would poor little Karel cope? He'd have to find underclassmen girls to dance with...so sad to be so small xd Then again...he may just bring stilts...
And the insane flirting all around the room? And the Anthy mischief that would come about? Chu Chu attacking life as we know it? YES PLEASE!!! heart

Hmmmm....definitely going towards the insanity of a dance. I guess the Student Council will have to decorate the gym. xd
Although an Open Mike Night could bring about some interesting things, but there's much less room for mixing and socializing. And that's our main objective, right?

Well, looks like a mixer it is, then. Student council members can do the decorations if you wish, but as the school is rather enormous and they do have one actual ballroom, I don't think it'd be realistic for four people to decorate its entirety. I was thinking it'd be a group effort between many selected members of the Art classes, and the teachers in charge of the dance. The student council would probably handle more spontaneous dances, like a Spring formal or a Halloween party. (Or St. Martin's Day. Hee hee, culture.)

I think the Student Council would have to be in charge of part of it. Maybe one of them would oversee decorations(Angel?), one would oversee advertizing wih flyers and such(Rachel maybe?) one would oversee the setup (lights and speakers and all that crap... Adrian) and one would... just boss everyone else around. (Hmm, I guess that leave the President. xd )
I think it's a great idea, and this also allows for the Student COuncil to have an "unofficial" meeting when they have to organise this.
But the field trip idea is good too, we should save that for another event.

Hm. My plans for it didn't quite include the student council, though. sweatdrop Don't kill me, I'll fit them in.
Basically, this dance would have been planned before the school year even began. It's an annual thing. (The previous student council would have been part of the planning and fund-raising for the dance. I'm basing it off of how my old school did proms.) The decorations haven't been purchased yet, but it wouldn't make sense for one of the student council members to be assigned in charge of them, because they may or may not have the ability to decorate well. What they will probably do is oversee certain things, like the final stages of decorating and organization (lights and speakers), and they could be around to help enforce rules at the party and help people mingle. However, the actual decorating will be done by art and drama students, and the lights and speakers...same. (Although, since a few of the student council are in Art classes, they will probably be helping with the decorating.)

(Although, since a few of the student council are in Art classes, they will probably be helping with the decorating.) That's what I was thinking. The Student Council would be (at least nominally) in charge of making sure the different dance committees (decoration, publicity, technical, etc) would be getting things done, getting more funds allocated if needed, etc. Helping people mingle at the dance, of course, but that's not really behind-the-scenes work. They may have been left with the theme and funding for this year's dance by the previous Council. That could be a reason to call a meeting -- and have Karel deliver his goodies all at once, yah? wink

Ahhhh, idea. Can one of us be announcers for the night? As in giving a little welcoming/ending speech and announcing any activities that might be going on?
I agree, I didn't imagine the student council would be doing EVERYTHING. But it does make sense that they oversee the whole event, in my experience the Student Council is always in charge or such things.

Yamino Tenshi Ahhhh, idea. Can one of us be announcers for the night? As in giving a little welcoming/ending speech and announcing any activities that might be going on? I still haven't half-planned this thing out, but sure. Here's how it goes, people: they're going to have a sign up for art and drama students to do the decorations and tech things, like light adjustments, sound systems, and other such things. There'll have to be a lot of these students. If your student is an Art or Drama student, feel free to have them sign up. The schedule has been pre-made by the previous student council, and the money for everything has already been raised, but this student council in this year is in charge of the catering, the flyers, and the announcements over the intercoms. One member will oversee decoration, another will oversee the drama students doing the tech stuff. (Obviously, these are the students usually assigned to stage crew.) One student council member can make the speech to begin the mixer, and another speech to end it. The dance will be set for Friday in the roleplay. Currently, we're on Tuesday, so the student council has plenty of time to get out flyers, make announcements, and order from a catering place in town. You're also in charge of recruitment, so one of you needs to get out the lists and put them in the Art rooms.
