Anyone want to debate, talk about, etc, religion and homosexuality? Or just religion and homosexuality.. separate.. (Forgive my speech, my brain in dead right now)
When someone joined, I forget who it was, she said she would like to debate on these topics.. (If this is you say: OMG THAT WAS ME!!) xD
I am knowledgeable on both subjects, and I might even pull some stuff from Lina Lokis' threads. (To those that dont know, he researched the bible and what it had to say about homosexuality, etc, and hes got TONS of citations to back his stuff up with.) I dont have much else to cite but him, but I can argue my point to where I make a crap load of sense. 3nodding
I researched but never really wrote anything down.. and then my awesome pastor, actually did all the work for me. eek sweatdrop I have her pamphlet that I can cite. n-n
Anyone can join this chat, questions will be more than welcome. Just please, PLEASE dont be a douche. For the love of my cat.. D:
Ill probably post it.. somewhere.. I gotta find a place for it. Maybe itll just go here. -shrug-

Maybe we should make a separate subforum for debates and stuff?
Meh, maybe when the time comes.
As for the religious debate, I'm going to find the time to do some of my own research and stuff. So, yeah.
HOMOSECKSYOUALITEE ARE SIN!
Kidding. o_o

I think all gay and lesbian Christians feel that way.
It's not though, from the pamphlet I've read and my pastor educating me when I was in Ohio.

 Religion causes wars.
I disagree with religion. I believe in God, but I do not want to follow any certain religion. I suppose you could say I am a Christian because I believe in God and know that Jesus died for all of us.
That's just me. I'd prefer to just believe in God, because when it all comes down to it, religion just gets people in trouble.
That's pretty much my view. I'm down with God, and he's done so much before my very eyes that I know he exists. ^__^;
Religion= Bad God= Great

I'm an atheist, but I still respect Christians and people of other religions too, unlike a lot of assholes I know, and I think debating and discussing would be fun. blaugh

Eh... well I grew up catholic, so I was raise with my VERY religious Grandmother telling me I was the devil incarnate, ...... ok maybe she had more tact than that but she was thinking it xp . But me and my girlfriend go to Sunday morning service every week. So maybe it's more the Individual than the religion, meaning we have no enemies at our church nor do we have to hide the fact that we're gay. Hmmm...... this reminds me I haven't gone to confessional in a couple of weeks gonk

Well, I don't really get it whenever someone puts that "Homosexuality is a sin" when their're religion isn't the only one on this planet. Religion is not an escuse to be "hated" on or anything like that. It's like me telling someone to be jewish or die in hell. It's wrong and compleatly disturbing in some cases on how far people actually protest towards gays due to religious reasons. Many people, even peers that I have worked with and know me, say things like "I know a therapist who can help you." or "Don't you know what god sees?" Look, I'd hate to say this, but yea, we all have DIFFERENT oppinions on god. My god's blind. There's a long and logical reason why I believe that whatever this god is, or connection, is blind. It's what I see in. Homosexuality is not a sin unless you agree that it is. Religion is a form of hope. Let's get that strait. No matter how deep a religion is or how the world started, religion always breaks down into a form of hope in many different ways. And hope belongs to yourself. If it belongs to yourself, then who yourself is isn't a sin. You can't be a sin unless you inflict something negative onto another, such as murder. Even that doesn't qualify as a sin in my book, however, it's nothing good.
I'm very complex when it comes to religion and homosexality...lol.

I remember wanting to do one of these. so possibly "OMG THAT WAS ME!!) xD - I think thats what you did....lol
So I have been growing up in a Christian home my entire life. We don't really bring up the subject of homoexuality regularly, until I turned 12....
That was......4 years ago. So as you can probably guess by now, that topic has been hashed over so many times. My parents are still clueless that I like girls...its sad really. I think they are just denying it, even though I havent officially "come out", so to speak.
I love going to church. I am a devout Christian, and I am not ashamed to say that. Understand, I respect everyone for every single one of their beliefs, don't get me wrong, I just have a different perspective of the world, life, and 'hope' (i guess).
There are primarily 2 different 'types' of Christians.
1. Liberal Christians. - they promote same sex marriage and civil union ceremonies in the church, slavery, oppression of women evil , and all that jazz.
2. Conservative Christians - they feel that the Bible talks about homosexuality as a very serious sin. They, for instance, believe that the Bible was written by those who were directly inspired by God, so it is free of error.
As you can see, both have bad traits about them.
Here's my view. I believe that yes, the Bible was wriiten by God inspired men and yes, it is flawless. I also believe that homosexuality is a sin. Of course, I pose the problem that I am a lesbian, so what am I supposed to do? Just ignore my impulses and instinct and live my life in torment? No.
Homosexuailty is a sin. Yes. Lying is God's most hated sin. Yes. Stealing is a sin. Yes. Disobeying your parents is a sin. Yes. Having bad thoughts towards anyone is a sin. Yes. All are sins and we perform all of them all the time. No one on Earth is perfectly flawless. Except Jesus Christ. But He doesnt really count.
God wants us to repent (do a 180 degree turn) and walk away from whatever that sin is. He wants us to understand that it is wrong. He loves us. Very much so. But he hates it when we break his rules. People will say, "Well, lying and stealing are short lived. Homosexuality is a lifesyle." Actually, the truth is, people 'criminals and regular people' lie and steal everyday. Everyone. Stealing crayons from a luch box and lying about it does count. wink So, if you act upon something regularly, wouldn't that be considered a lifestyle?
My church talks about the view of Christians all the time. We are often seen as hypocrites, idiots, mean, cruel, and we are judgmental about everyone, except ourselves. Well, if thats how you see us, I just wanted to poke my head through the door and wave at you. My pastor touched upon the subject of homosexuality and said how God hates sin. All of it, but He loves us. All of us. So you being gay doesnt make you any lower than any one else in God's eyes. It actually makes you closer to them.
I hope I don't aggrivate any one. That would be the opposite of my goal. Besides, why did God even make men.... So He could make a rough-draft. duh?

Ok so for those that dont know by now, Im a christian. (its very obvious in my profile.. as is my stance on homosexuality.)
Deave, good job. You didnt aggravate me. n-n Cant speak for everyone though. But oi, you did a lot better than this street preacher one day.. o-o He gives christians baaaad names. Hes all like, I can judge everyone of you! ..Among other bull he said. stare ANYWAYS.
Although.. I do disagree with you on some things.
The main being that homosexuality being a sin. The only thing it is, is unnatural. (the natural being heterosexual, ONLY because they reproduce.) And everything unnatural isnt a sin. Like bicycles. o-o
As Ive said in the first post, Ive done research. (forgot to say what conclusion I came to IN that research.) I shall state it now. Better than never eh? Homosexuality isnt a sin.
(Life story warning. Its short, dont freak out.)
Now in high school I struggled with being gay. My first year, I got saved. Yey! n-n But then later, (my school was christian) they started to preach on being gay was a sin. I tried being straight. Going out with guys. That didnt work well. I didnt even want to hold their hands, and kissing was so out of the question. So for 2 years I went thought this phase of wanting god to hate me. Begging. If this is what I am, he must hate me, yes? The feeling was worse than.. well anything. So I got a gf and wasnt really close to god for say.. a year. Then I found this church, (a bit embarrassingly on the internet, searching for gay churches..) in which the pastor had done some awesome research on the bible and what its got to say about homosexuality. (long story short, my pastor and loki pretty much came up with the same stuff, so I guess I can just get my stuff from him if need be.) Even then I still wasnt comfortable with the research. I didnt know what it was. Now I do. Gods love. No, I had it. But I had to experience it and accept it.
Sooo today Im more comfortable with it. Im not where I would like to be. Im pretty sure no one is ever there. But its good to always strive to get there.
Oh and my profiles statement pretty much sums everything up. (the 1611 bible doesnt contain the word homosexual, therefore it was JUST PUT IN THERE.) Since the bible is flawless, and the older the translation is, the more reputable it is, it would only make sense that the 1611 version (the year) would hold truer than something made say, oh, today.
Ok ok I guess Ill stop for now. Plus my gf wants on.
Questions or whatever are welcome. I just ask that you respect me, and I will do the same for you.

I officially love you. (not in the romantic way) lol
I just finished looking for some info on what you were talking about Ky-Chi, and I found this page.
First, let’s start with some fundamental groundwork. Some people, uneducated in scripture, are under the mistaken impression that all forms of sexuality are sinful according to the Bible. With this misconception, they readily disregard anything the Bible might say with regards to sexuality, choosing instead to side with their sexual desires. What they don’t understand is that they are completely wrong. Sex is a creation of God, who pronounced all His creation “good!” Sexuality is not sinful. It is a wonderful part of God’s plan.
Hebrews 13:4 states,: “Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”
Of course, here in America, we are not allowed to get married, so the government is pretty much preventing us to do by God's law. They are forcing us to sin.
I have to get off and go to a church concert, but I loved your post. I am interested in your point of view.
