Located off the coast of the Fire country, this crescent moon shaped island had been isolated for many centuries before they were finally discovered by the sixth Hokage. The Moon village, know for it's high quantity of medical supplies, is one of the only two neutral villages and is located on the highest mountain on the island, but is only revealed fully on the night of the new moon. The Tsukikage has taken great lengths for many centuries to protect their people and the barrier surrounding the village only allows those who are invited in through. If anyone shows ill will or malice towards the village the Tsukikage can chose to expel them from the village using the barrier or the barrier can choose to remove them on it's own if the threat is great enough. This barrier can not be destroyed, if any such attack is attempted against the Moon village, it will only cause the barrier to get stronger. This barrier is accient and was created to protect the sacred temple that was once the home of the Tsukimegami (moon goddess) whose has left a piece of her power in the temple in the form of a stone, this stone will protect the Moon village at any cost. It is not uncommon for the Moon village and the surrounding forest to be covered in snow because of the altitude and location of the island.
