Beyond the main gigantic vaulted iron doors of the Academy lies the Grand Hall. Textured marble floors extend across a vast expanse, leading to stone and carpeted stairwells that lead up to landings, which lead to different, smaller stairways, in turn leading to higher landings, all of which have pillared balconies that look out into the Hall itself. Enormous tapestries, depicting wars, kings, heroes, and villains of all natures decorate the towering stone walls, along with etchings, carvings, and family trees that crawl and splice like vines running farther up than the eye can see. Light is provided by numerous stained-glass windows depicting similar decorations, as well as floating braziers suspended in midair by magic, and some smaller ones that can follow individuals around. The Hall is the main access point to all other locations within the Academy.

A soft and slow melody played throughout the grand hall. It did not merely bounce off the wall, instead, it actually went through and passed along the other corridors that lead to the other parts of the Academy. By following the music, anyone could trace it to the highest landing in the grand hall, where at the top, they would find an elf leaning against one of the pillars playing his flute underneath a window. While a girl glided around him and the pillar with large graceful steps. Her hands held out from her sides like wings and her lightpurple dress glistening underneath the light shining through the stained glass.
Lifting his eyes to gaze at the girl, the elf chuckled and the girl turned around with a blank face, but a confused look in her eyes. "oh, I'm sorry Aura, it's just, no matter how -little- you try to dance, the others always want to join in..."
She looked around and saw many birds hopping around on the floor. She turned back to the elf and smiled, "well then why did you stop playing? Dancing is no fun without the music, right big brother?"
"haha...yes, alright."
The music resumed as more birds appeared, a few chirped along while more jumped down from their high posts to dance with Aura on the floor.

Beyond the music, the sound of lone applause could be heard. A man, most likely a Selkie by his style of dress and hair, entered the huge hall. His twinkling eyes complimented his sly smile.
"Wonderful. I am always a fan of such beautiful din..."

Baiyu led Ren into the room. "Well, that was a soothing balm to sore ears..." He smiled.
Ren rolled her eyes and looked at the other Maester. "And this idiot is just annoying.... This is what, the second time we've met?"

He looked over at Ren. "Yes, but from the consequences so far, it might look as if you're stalking me..." He laughed, knowing full well how much it might irritate her. "So you got tired of all those fools in the library?"

Ren narrowed her eyes at him. "I was dragged her by this air bag, and as far as I'm concerned I'm SURROUNDED by idiots. The only thing worst about Baiyu is that I have to live with him!" Ren sighed and pulled her hood further over her head.
Baiyu laughed and waved at the other. "I'm Baiyu."

He laughed. "They say the one who calls another an idiot is an idiot himself. Or herself. So why not join the crowd? After all, it's the most unique flower in the garden that gets chopped off for the bouquet."

Ren's nails dug into Baiyu's arms.
Baiyu winced then smiled. "Heh heart Poor Ren getting angry? I might pay for this later, but he's right... You stand out like a sore thumb in this crowd. Sore thumbs tend to get smashed more often than not..."
Ren tossed her hood back and knocked Baiyu across the room. "That's enough, idiot." She said coldly.
Baiyu burst out laughing and stood back up. "That's the first time you've been angry enough to lash out. I guess you aren't as "proper" as you'd like to think, my lovely little black hearted flower." Baiyu laughed again and stepped behind the other Maester.

Baiyu's blue eyes brightened slightly. "I am, and you'd be even more surprised to learn about your relationship" Baiyu laughed and leaned closer. "I'm the only person she's ever really listened to, and I'm the only one who's made her blush.." Baiyu tilted his head to the side, watching Ren glare at them.
Ren knelt down and sat on the floor, watching Baiyu closely. "You're talking about me, Baiyu."

Baiyu laughed and looked at the floor. "I have this uncanny ability to read people, especially when I know the Alteranima. She's an odd person, but I assure you that she's not without reason for being the way she is. Ren didn't grow up well, even for a Daemon. When she was younger, she was a very cruel lady. I'm sure she still has some agenda behind her actions, but she's been settling down some. I still fear for the 'idiot' who makes her angry though.... and her Flank I'm sure is pushing the matter by not reporting..."
Ren listened to Baiyu for a few minutes before untying her boot and throwing at him, hitting him in the head. "I'm sure the Maester doesn't want to hear about my past, so why don't you chat about something else?"

He laughed. "Ah well. I suppose we all have skeletons in our closets... Though some are rat's bones, and some are dinosaurs." He looked up at the great hall. "So how are you getting along in Black Lotus?"
