The library is among the most extensive databases in the world, containing thousands upon thousands of scrolls on every imaginable subject; only the kages and perhaps the Akatsuki have more data at their disposal.
In addition to the library, there are numerous bedrooms (Yamanaki's, Karu's, and several guest rooms), a kitchen, some bathrooms, and a living area/dining room. All in all, it's fairly obvious that from the moment you walk in, a very wealthy family lives here.
Below the mansion, there are rumors that a vault exists, hiding many strange and terrifying secrets from the world. Not even the Kazekage herself knows whether this is true or not, and the Mitsude are not willing to talk.
THE LEY WEAPONS
These legendary swords, though they are known of in Sand, have secrets that are known only by the clan itself. Completely indestructible, these weapons have endured thousands of years, and have outlived countless wielders. Zetsumei, one of the very first to possess the Ley Power and use it well, forged these weapons, pouring his very soul into them. The blades never chip, rust, or dull, and each was rumored to have fantastic powers.
Hidden Psychic Arts: Hidden Power of Ley Blades
Characer: Mitsude Clan
Element: -
Rank: -
Type: Bloodline
CP: 50, + 10 per tech use
When Zetsumei first forged the five legendary Ley Weapons, he imbued into each a Hidden Power, one that could only be used by the weapon's true master, and only after a great deal of training with the weapon or knowledge of how to use it. Each weapon contained a different power. If a Mitsude has been chosen to receive one of the weapons, then they can unlock this power.
Stat boosts on activation: CP, INT, SPD x2
Eisei, the blade of Eternal Life: A Chinese-style longsword last wielded by Kouryuu Mitsude. Can heal an otherwise fatal wound perfectly, and can even restore a corpse to life.
At the moment, this blade is sealed in Kouryuu's tombstone. The next destined wielder is Tasukaru Mitsude.
Eimin, the blade of Eternal Sleep: A three-bladed scythe last wielded by Yamanaki Mitsude. Allows the user to call forth the dead (see how Yamanaki summons Zetsumei).
Yamanaki still holds possession of it.
Eikai, the blade of Eternal Suffering: A vicious, serrated katana last wielded by Amano Mitsude. Forces the target to relive the pain of every wound he has ever suffered.
The blade disappeared when Amano died, and had never been recovered until the fateful day when Amano finally succeeded in taking complete control over Karu and returned to the village, calling back his old sword.
Eizen, the blades of Eternal Wisdom: Twin shortswords last wielded by Kazaana Mitsude. Created a barrier that would absorb attacks used against it, restoring the user's chakra in doing so.
These blades are rumored to be somewhere within the mansion, though this is unconfirmed. Next wielder is unknown.
Shichizai, the blades of Eternal Justice: The 'Seven Deadly Sins' last wielded by Zetsumei himself. For every sin the target had ever committed, the Shichizai would actually cut their soul, causing pain and draining the opponent of their chakra 20 CP per hit.
Their exact location is unknown. Whenever Yamanaki summons Zetsumei from beyond the grave, he is wielding the Shichizai, which suggests Zetsumei took them to his grave. It is unknown if there even IS a next chosen wielder.
A Condensed History of the Clan
What is today known as the Mitsude 'clan' has not always been so. The ways in which the Ley Power manifests itself are as numerous as they are enigmatic. Genetics has a small hand, yes, but it is possible for a person to randomly be born with The Power, though this is extremely rare. It seems that as long as Ley Energy is present during embryonic development, there is at least a one-in-five chance that the child will be born with The Power. The Power itself is extremely dominant, overriding genes and internal chakra to create the signature of the clan; purple eyes and white hair, coupled with an extremely powerful brain; no Ley User has ever been recorded to be anything short of a supergenius, the lowest IQ on record being 198, though the maximum keeps getting set higher. Valen himself had an almost-godly IQ, at a startling 327, far higher than any normal human has ever had. Kouryou Mitsude had an even greater level, at 332. The current record is held by Tasukaru Mitsude, who has a score of 354, something that is utterly outstanding, even for a Mitsude. It is theorized that prominent figures in the past such as Zetsumei had even higher scores. Considering the obvious correlation between a Ley User's skill and their intelligence, it is no wonder that people like Valen and Kouryou became revered on levels higher than even a kage or sannin.
The Ley Lines are a mystery unto themselves, not even the Mitsude have ever quite known what they are or where they came from. All that is known about them is that they are a massive web of energy encompassing the entire planet, connecting all things, living or unliving. It has been theorized that they are actually the chakra coils of the planet itself, though other theories have been made, from paths that guide the wandering dead to the whimsy of a higher power.
Another mystery of the Ley-Users is that every so often, roughly once within five generations or so, a user will be born with the strange and frightening power of prophecy. The last prophet to be born was Kouryou Mitsude, the only point in history where there were two Prophets born in a single generation.
The history of the Ley Users begins almost thirty thousand years ago, with two individuals who to this day have never been equalled in power.
The first was Kikaru Mitsude of the Sky, the second Metsujin Himomura of the White Wind.
They travelled the world as wandering 'shamans', helping all who needed it, leaving only a trail of happy people in their wake. It was said that their power combined was so great that they could rip mountains from their roots and change the orbits of stars at will. This is assumed to be exaggeration on the part of those who saw them, but they were nevertheless the most powerful Ley-Users to date.
But alas, for just as power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Metsujin began to lust for Kikaru, as beautiful a woman as she was, and over the years he had developed something of a superiority complex. Kikaru saw this darkness within him, and rejected his advances no matter how desperate. She eventually left his company, settling down with a kind-hearted man whom she had met over her travels, eventually having children with him.
Metsujin, on the other hand, seemed to disappear from the world. His rejection had driven him beyond the point of insanity. He began to hate Kikaru, eventually killing others in a futil attempt to release his anger.
The souls of these brutally murdered victims followed him, and their own hatred began to amplify his own. Over time, Metsujin's chakra began to turn dark, over the course of several years turning him into a twisted, hollow shell of what he once was.
He eventually sought out Kikaru, and attempted to kill her. The resultant battle between the two has been theorized to have occured in the area now known as Water Country, which according to maps procured from the time-period was once one single landmass. This is not only highly disturbing, to think that the two wielded such power to alter landsacpes so drastically, but it can only be asserted as true, as even within water country there are areas where plant life simply does not grow and a thick, almost toxic fume permeates the air. The area where this is most prominent seems to be the Attitude Correctional Facility of Mist. On the other hand, some areas are so lush with vegetation that it seems Kikaru's pure chakra had spawned life unto itself.
There are even texts from areas as far away as Sand that speak of a towering column of white as pure and radiant as the sun and a darkness as deep and consuming as the deepest of caverns.
In the end, the two of them ended up destroying each other, and that as they say is that.
The three children of Kikaru went forth, and they became fruitful and multiplied.
Over time, more and more Users surfaced, until approximately ten thousand years ago a man named Zetsumei appeared. He, too, was abnormally powerful, almost as much so as Kikaru and Metsujin had been. He was the first of his kind, forging the Legendary Ley weapons from an extremely powerful material that to this day has never been equalled in its strength and resilience. It's been theorized that they are formed from the Ley Lines themselves, though any attempts to prove such have failed.
Time went on, and Zetsumei took with him the secret of the Ley Weapons, to his grave. Nothing of great importance occurred until approximately two hundred years ago.
By now the ley-Users had become fairly populous across the Shinobi nations, and one stood above the rest. Valen Mitsude, one of the disciples of the Shodaime Kazekage, gathered the Ley-Users across the continent to him, forming a section of the village that to this day has remained an independent faction within and without the village. He layed down the foundation for the entire estate, amassed the library, created the Vault, and put together a history of the Ley Users. He created the Valen Artifacts, and even brought four of the Five Ley Weapons to himself.
At this point in time, the Mitsude Clan numbered around two hundred. They existed within the village, exerting their sway in more ways than one. They participated behind the scenes in most of the major conflicts that Sand was involved in. The first, second, and third great ninja wars all had Mitsude playing background tactics, turning the fury of the desert and natural surroundings against their foes. In this way the true power of the Mitsude remained hidden from the outside world; all others would see was elemental manipulation.
Valen himself had a wife named Lilandra and three children, Motoki, Kujaku, and Itsumo. It is from these three that the main branch of the clan was sired. Each Kazekage's reign was characterized by a particular Mitsude, working and supporting the village in the background.
Kasaki Mitsude worked under Niidaime, the firstborn son of Kujaku. He was most known for his development of the Hienpo art, as well as the Shintoku. He unfortunately had no children, meaning the line of Kujaku was ended.
Kiritsu Mitsude was the granddaughter of Itsumo, and she worked under Sandaime. She, disappeared when Sandaime was murdered. It is suspected that Sasori managed to overwhelm her. This has been corobberated by Sakura Haruno and Elder Chiyo's experience with him, as there appeared to be a single puppet in his arsenal with white hair. Fortunately, Sasori did not seem to know the full extent of the Mitsude power or how to use it, otherwise that battle would have ended rather differently.
Kiritsu's son Shikazu served on the council during Yondaime's reign. He was killed by the combined efforts of Orochimaru, Kabuto, and the then-members of the Sound Five along with his kage, ending Itsumo's line and passing the power of the main branch to Motoki's line.
The next clan head was Kozuru Mitsude, a descendent of Motoki and one of three Mitsude to work under Gaara. He was also present during the kidnapping of Gaara, though illness prevented him from aiding in the rescue efforts.
Shortly before his death, he sired a son, Azuko, who once of age became Clan Head, and advised Gaara for many years, until he died of old age approximately 60 years before the present. His own son unfortunately did not have The Power, something that was looked on as an unfortunate occurence. Nevertheless, it was this man who would sire the woman who would give birth to the three who would go down in history as the 'forsaken sons'.
Kazaana Mitsude was clan head during the final years of Gaara's life, and she was the first Mitsude in decades to wield one of the Legendary ley Weapons, Eizen the Blades of Eternal Wisdom. She married one of Gaara's grandchildren, and had three children, two years apart.
Amano, Yamanaki, and Kouryou.
These three brothers, the last three Mitsude to be born before the Massacre. Each grew up to wield one of the Legendary Ley Weapons, something almost entirely unheard of before.
Amano was set to be Clan Head, but during Kouryou's Chuunin Exams he revealed that he had utterly massive power over the Ley Lines, and Eisei activated druing his final match, causing him to completely destroy the competition. Shortly after that point, Kouryou was hailed as a genius among the clan and the 'second coming of Valen'. Indeed, he very quickly assimilated into the ranks of the ANBU, becoming squad leader after only a few months and ANBU Captain within only a few years. Sasori Satetsu, the Sixth Kazekage, had even named him sucessor to the village. It was the first time a Mitsude had even been considered for the job.
Then, the unthinkable happened just as Kouryou's rise to fame seemed complete.
Amano Mitsude, driven mad with jealousy and a startling superiority complex, massacred the entire clan, razing half the estate to the ground in the space of a night. It was something that shocked the world; not since Itachi's massacring of the Uchiha clan had anyone seen so many deaths, and never before had there been as much brutality. Victims had literally had their skin ripped off, more than one ANBU commented that the level of devastation was sickening.
What was even more frightening, however, was the fact that eyewitnesses reported a shroud of black chakra surrounding him.
Amano disappeared from the Sand Village, leaving behind his two younger brothers to deal with what was left behind in his wake. He went on to wreak havoc across all the nations, committing various crimes, some more heinous than others. He allegedly marched angrily into Leon Yamato's office, making an official complaint against Ichiraku Ramen because although they had a sign posted that said 'No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service' they had no right to deny him on the grounds of No Pants or Undergarments.
A stunned Leon could only acquiesce, after which Amano left the village, but not before sucessfully 'stealing' the ramen shop and crash-landing it right in the middle of Kusagakure's town square.
The Hokage later commented that it had never occurred to him to call out for an ANBU; the situation had been so absurd his brain had simply shut down.
Kouryou married Kiana Hikotsu, the niece of legendary Taijutsu Master Masashi Hikotsu, and eventually the two had their first (and tragically last) child together, which they named Tasukaru.
On the day of Tasukaru's birth, Amano returned to the village, this time with full intent to slaughter the remainder of his clan and everyone in the village. With horrifying new power, he almost succeeded had it not been for Kouryou, who drove him into the desert, and the two began a battle that could be seen and felt for miles around.
Amano seemed to have overpowerd Kouryou, and on the verge of death the Clan Head made a final, drastic decision.
He used the Ultimate Ley Technique, sacrificing his life to release the full power of the Ley Lines, creating a Psychic Void.
The resultant jutsu completely obliterated Amano, leaving a massive crater ten kilometers wide in the middle of the desert, which remains to this day, forever a testament to the raw power a Mitsude possesses.
Kiana contracted a rare, chakra-consuming disease shortly thereafter and died from it three years later, leaving her son in the care of Yamanaki Mitsude.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
THE LOWER LEVELS
The basement of the Manor is a labyrinth, spanning under the entirety of the village. This seeming endless maze of corridors is completely innavigable by anyone but a Mitsude, because the paths lead to nowhere and only a Mitsude can move unhindered.
It is this lower level that remains so very sought after by the greedier members of the village, with tales of gold and treasures from across the world, and more importantly perhaps the whispered rumors of The Vault, and the Second Library.
THE VAULT
The Vault, for 200 years the unsolved mystery of Sand. None but the clan and the Kage know it even exists, and only a Main Branch knows what is inside. For those priveleged few, however, the legend of The Vault is very real, for in the lower levels of the Manor, there can be found a massive door, sealed shut with the most intricate and powerful jutsus known to man. Anyone but a Main Branch who tries to open the door would be trapped inside The Vault until either someone found them... or they die from thirst and starvation.
Within the vault is the utterly massive fortune of the Mitsude Clan, the entire reason that so very few Mitsude ever bothered becoming ninja. Why would they need to, especially considering that they were so very obscenely rich?
However, other things are inside the Vault's walls. Most prominant is Eizen, as well as Valen's Artifacts when they are not in use. In addition, the two most prized posessions of the entire clan remain here: Zetsumei's Bloodstone Pendant, and of course... the Key to the Second Library.
THE SECOND LIBRARY
Even amongst the clan it is thought to be only a rumor, something so far-fetched that the thought of its existence is absurd. No member of the village has ever been told of this, only Main Branch Clan Members ever knew it to be anything but a fairy tale.
Even scans of the ground beneath the Estate have turned up nothing to so much as hint to the existence of a Second Library.
But yet...
The legend is still there.
Whispers of something so secret the clan would seek to keep it away even from itself. A secret darker even than Ultima perhaps...
A secret that has never been told, never been touched, not for two hundred years.
