The Characters
Guybrush Threepwood
This bumbling character is clumsy and not-so-useful, his only reputable talent being that he can hold his breath for ten minutes. He came to Melee Island in his late teens, hoping to become a pirate. Though, with his querky humor and clumsy nature, he isn't exactly a prime candidate. But he shows persistance in completing the three tasks required to become a pirate.
Upon sight, he falls in love with Melee Island Governer Elaine Marley, who doesn't exactly feel the same way about him.
But through the course of three games, their love is finally unfolded and they marry.
Now, they sail from island to island, searching for treasure and plundering any and all ships they can find.
Elaine Marley
After being romanitcally pursued by both Guybrush and LeChuck, Elaine chose the better of the two, telling LeChuck to "drop dead." After being proposed to by Guybrush, she was turned to gold by the cursed ring he gave her. She was finally turned back into a human and married to Guybrush (with a normal ring, this time).
After their extensive honeymoon, they returned to Melee Island only to find that she had been declared legally dead! She recampaigned for governer and lost against a Charles L. Charles, who actually turned out to be LeChuck. She and Guybrush defeated him in a horrendous battle, ending with them giving up the governer-ship to her grandfather.
LeChuck
After being told by Elaine Marley to "drop dead," he did. His ghost then kidnapped her and tried to make her his queen. He was defeated by Guybrush and sent to Hell. A few years later, he was brought back to life through the use of voodoo and his ghostly beard (!?). As a zombie-pirate, he continued to pursue Elaine, almost forcing her to marry him again. Luckily, Guybrush saved the day AGAIN, but only to be captured by LeChuck.
While in battle with Elaine (for her hand in marriage), LeChuck accidentally dropped his secret weapon: a voodoo cannonball. This caused a giant explosion, which was thought to have killed him. But no. He came back as a demon-zombie pirate, once again pursuing Elaine. For a third time, Guybrush thwarted his plans, burrying him in a mountain of snow.
But not a full year later, it is revealed that LeChuck survived! He campaigned against Elaine for governer of Melee island and won, only to be stopped by none other than Guybrush Threepwood.
He is now thought to be dead, although, in the past, this hasn't seemed to stop him.
