Ok my friend was take a part last night for her interpretation on the Rede

"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

she believes you should not hurt people to always try to be a good person ect...

This is more or less my thoughts was well

Last night she was told this didn't mean she had to be good just as long as she didn't directly try to hurt one person and she could be as evil as she wanted... (I think this person has a butt load of bad karma headed for them)

she then called me wanting to know if he was right well sens my interpretation is similar to hers. I wanted to know your opinions.

Well technically you can do whatever you want, it's just that karma comes into play.

You may be interested to know that there is more to the rede The Rede

I know that, I am not new to this I grew up pagan.... But I was always taught that you were to FAIRLY take and FAIRLY give to Harm Non, In perfect love and perfect trust.... Live and let live? I don't know guess I am old fashion....

Well I think the Rede is like a warning. You may do what you like, but you must know the consequences that come with doing what you want, and you need to accept them and deal with them when karma comes in to play.

The reede is like any peice of theological writing, it is meant to serve as a guide to correct and moral behavior. It being written for us wiccans who are all about freedom of choice, it is slightly vauge. I think the main point is that don't hurt people or it'll bite you in the rear. Do good and be good.

See that is most of our thoughts and the way I was taught but this guy went off on my friend and informed her she didn't know crap.... And as long as you don't get caught or as long as you do something to counter it his example every time he hexes some one he donates $50 to a charity.... To me that seemed messed up and almost make me ashamed of being pagan...

He really messed her up she came asking all sorts of questions like is he right I tried to tell her he was dark and I had never meet a "pagan" who used hexes that was usually voodoo...

Personally the darkest thing I have done is ask for the god and goddess to bring justice forth on a former friend who had backstabbed 3 of us and we got a karma a$$ kicking I admit the person who did wrong to us to what they had coming but so did we.....
I learned my lesson....

To me it means you can do what you wont when you want just don't harm eny one in the proces.
ex) if you make it rain were your at that means some were that mite realy need it will go with out. by making it rain were your at you've harmed the other place.

I don't think it really matters if you're directly aiming your malice at one person. If you're harming someone or something, there will be consequences. That's what the rede is basically saying. It's kind of like a mother telling her kid that if he throws rocks at other kids, the kids will throw them back. The guy who told your friend that is like a kid arguing that the kids won't throw rocks back if you're only throwing rocks in their general direction and then you go pick daisies for your teacher. The rede doesn't really work that way.

I think it means that basically be the best you can be, and think about your actions, but it's mostly just a guide. Karma is more the thing you really have to worry about.
