Kabuto conducts experiments of his own in here, and only has the ability to remove the special tags that unlock the gate. Orochimaru of course is the only one else that knows this

Kabuto sat at his computer console, furiously typing away. Several images were zipping across the screen, coming to the foreground and then retreating into the background. Complex gene sequences and subroutines were flashing on his other monitors. A dossier of Konoha ANBU were being carefully catalogued into a datafile. He was refining the dossier that Sai had given them so many years ago. They still held valuable information even if most were dead now.

Bakuto finished printing the documents and bound them together in two copies, one for himself, and one for Orochimaru. He put his copy in a safe and kept Orochimaru's copy on his desk until it was time to deliver it to him. Meanwhile, Kabuto wheeled over to a second console where the schematics for the original Sound 5 tests were showing. Each possessed a unique trait. Sakon and Ukon's cells were numerous in quantity. Tayuya had a unique temporal lobe. Kidomaru obviously contained more cells than an average human and many advanced sweat glands. Jirobou's muscle stats were off the charts and Kimmimaro's calcium deposits in his bones were off the charts.
All of this information was being downloaded and compared to other records. He began to type something. All of the security cameras in the entire village and compound came to life, and an entire wall behind him of screens lit up, depicting each of what they saw. They were of course recording for future study. Kabuto then walked over to a dead body on a table as he looked down on it. Numerous parchments were sprawled out on the body with seal markings on them.

"Kabuto." Orochimaru said descending the stairs. "I really hope... that you have been keeping busy... and discovering things that are useful to me."

Kabuto looked up from the body, looking over at him. "Of course, Orochimaru-Sama." He pushed his glasses back up for a moment. "I am recompiling our Bingo Book of the Konoha shinobi, mostly for any indications of clan records. And of course, I am examining the old Kyuubi boy we captured two years ago. Also, I've been working on things to counteract some of the known Akatsuki we know of."

A sinister chuckle escapes his thin white lips. "Ah Kabuto, always working so diligently." He traced his fingers along the wall. "I have no interest in the Akatsuki's dream of world domination. To control the world would mean that it would stop moving... I finds such a prospect dreadfully dull. But I realize that they truly are a problem, whittling down their numbers is the least of a favor we can do for their enemies I suppose."

"Of course, Orochimaru-Sama. But there is a secondary purpose as well. To ensure your safety without their constant annoyance. I am sure you would not be taken so easily though, milord. I am just being my cautionary self." Kabuto chuckled slightly.
"Orochimaru-Sama, there is also the matter of choosing another vessel, as we are nearing the deadline for your current body. I could have a few prospects within a few days, but nothing is for sure due to all the extra security I have observed in other countries."

That brought a scowl to his face... but thankfully it was not one directed at Kabuto. "Yes..." he hissed holding up his left hand. Two days ago he had begun to lose feeling in it and today it was worse, almost to the point where he couldn't move his fingers. "It is a damn nuisance but necessary. Eternal youth and immortality definitely comes with a cost." His glance returned to his most trusted subordinate. "Kabuto... With things as they are I have at least a week left."

Kabuto nodded. "It would seem that way. But knowing your resilience, you could push for more than that. A few days more perhaps." Kabuto walked over to his computer console and typed a few keystrokes. "Judging from the information I have gathered, there would be a few worth-while candidates that might be easy to obtain, even if the security in other countries has been heightened." The images on the monitor reflected on his glasses. "But they are Genin, and most likely not to your taste." He cleared his throat. "I would advise something to bring them out of hiding and into our midsts, where they would be easier to obtain."

"And all the while leave things open as they are? I hardly think that is a fitting solution." he hissed in mild frustration as he lowered his hand. "If I was to make such a distraction it would not go without jeopardizing at least one thing that I hold valuable. Genin or not I don't like underestimating levels of strength... not to forget that they are sure to have instructors." His normally passive mood was spoiled with the dilemma.

He thought for a moment. "There is always Shukoshu Kakuzu or Kanna Yajuu. They technically do not belong to anyone and judging from what I know of them, they do not have any Jounin keepers like some of the other Genin do." Kabuto looked over at Orochimaru for a second. He did seem weaker. The generally commanding aura he had was fading. "If it comes down to it, I might have to reanimate a corpse for you and you'd have to take that. As a last resort, though." He longed for the days they had legions of captives around the world that they could call upon when they needed them. "Do you not have any more captives, Orochimaru-Sama?"

He scowled. "I have not had any for quite some time... As soon as I procure a new body then that will be something to do... But as for those two..." he thought over it for a brief moment. "I doubt that I would be able to possess them since they are not human... during a time this dire it's not something I would really like to experiment with." He frowned. "Fate really does have a cruel irony doesn't it Kabuto." He sat down in his large wingback chair down in the lab. "To be struck by my own jutsu at a time like this... It is troublesome..."

"Irony affects us all, even one such as you, Orochimaru-Sama." He remembered last time he needed to transfuse. His arms were cursed and rotting, keeping him in untold amounts of pain. He did not wish to his lord go through that again. "Orochimaru-Sama, might I be so bold as to leave the compound for a day or two to hopefully gather a worthy vessel? In your current condition, I would advise you stay here. After all, I do not think the Twins would enjoy your venturing out in such a state. Plus, only a few people, me included, know about your jutsu's costly effects. If your enemies knew, there would be untold trouble."

It was extremely irritating for the great shinobi to actually agree to such a thing... but it was necessary in the end. "Kabuto... Even in this state I am not as weak as all that yet... but if you could find a vessel... at least a sturdy one... then you may take as long as you need before my time runs out... And then it's only another two and a half years before we have to go through this again..."

Kabuto waved a hand. "Orochimaru-Sama, you take it as if I am belittling you." He rubbed the back of his head before opening a metallic locker and taking out a cloak. "I will leave as soon as I am able to. Hopefully it will not take me long." He nodded towards him. "Orochimaru-Sama, I will return as soon as possible." He vanished in a swirl of leaves.
