Howdy ya'll
Recently, I've been watching CMT's (Country Music Television) latest offerings (for awhile I didn't have CMT because they switched it over to digital and we didn't have that here). I was kinda amazed to find that they now have more reality television crap instead of country music videos. In my view, CMT is portraying fans of country music in a bad light. Shows such as "My Redneck Wedding" are (in my opinion) disgraceful. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on rednecks, hell some of my best friends are rednecks, but I suppose my point is that not everyone who listens to country music is trashy.
Other shows like "Trick my Truck" aren't so bad but I just wonder what the true rellavince of these shows are to country music? It's as if CMT is trying to become some sort of off-shoot of MTV. Not cool... not cool at all in my opinion. Not all the shows are bad though, "Gone Country" does at least feature country artists. I'm not saying adding some new shows isn't a good thing but I think thus far the overall execution has been poor.
What are your thoughts?

I don't watch CMT much anymore myself because they don't play much music. I watch GAC which is Great American Country. They are not owned by MTV like CMT is. I am a country fan myself, but I am not a redneck. I don't even live in the country. I live in the suburbs. Here in Texas, there are many that are considered as rednecks, but that is true of much of the south. It's more of a culture thing to me.

Good to hear ya'lls thoughts on it as well. I didn't know CMT was owned by MTV...
Just an added note, I will check out GAC, I'm pretty sure we now have that as well.

I have a high respect for rural people because my dad grew up on a farm in Kansas and my grandparents lived there a very long time and still own the land. Not many stay in one place that long these days, it seems. Farmers have a bond with the land since it is what grows the crops or the grass that feeds the animals to make hay.
It seems everyone else is squeezing the farmer with the high price of energy, fertilizer and the unpredictable nature of weather. The song "Armarillo Sky," by Jason Aldean is about this as well.

I used to love to watch CMT but now whenever i get the chance to watch it (which is not often because i can't get it where i live) seems like there never is any music videos on so i have to search for some in the on demand thing... which there are not very many

Our CMT here in Canada is pretty good, they play a lot of videos throughout the day, and then programming in the evenings. Difference is, they play more Canadian videos..lol
