Okay. So to be honest, I'm pretty comfortable with my body. I'd like to lose a bit of weight, but overall I'm alright with myself. However, I've had a lot of comments from other people that I would look better 'this way'. Examples: "You'd look SO much better with contacts, you know?" "If you'd just lose a little weight..." "Those colors don't look good on you. Try a different one." "You should cut your hair short, it's so pretty that way!" "You need to wear tighter clothes..." "Don't dye your hair THAT color... Ew." And those are a few. Now THESE AREN'T FROM ONLY ONE PERSON. I get random comments from pretty much everyone. I know they're trying to improve me, but it's only bringing down my self-esteem. It's pretty much making me feel like I CAN be beautiful, but I'm not now. And I feel comfortable with myself, and if I start listening to all that advice will I ever get to look how I want to? I don't blame these people for telling me these things, I'm just questioning my real beauty now. Nobody's pushing me to do anything, but the way they talk it's hard for me to look in the mirror and say "Beautiful." anymore. Now, all I see are flaws. For those who are wondering, here's me:   Sorry for the size... ;.;

Okay, I'd like to start off this post by saying that you are gorgeous. You really have a very mature elegant face, and I'm pretty much dying of envy over here. Now, moving on to the issue at hand. I'm going to run through the comment examples, and give my opinion on them, 'kay? #s 1 & 2: Okay, these have more to do with modern perception of beauty and all that s**t. The modern aesthetic is more on the tall, slender form with fewer curves; you see it on the models in fashion mag and catalogs. And glasses have never had that much appreciation, I suppose. The one thong I have against glasses is that they often obstruct a pair of pretty eyes. #3: ... Well, it's a bit blunt, but the idea behind it is quite true. Some colors don't suit certain complexions (e.g., almost no one looks good in yellow). Before you wear something, you need to assess its color compatibly, or you might end up looking like a zombie. Almost everyone looks good in black and dark or jewel reds and blues, so those are pretty safe bets. #4: That's personal preference for the most part. Some cuts are more flattering than others, but it doesn't matter that much. I wouldn't worry about it; just do your own thing. #5: From what I can see in the pic, you've got some killer curves. That was probably just a tactless complement from someone who thinks you should should show your shape. #6: Well, depending on the color in question, that's probably either a biased opinion of a color deemed to be unnatural, or could be linked #3 in that it might not be flattering.
Okay, that's my evaluation of the given comments. But remember, everything about your appearance is a personal expression in one way or another, so do what you want, and don't worry about it. ^_^

Personally, I would just ignore them. I mean, because everyone has a different perception of beauty, and it's not what people who don't know you think. Just listen to your heart about what you think is right, and just a side note, you look perfectly beautiful to me from your pictures. and if you really want to know how people percieve you in person and how you look with certain things, how about asking your friends one day when you want to try something new, like " Hey guys, do you think I would look good with a little more green in my clothes?" or something like that, but only if you think you would like it first. don't do anything that you really don't want to do. Best of luck to you!

At some point we're the same. I have the least self-esteem in my whole class. I'm not proud of anything about my physical image. i still have not sought any help or advice.

Oo gah your so pretty!!!!!!!!
anyways... sometimes people say things like that because they are trying to help, but its an opinion.
everyone has their own idea of what they like and dont like, so for some people who preffer short hair they may say something like "you would look nice with short hair"
it could also be media effects... like if someone reads that short hair is now cool, then they may say you would look good with short hair
so the whole thing may not even be about looks, but about whats cool, new and popular
yes i am jumping a bit, but i hope that helps ^^

;D I love your skin. No joke. Quote: "You'd look SO much better with contacts, you know?" Nobody loves glasses anymore! D<Quote: "If you'd just lose a little weight..." -rolls eyes- That's typical. Nobody likes the big girls. D<Quote: "Those colors don't look good on you. Try a different one." Well, that can be helped. Certain things look better on certain people. I, for example, look awesome in orange and horrible in pink. xDD Jewel tones would be good for you, from what I can see.Quote: "You should cut your hair short, it's so pretty that way!" You can do so much more with longer hair. I've never liked short hair on myself, and I think you should stay with longitude. c; Of course, where I live it's freakishly humid all the time. More weight on hair=less poofiness ;DQuote: "You need to wear tighter clothes..." Noooo! Tight clothes don't work unless you're toothpick-thin. Quote: "Don't dye your hair THAT color... Ew." Personally, I think your hair is awesome. A person's natural hair color is usually his or her best.

All I can say is wow. What a smile. You are very pretty, the unwanted comments "advice" you've been getting, I'm sure is meant to be helpful. Everyone is giving great advice here. People have their own perceptions of beauty and if you are comfortable in your skin then stay the way you are. If you want to try new things, then try new things. You are going to grow and change your looks a thousand times, each time pleasing different people. Just be happy with yourself. You are beautiful.

Well, hello lovely!
I have to say that you are beautiful! And I mean that!
You don't have to change a single thing. You are absolutely gorgeous the way you are!
I know your friends are just trying to help, but you should talk to them. Tell them that the things they are saying to you are hurting you and your self-esteem. Let them know that you think you are perfect just the way you are.
I noticed that you said you are interested in losing a little weight. I mentioned something about this in another thread on how it's not weight you want to lose, it's mass.
However, I don't suggest trying to lose anything. All I will reccomend is that you try to become healthy and fit! <3 Don't worry about how other people view you. To me, healthy is beautiful.
Darling, don't ever let anyone control your looks. I tell this to all my friends and I mean it. Every single person out there is beautiful in one way or another. We are all made differently, with different strengths and we all need to learn to accept that.
Don't be misguided by what society deems beautiful. All I ever see on the TV are sick, wasted bodies... We weren't meant to live to stay in perfect condition. Our bodies are meant to be used not preserved...
I seem to have strayed from the issue... Haha. Sorry. I get carried away sometimes. xD
Well, I wish you a good week! If you ever need to talk, feel free to PM me. :]
