Well, Orochimaru appeared again after letting loose his hydra technique thing again (the picture above). Only to be fwacked by Itachi's blade. Since it was at the end of the chapter, we do not know if Orochimaru is dead or just in a state of pain and did not get back up. But now, Sasuke is vulnerable and out of power again.

oro won't die. we all thought he was alive in kabuto and kabuto only but that was just....eh, I wish he'd die again. I believe that orochimaru is just in a genjutsu forever now. Oh how I love that sword he used.
Now come on guys. Tell the truth. When you all saw orochimaru come back did yall get pissed off? I admit I did. I'm sorry but he needs to die......and stay dead.

I dun want him gone. There is something about him that makes him...so cool.
He is by far, the most terrifying person in the whole series, but yet, so weak and strong at the same time. I cannot do him justice in words. He made my top villains list after all.
1. Emperor Palpatine
2. Orochimaru
3. Ganondorf
4. Itachi
I mean, come on, I knew he wasn't out of the picture when he lost to Sasuke, and although he did get stabbed by that sword, it doesn't mean it is the end for him. And in the end of the battle, I believe it was a snake who took out Itachi. What I find interesting though, is Itachi "Fwaps" Sasuke on the forehead before going. So does that mean, he loved Sasuke even though he wated to destroy him for his eyes. I think that Itachi's whole life was leading up to this battle. He knew that either he had to get beat by Sasuke and that if Sasuke wasn't strong enough to do him in, he would be a lonely miserable old coot for time and all eternity... I sorta rambled on there

I really do not think that there is hope for Orochimaru. I mean, look what happened to that snake. It burned to death in Amaterasu. Who is to say that did not happen to Orochimaru?
Besides, I think Kishimoto wants the older generation to get going and die already so by the end of the series, the new generation can frolic in a field of flowers with bunnies and rainbows while galloping on unicorns into the sunset.
Well, maybe not that.
But, yeah. Move the old generation to the side to make room for the new generation.
And if you think about it, there is no point for Orochimaru to be around anymore. He served his purpose in helping Sasuke get stronger to ultimately kill Itachi, even though it was Itachi who beat himself to hell during most of the match.
The only way I see Orochimaru living is so he can die in a more dignified way than what he did.

ok soooooo i think orochimaru should stay dead for a totaly different reason, not that i dont like him, but for gods sake, this is becoming dragon ball z. fights are taking forever to finish, they bring main characters back from the dead.

But with Orochimaru gone, what happens to Curse Seals? If they don't have him to draw power from.

I don't think the curse seals themselves draw power from Orochimaru himself. More like they draw power from their user sort of like a parsite. Think about it a parasite or viruse that alters the body down to the chakra so that it uses more power at the cost of the maintenance to keep the body alive and well. Sort of like the gates but to a molecular form.

The curse seals do not draw their power from Orochimaru. The only way Orochimaru has any connection to them was because he cultivated the enzyme to create them. The seals draw power from the host (as Bluen said, acting as sort of a parasite) and then feed that power into host. Think of it like a super-adrenaline or one of those stupid energy drinks you see on TV. They give you a supercharge of energy, strength, etc.... And then you feel the effects (bad ones) of using that boost.

I you say so.. I think the thought behind getting a seal to run off of its bearer's own chakra and also produce the draining and enhancement effects of the curse seals is remarkable... and also kind of disgusting...
And then there's the fascinating complexity of leaving a gap or something so that the seal can be triggered by an external source, o some kind of infecter-recognition thing... but also be triggered by an internal source in order to drive someone into certain paths by strengthening or feeding off of emotion as well...
