Okay, so I heard a couple of people saying they liked Tamora Pierce. So what do you think of her books? Which one (or series) is your favorite? I personally like the Immortals Quartet, although it is very hard to choose.

I've read a lot of Tamora Pierce's book. Of all that I've read, my favorite was Song of the Lioness quartet. The Immortals were my second choice. Following that is Beka Terrior. I've also read Trickster's Choice and Circle of Magic quartet. I'm starting Trickster's Queen next, and I still have to read Protector of the Small quartet. Tamora Pierce is one of my favorite authors. Her books are great.

Protecter of the Small is good at first, but the last book is really boring. I haven't read Beka Terrior yet though. How was it?

Protector of the Small are my favourite Pierce books. I'm more attached to the Tortall universe than the Circle Universe, and I really love Kel. As a character, she interests me more than Alanna, who lucked out with her disguise. Kel actually had to be a girl training for knighthood.
My favourite of that quartet is Squire. I have a soft spot for anything relating to jousting, and there was a lot of jousting in that book!
I found Lady Knight was very different. It was dark, and I loved it for its emotional conflicts more than as a plot-heavy novel.

I agree, the Tortall universe interests me much more than the Circle universe. I guess it's just more realistic, or at least some of it is. I can relate to it more.

penandpaper67 I agree, the Tortall universe interests me much more than the Circle universe. I guess it's just more realistic, or at least some of it is. I can relate to it more. Tortall is more about social structures and war with magic. The Circle universe is more about religion and magic. When I first read the books, I was strongly more interested in the facets that were more present in Tortall. I think that's why people tend to prefer one strongly over the other.

I agree, although I am kind of biased. Although I said that I can relate to the Tortall universe more, I have actually read nearly all of those books, where as I've only read two of the Circle books. The Circle books, probably because of what is stated above, are just harder to get through for me. They don't hold my attention as well.

The circle books are good, but like most everyone else, I also prefer the books on Tortal. Besides the fact that it is easier to realate to Tortall, I think that it's also more interesting to be reading about people who are around your own age rather than a bunch of kids.
I personally loved the Imortals series, and my second favorite would be the trixters, then the Lioness quartet. I think the way Tamora Peirce uses the magic in those books is amaizing. She creates these lands that are simply beautiful, then fills them with some of the most powerful characters. Sometimes I wish that I could actually live inside her books.

Wow!!!! I love Tamora Pierce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorites would have to be the Trickster's Choice and Queen along with the Protector of the Small. I don't think there are any I don't like, though. What's Beka Terrior? Is it new? I haven't heard of it, and that may be because my library is slow to get books... or it may be that I'm just out of the loop since I haven't had time to read in months...

Through the glass, I watched you breathe, Bound and drowned, and paler than you've ever been... ---I love Tamora Pierce! I think my favourite series has to be the Immortals quartet, but they're all beautiful books... I'm just really annoyed about Lioness Rampant, because they don't have it in my library or anywhere else in my county! D: --- With your life the only thing on my mind, We pull you from the water...

Tamora Pierce has been my favorite author for over four years now. I've read ALL of her books, and haven't found one I didn't like. I read Wolf Speaker first, and then had to go back and read Wild Magic before I could go on to the others in the Immortals Quartet. My favorites are the Trickster's books.
I was hesitant to try her Circle of Magic books, since I didn't think they would be very good. However, I got The Will of the Empress for Christmas two years ago, when I was in eighth grade, and even though I was confused (since it was the first Circle book I had read), I LOVED it. I went back and read the first eight and really liked them. The Will of the Empress is still one of my favorite books by her. I recently got the Melting Stones audio CD. I'm not quite into it yet, since I'm not used to listening to books, but I like it so far.
I got to see her at a book signing when Terrier came out - it was one of the most amazing nights of my life! I got to talk to her for about 20 seconds when she signed my copy. I can't wait for Bloodhound to come out next year!

She's definately one of my favorite authors, and I always keep a sharp eye out for new books by her. I first got hooked on her with Trickster's choice and Queen. I loved the two and went back to try the lioness series, which I had attempted before but never really loved. This time I loved it though, and tore through all four books in a few days. Immortals was alright, I really liked the first three but got kinda skeeved out by the events of the fourth book. I won't explicitly ruin it for those who haven't read it, but those who have know what I mean. Protector of the small seemed a bit like a retelling of the Lioness books, so I was a bit bored with them.
I was hesitant to read the Circle books, too. I was afraid they would be too different from the Tortall books. Eventually though I bought The Will of the Empress and it confused me, but I still liked it and was interested in the world it took place in, so I went back and read all eight Circle books. After that I began to like them more than I liked Tortall. I found the characters more normal than those in Tortall. I also found the racial and class-related tensions in Circle to be more interesting than the politics of Tortall. Guess I'm the odd one out here.
Overall, I like both series but prefer Circle; Will of the Empress is my favorite. How is Terrier? I haven't read it yet. I'm a little hesitant to read it, too...

Terrier is really good. It's different from her other books (just because it's in first person, and can almost stand alone). If you like her other books you will definitely like it!
So I'm not the only one in the world who read The Will of the Empress before the other Circle books? Yay!
