Is there an artist that inspires your work?

Since I have been doing a research paper on influential properties on graphic designers, I have recently been inspired by Stefan Sagmeister <3 He is a very abstract designer who emphasises humanization and personalization in a majority of his pieces. He believes this helps the viewer make a personal connection with the designs and that an emotional connection is established right away with that viewer, to make the peice that much more powerful. Sagmeister also tends to get personally involved in his works; for example, a poster he designed for a museam is him photographed topless with words CUT into his body to represent the pain designers go through with each project. Another example is a promotional poster for one of Lou Reed's album, and he had Reed's face on the poster with words on his face from a song; the album itself was one of Reed's more personal recordings so Sagmeister wanted to represent that. There is a bunch more but i wont shut up if i keep going.

Anyways, that is one of my latest art inspirations. Another artist I am researching on for inspiration is H.R. Giger for DioRTe's logo im working on. For those that don't know, he designed the xenomorph in the alien movies and Johnathon davis' mic stand for those that know Korn.

As well as the alien desgin for the movie species. and a few others me thinks.

I dunno where I get inspiration, I get it from everywhere not one spesific place or artist. I dont like copying other's art, I find it's better to establish your own line of work so you dont get compared to others and can be known for your own not for being known for being simmiler to someone else's

I see what you are saying will. The reason why i look up to sagmeister so is that he doesnt follow rules. He isnt scared to break the borders and do what he wants to make people look. Its something i have been afraid of my whole art life is rules and design theory. He doesnt really care about that stuff. He inspires me to let go and be free with my art =)

If I had any drawing/painting talents, I'd totally post stuff here. Unfortunately, my hands are coordinated with my the words in my head, not the images =[ Luckily for me, that means I can put words to thoughts and emotions and stuff quite easily, which is definitely a plus when it comes to music, which I do like to believe I'm artistically inclined in =D

As for the work Pie's been doing for me, I've only been shown a small sample of it, but I'm impressed far more than I honestly expected to be. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that if I kick off as well as I hope that I'll have a very talented artist behind me creating an image for my sound that reflects the atmosphere, theme, and images I hope to evoke in people's minds =] Just a piece of what she's done already;

Sweet =] Something that's always irked me about a lot of bands is the lack of the imagery that they associate with their music. A lot of them just get a logo and use just that for everything, so it makes finding band art a pain in the a**. Nine Inch Nails is probably the best band I know that has a healthy amount of imagery that comes with them [or HIM, as it's basically just Reznor]. I like how all of the art looks digitized now, and I'm diggin' the whole apocalypse theme he's got going on. I'm one of those people who seriously think that stuff's going to really happen at some point, so I'm trying to prepare myself. I seriously see 2012 as the end of my music-making career U_U;

I quite like it myself though doing analog stuff is nice every one and again, my design teacher likes to get us back to using a pen and paper since he feels that most basic ideas can be drawn out in 10 seconds where in a computer you have to plan it out more, ( i have to agree though i use both methods for my stuff =d)
I noticed that most bands dont really have a logo >_> like when you are going to see a band in concert they make the merchandise themed of whatever cd they have out. and hey maybe it will be longer =) you never know =D

I do love the logo!
It's very nice, Pie.
: )

I get no inspiration, 'cause I'm not really all that artsy.
If I am feeling like I need to do something funny, then I usually take out a peice of paper and draw the head of a person. Then I name it and make a whole bunch of background information on it.
I haven't really been feeling funny, lately, though, so I've got nothing to show you guys.
