Okay, this is for reference to anyone who wants to know character ages. This is all done by the manga, which eliminates the dubbing mistakes in the American version. If there are any that I have missed, please fill free to assist. Although, please remember that some ages are never mentioned in the manga, which leaves us with only a guess. I'll start with the definate ones first. ((double posting is allowed))
Note: this will be under construction until I have more time to myself
The order (thus far):
-Goku
-Gohan
-Goten
-Krillian/Kuririn
-Bulma
-Mirai Trunks
-Trunks

We'll start with Goku:
-Beginning of db/
first tournament: 12
-2nd tournament: 15
-3rd tournament: 18
-beginning of dbz: 23
-when the saiyans arrive: 24 (if he wouldn't have died)
-Namek: 24 *
-Trunks' first appearance: 25
-when the androids first appear: 28
-Buu: 35 (if he wouldn't have died)
-end of dbz: 45
-GT: 53-56 ^
* If you remember correctly, the saiyans appeared months earlier than they should have, causing the journey to Namek to occur within the same year
^ GT was never very precise with identifing ages. Goku's age there is only a guesstimate as there is no announced time gap to use.

-beginning of dbz: 4
-sayians arrive: 5
-Namek: 5
-Trunks' arrival: 6
-Cell Games: 9
-Buu: 16*
-end of dbz: 26
-GT: 34-37
*Apparently the year spent in the hyperbolic time chamber/ the room of spirit and time does not have an effect on the age of a character. It is specifically mentioned in the manga that Gohan is 16 when he enters high school.

I have one serious problem with Gohan's age:
In the battle against Cell, he most definitely did not look like he was 9 years old! He looked to be in his teens throughout that whole time. Remember, there was a large time gap between coming back from Namek and Trunks's arriving.

I do know that, but that's how it is in the manga. Seeing as it says that he's 16 when he starts school, that's the age he has to be during the Cell Games (ie. 9). Also, it is noted that people age when in the hyperbolic time chamber, but that does not factor into the recorded age.

Hold on!!! He started High School AFTER the Cell Games!!! His high school, Orange Star HS, was in Satan City, which was named that because of Hercule's "defeat" of Cell.
The Great Saiyaman Saga was right before the Buu Saga.

I know that. I had to use it as a reference for his age. Gohan is 4 in the beginning of dbz, and 16 when he starts school. This allows me to guess his age when he is at the Cell Games as it was 7 years before he went to high school.
For example of my logic:
there is 12 years between the start of dbz and the Buu saga, and I know 2 specific ages (4 and 16). Then there are time skips to add in.
-the time of training before the saiyans arrive (directly mentioned that they arrived early)
-month trip to Namek
-year before Goku returns from Namek
-3 years between Mirai's first and 2nd arrival
-7 years between Cell and Buu
So to figure everything everything out, I had to go in reverse.
-16 - 7 = 9 (Cell Games)
- 9 - 3 = 6 (Mirai's first arrival)
- 6 - 1 = 5 (this last one shows that the saiyan arrival and Namek happened within the same year)

I pointed out directly that these ages are according to the manga, and in light of that, they're not wrong. Do not get confused with the anime, which has him older (in the anime Gohan's 11th birthday is right before the Cell Games). And DarkPrince, believe it or not Vegeta's age in never specified in the manga. Due to the anime it is believed that he's approximately 5 years older than Goku, but this claim is not varified.

I know that, but my mind just isn't accepting the idea that Gohan defeated Cell when he was only 9. I'm just having a hard time wrapping my mind around that.

GT: 25-28
...I've actually never noticed how old Goten was in GT before.... I can't believe that he's still living at home at his age. Get a life!!
