Faile had found the perfect place. Prowling the lands near South Seaside, she'd stumbled upon a rocky shore, sporting cliffs riddled with caves. As she explored, she discovered there was a large cave tucked away above the high-tide line, with a tiny pool of fresh water. With much pawing and poking at it, the black she-wolf had determined that it seemed to have some sort of permanence. Satisfied with that, she told herself that if the pool disappeared, the new pack could simply travel the extra distance to a nearby river...for she would make sure there was another source of fresh water marked within her boundaries.
Weary from her travels, she flopped down upon the beach, tongue lolling as she watched the waves crash against the shore.

Kyrro was curious about this stranger. He'd wandered out of South Seaside packlands, and seemed to have stumbled upon the same area as she. From his vantage point on the cliff, he stared down at her, watching. Nothing much seemed to be happening anymore, however...she was just laying there. Growing bored, lids started to flutter shut over bright green eyes. Just a little nap...

A 'little nap' wasn't in the cards for Kyrro, however. Feeling the sensation of eyes upon her, Faile's ears flattened against her head as her eyes darted around. Looking up the cliff, those eyes widened in shock at the glimpse of a dark, white-swirled figure. "Dax!" she cried out, running for the steep and narrow path up the cliffs. "Dax, what are you doing here?!"

"Where?!" Jolted to awareness, Kyrro leapt to his feet, looking about for the cousin he had heard of but never known. All he saw, however, was the black stranger with the strange adornment on her head, running...straight for him! Ears flattening against his head, he backed up so hastily he nearly went over the edge of the cliff. Reminded of where he was by the rattle of a pebble going over the edge, he stilled, watching the oncoming femme nervously. "You have me mistaken...who are you? How do you know Dax?"

Both disappointment and relief flashed across Faile's features as she slowed to a stop in front of the male. Disappointment that it was not Dax, relief that she wouldn't have to deal with her potentially violent son just yet. The last time she had seen him, the battle he had waged with Eiros had torn their family asunder. "I am his mother, Faile..." she said quietly, examining this familiar stranger. "Your markings are much like his. Who..." She trailed off, unsure of just what to ask. Who was this? Was he a son of Dax, or of Jaxom's brother Damu?

"Dax's my cousin, but I've never met him," Kyrro replied. "I'm Kyrro, and Damu is my father. So...I guess that would make you my aunt, then?" He huffed a small laugh, a friendly expression consuming his face as he seated himself. "I guess I should be flattered that I'm compared to mister alpha Dax...I'm fluffier, though." The swirled male smirked. "Gonna be weird if we all pack up and move to Pandemonium, though. I've been wondering what a cousin for an alpha would be like."

Dax...an alpha. Despite herself, Faile felt pride rising within her. Her son had survived, had done well for himself. "What of Bindi? Is she still with him?" She was genuinely interested in the fate of the she-wolf that Dax and Jaxom had brought home one cold night, a mere pup near death. The pup she had saved, once, risking her own life.

Kyrro's brows furrowed in thought, then he nodded. "Yes...she leads with him." He laid down, looking up at Faile. "I don't really know that that's where I want to be, though. I was born near here...I've lived all my life near the sea." He looked down at the glimmering waves. "I think I would miss it..."

Faile was silent for a long moment after Kyrro spoke. Finally, she drew herself up as though she had come to some inner decision. In truth, she had. "You don't have to leave. You could live with family...right here, right on this land." She dug at the ground with a forepaw. "I know I am a stranger to you...but believe me when I say this. I have seen the harm family conflict can do, and I have no wish to visit harm upon one who bears the blood of family in their veins." Only if forced would she ever fight her own kin.

Stunned by Faile's offer, Kyrro simply stared at her for a time. He wanted to stay by the sea, yes. But dare he accept this offer that seemed too good to be true? When he thought about it, he really had little to lose. If he became unhappy with Faile's leadership, he could simply rejoin his parents. "Why not?" he replied, with a reckless grin. "Dad might like me keeping tabs on his bro. And it's not like I'm stuck here if I don't like it. Count me in, Auntie."

Faile snorted a laugh and nipped at Kyrro's nose. "True. You're considered, but don't call me Auntie. Make me feel old, and I make your life hell...whelp." The last word was said in a teasing tone, and there was a friendly gleam in her eyes.
