Name: FoxAge: 15 or 16
Occupation: Apprentice aboard the Good Ship Misfortune
Physical Appearance: Fox is lithe and pretty, which she really dislikes. The picture at left is a pretty good representation, mostly. She keeps her long, blonde hair tied back, but refuses cut it until about two thirds of the way into the story, at which point, her hair is black. Fox is a transvestite, doing her very best not to look like a girl, including the whole boob-binding bit. Which brings us to the only part of her anatomy that isn't impossibly unsuited to her- with her lithe and willowy figure comes a lack of bust. So, if you didn't know Fox, you might mistake her for a really, really girly guy. Except not so much.
Background: Fox grew up in a society that... really had a stick up its a**. Her family was rich, and tended to ignore her except to show her off. No, Fox doesn't angst about that. She kinda blows them off. Fox was always a bit of a tomboy, and really, really loved pirates. Now, here goes the really odd, kinda coincidental bit; because of the INSANELY strict gender roles of her society, she only ever heard about guy pirates, so when she hears her dad talking about actual pirates, she dresses up as a guy so that she can be a pirate, but also as an almost unconscious (oh, who am I kidding, it's totally unconscious) rejection of said gender roles. This... fails miserably, but she still ends up as an apprentice on the Good Ship Misfortune.
Psycho-babble and Development over Story: See, the great thing about Fox is that she isn't really transgendered, but she doesn't know it, and is therefore reluctant to claim any sort of gender identity. This makes her edgy and a bit more hesitant than she should be for the greater part of the story. Also a b***h about pronouns, but that's one thing that doesn't change. Despite everything, Fox is really more honest than people expect of a ruthless pirate, but it's mostly a personal honesty, which is what causes the above screwed up-ness. She isn't particularly an expert at anything, including creativity or innovation, but she's humble enough to listen to others, which... in all honesty, is probably what Blythe sees in her that causes him to name her as his successor.
Tortures (just for fun): Being pretty, living in a shitty society, dealing with Caspar Williams, who wants to take her back to aforementioned shitty society, not being able to keep Blythe from dying when the ship is blown up by Caspar Williams, getting possessed by vampire ghosts and almost killing the one person who really does care about her, killing Caspar Williams, who she does in fact feel some attraction towards.
