I saw a forum that had this same idea once, and I loved it so I decided to make another here.

~THE RULES~
Obey, or DIE.

1. Keep it under PG-13. Please don't have any graphic love scenes with anyone (especially if they will offend the other person). If you find that you absolutely NEED to kiss or something else, ask the person you want to do it to first. Imagine if somebody went into a huge love scene with one of your characters from a story you're writing. That might be slightly awkward, for you AND you're character.

2. I understand that adding a rather...colorful language can give the reader a better idea of the character, but please, if every other word is bleep!!!!, then I kinda have a problem. Personally, I don't cuss, and would prefer that my characters don't either. If you need to, just narrate what they are doing. (i.e. she swore angrily). Besides there are many other great words to substitue for cuss words out there. Get creative. =D

3. If you would like to join, post your characters here first, or pm them to me and I will add them to the list. A format you could use is:
Profile name:
Character name:
Age:
Short bio (i.e. how you got here, where you're from, etc.):
Powers (please limit it to 1 or 2, we don't want a bunch of Supermen running around sweatdrop ):
Appearance (description or picture):

4. Your character can't be extremely experienced in his/her power. The idea is that they just recently gained their power so they don't know a whole lot about it yet.

5. Please, no chat speak or **'s. Honestly, I don't care if you talk to each other like that (who doesn't?), but please don't make narrations like:
("Like, lol wtf?" She rofl, lmao.)

The Escaped: Plot

"Why do you tell such strange stories, Momma?"

"Strange? Oh, I wouldn't call them that. I suppose if we never tell strange things, we'll never be ready when something strange really does happen..."

Unexplained phenomena occur all over the world. Teenagers, usually between the age of 12 and 18, are gaining strange abilities that they cannot explain. In China, a girl who can walk through walls at the circus have caught the attention of the police. In Africa, a man is deified who can bring rain to a tribal people in the Sahara. European outbreaks of this strange, mutant ability multiply and start panic in the world. Nobody knows why. But they fear it. Scientists spirit away "mutant" children into the labs to divine where their power came from, to find what made these things happen. Kill a few mutants; save thousands through their knowledge. Some mutants have had enough--they steal, break the law, fight the police, and declare their freedom.

But the American government didn't expect one thing: their numbers are growing. The mutants have become a national threat, so many hide from the "normals" for fear that they will be discovered and taken away. Groups has formed, having fled their old lives and haunts of escaping capture, and plan to change things and get their lives back.

The Village

A small "village" of mutants have gathered in the Adironack Mountain of New York, dubbing themselves the leaders of the mutant human revolution. It is a haven for the oppressed, a stronghold to the escaping, and a place that our heroes call home. Protecting it is a mutant with the ability to shroud things in illusions from human eyes.

But that doesn't mean they can't find us.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Be creative. The storyline is what you decide. Will we make peace with the humans? Or will we start an all-out war on humankind--our brothers, sisters, mothers?
Without further ado, I officially declare this RP OPEN!!! =D biggrin
Profile name: Porcelain Ballerina
Character name: Riley Siren
Short bio: Riley was raised by her dad, the mom's mysteriously out of the picture. She got her powers at fourteen and she is fifteen now (I'm sick of writing with older characters =P). The two sisters are close, but Cloey still lives with their dad.
Powers (please limit it to 1 or 2, we don't want a bunch of supermen running around icon_sweatdrop.gif ): Power to take other people's power. (Is that allowed? Just tell me if it isn't.)
Leah ran quickly through the underbrush, taking care to step on soft, moist soil instead of hard, crinkly leaves. She could distantly hear harsh voices somewhere behind her, but refused to look back to where they were. All she could focus on was running and breathing. Run. Breathe. Run. Breathe. Her chest felt on fire, and she held more tightly the lumpy backpack in her hands.
Those harsh voices cried out again, closer this time and she panicked. There was no way she could outrun them, she had been running on an empty stomach for so long. She would regret this next decision, she knew, but she had to take it. With a great leap and a scratching grip on the branch of a nearby tree, she slowly hauled herself up, feeling pain blossom in her arms as they took the stress. She reached the next hand forward and this time anchored her foot in a nook in between two branches. She knew that she was athletic, but this merciless tree gave very little room to make her job easy. Adjusting her grip, she painfully lifted her body onto the next branch, tearing a small hole in her gloves.
An alarm went off in her head, but she swallowed it down and continued upwards. The voices were closer. She rose higher and looked down as she straddled the branch. Her head spun at the distance, but she refused to let it affect her. Instead, she readjusted her bag so that it was on her shoulders so it evened out the weight. Then she waited for her hunters to pass.
"Hurry, you fool! She's going to get away!" A man's voice growled. "That's money from our pockets, idiot. Because you didn't use the Searcher." Leah's eyes narrowed. Searchers were mechanical devices that could pick up the radiation of mutant DNA. They were used more and more commonly to ferret out hiding mutants, and alert the Section 8 Police, who were the department of mutant affairs. They were hated and feared by people like her.
But despite all the huffing and puffing, Leah knew she'd be safe. The man talking looked too fat to do anything but grumble and the one he was talking to looked plain stupid. It was all Leah could do to not shake the branch and let leaves and pinecones to rain down on them.
"Jered, do you smell...smoke?"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2008 9:08 am
Uh oh. Leah looked down at her branch. Small flames began to lick the bark of the tree and several leaves caught flame. "NO!" She whispered angrily, patting at the flames to stop, but found her attempts useless. The flame leaped from one branch to the next rapidly, too fast for normal fire. She could start fires - most often when she didn't mean to - but could never stop them. She growled and jumped carefully down from the tree. Being up there would only aggrivate the fire. And she had to leave the scene before the smoke was found.
She was about to take off when she saw the panicking men penned at the base of the tree. Flaming branches fell all around them with yawning mouths and nasty eyes, ready to swallow them whole. She hated herself so dearly for this, but ran to take them out. She barrelled through an overhanging branch of flame, not feeling the blazing heat, and used what was left of her adrenaline to pull them out of there. They didn't even stop to thank her before they shot away. Just a solid confused stare, and then a falling branch fell down on her. The last thing she saw was the back of the men's heels as they dashed to safety.
((Sorry that was so long!!! xp ))
Porcelain ballerina
PostPosted: Tue Feb 26, 2008 3:44 pm
Riley skipped through the thick forest of trees. Her small messenger bag bobbed lightly on her hip, and her arms swung in beat with the song she was humming in her head. When she had first run from home, two weeks earlier, she had been really nervous, but surviving on her own was beginning to be more fun than she had thought.
Over her head, a group of birds suddenly took flight, squawking madly and flying back where she had just passed. Riley paused, a concerned frown decorating her lips. Watching the bird's hysteria, an eerie chill fell over her body.
What's that about she wondered to herself
The sounds of men shouting confirmed her fears, and she took of running in the direction.
Arriving at the noise, she saw men in thick coats taking off. They were running at full speed, and behind her, they left a girl about Riley's age. The brunet suddenly took a quick intake of breath. The girl laid on the earth silently, and she didn't appear to be moving. Riley ran to her side.
"Hey, are you all right?" Riley nudged the girl softly, wondering if she should check her pulse. "Hello? Wake up! Are you okay?"
Riley didn't notice the smoldering flickers of flame around her. They began to die out slowly.
"Nngghhh..." Leah groaned. Who was talking? Her head pounded and she felt the crushing weight of the large branch lessen, as if somebody was lifting it away. Carefully, slowly, she opened her eyes...
And nearly singed the hair off the girl leaning over her as she jumped in surprise. "Sorry!" She cried, but the words seemed reluctant to leave her lips; instead she heard only another hoarse croak. Leah's head swam before her eyes as she mustered the strength to stand. Everything hurt, but she had gained some strength - if she had gained anything - since the time she had been chased out of her home. She blinked the wearyness out of her eyes, and took a proper look at the girl in front of her, a little shaken but otherwise okay.
She scratched her head sheepishly. "Um, thanks." She said, holding an awkward hand out to shake. The untorn-gloved one, of course. "My name's Leah." She took a look at the small messenger bag at the girl's side and glanced at her through new eyes. "You're a runaway, aren't you?"
Lithina poped out of nowhere and asked "What's the time and date of this realm?" She was asking the other two girls in a quite daze, from time travel. She said it with a type of a acsent.
"The, uh--wait, the what?" Both girls turned their heads to the strange visitor with questioning glances. Did she really just pop out of nowhere? Leah groaned. And I thought my day was odd enough...
Lithina reapeated "What is the date and time in this realm?" Do they just not understand her?
PostPosted: Wed Mar 05, 2008 3:03 pm
Leah still didn't understand; her mind was too wrapped up in what she had just escaped from; death. "It's May fourteenth, I think." She looked at her watch. "12ish and -- Who are you? And where did you come from?"
"Thank you for the notefication of the information. I'm sorry for my rudeness I am Lithina Alerando the quest maker at your service. I came from Sloco high school in Slavia. I am a junior, my fathers great ancester is the founder of the school. My mother was a maiden but passed away giving birth to my younger brother. Now that I've intoduced myself, please introduce oneself to me." She had said fluently in her acscent.
Leah grinned. Obviously not human, she reasoned. Good. I could use some company. And a lot less opposition, but that seems impossible. "My name is Leah. I grew up a couple states away in Texas. Both my parents are still alive, I think. They should be, I mean, it's not like they have anything to run from or anything." She scowled as she said that. "I'm a mutant, which I'm guessing you are also--why else would you be here?. I used to hate my gift, despise it, wish I was normal, but not anymore. There was an...incident a while ago at my home. Haven't been back since. But that's okay. It's nicer here in New York, more places to hide, less people to snitch. Well, sometimes." She kicked back against a tree and watched the dying embers of the fire. Leah was lucky it had died out. The girl had been so sure that it would continue and burn the whole forest down and ruin another safe place to hide. It would figure, with her share of luck. She wondered if the dying flame had anything to do with that Lithina girl.
"My mom's a doctor, and my dad's a lawyer. They're not very accepting of...freaks like us. That day when she found out..." Leah pursed her lips. "Anyway, I've been on the run since I ran away, about a month ago, I think and nobody has caught me yet." But she knew she was right. They haven't caught me yet. It would only be a matter of time before that might happen, but she had a plan. She wouldn't accept that mutants weren't human as most people did. She would do something to change how things were. Something. I don't have a choice.
