To me, there's a difference between being smart, and intelligence.
"Being" is acting, another word for it, so it means that you're only "acting smart". You can definately get a 4.0 in school and not know a single thing about life itself or how to do things. Or you can definately fail all your classes, have people ALL THE TIME see you as a looney, random, LAZY person, but be the most intelligent person with many philosophies that may (or may not) work, to the eyes of the other person.
Intelligence, as it should now that you've read thus far, stands alone in its meaning.
Can you guess which one I am?
I'll tell you one thing: I've NEVER had a perfect 4.0.
