Note 1&log_"Sanctum's Entrance"...chpt_log:1&#xpd;ate_log:2.12.2008

"Hello and Welcome to The Darkness Chronicles.

I am Folchinator, the GM, and I've very excited that you're all here today. This is the first of several notes I will be leaving throughout the game, most of which I'm sure you'll all find quite helpful throughout our progression. For the archives, see, "Game Notes Archive" for what I've previously written.

First thing's first: How are you? Are you well? Good. Glad to hear it! Haha, oh stop it, __InvaderRobby__! You kill me!

Anyways, let's move on:

Let me explain what you're all doing, first and foremost. I'm sure the past players I've involved myself with are itching for the action to start! Well, you're going to have to sit on it and wait, ******** ingrates okay?

As for the rest of you, well, don't worry about confusion. You're doing just fine.

The Sanctum's Entrance is what I will refer to as a "Fourth Wall Path" or a "4Path". This will act as your "real" world. Just go with it - think of it as a Train Station, allowing you to branch out and return to it through several mediums. Do not loose its importance from your mind, however; there are many parts of the main 4Path that will squeeze out into the realms of fantasy we're so close to exploring (and vice versa!).

Let's first talk about actions. You've all done pretty well in your first posts. Good Job! Keep up this work. The Darkness Chronicles relies on, for the most part, a REACTIVE ACTION PLAN, or REAP, to move along. What this means to you is that everything you try to do (note the word try) will be judged, evaluated and re-submitted by me. A cause-effect relationship. This excludes, of course, actions like talking to one another.

Let's skip ahead a bit and move to The Reading Room and some of its qualities that our players have uncovered.

Coins
Every set of 20 collected can buy you a new Outburst, based on the most dominant symbol you possess.

Books
Books you find and open will have their titles displayed either in Green or Red. Green titles belong to books that may be useful or key to someone's development. Red books, on the other hand, really don't do anything for you.

Element Affinity
The more time you spend in good favor of a certain element or in bad favor of another, the more your Elemental Profile will change. This profile determines resistance, damage with, fear of, luck with, etc. of all elements featured in the game.

Key Items
No longer for the pain junkie, The Darkness Chronicles is even more chock-full of puzzles and goodies. Picking up Key Items and using them where they belong is a big factor in all this.

Okay, folks, I think I've said enough for now.

Have fun!

>>OH!!! One more thing: Directed Posts are important. If you see ((Your name)) at the top of a post, it's addressed to you.<<

"Skills. We all need them, right? Yes, we needz mad skillz.

You will learn skills as time progresses, and it seems some of you already have, so let me drop in a little crash course in what they are and how they work in The Darkness Chronicles.

Passive Skills
You don't have to do anything for these skills to be active. Usually they're always beneficial, and are automatically and constantly active. Take the skill Appraisal, for instance. Tobias will always be able to know, thanks to the book he just read, the power and attributes of any sword he comes about.

Active Skills
There are actions that you will have to consciously put in place to get by. Let's take the skill Magnum Shot, for instance. If someone wanted to perform Magnum shot, at the very least, we'd know they would have to call out the skill by placing <> at the bottom of their post. The post can or can not describe the attack or skill, and there are benefits to both approaches.

Alright, that's all for now!

PS: Kunai, if you're stuck getting that handle, there are many ways to put out the flames that surround it or to pluck out the object."

"Sidequests

As you can see, player THRMG was just selected for a sidequest. Sometimes, more than one person will be chosen. Sometimes you will have a choice of even initiating one. The truth is that the system varies based on the story, what items you have, and how I view your character.

Tip: If you're original and interesting, I'll be more inclined to make up a sidequest that has a lot to do with your characteristics or interests.

As you'll see, certain sidequests will either involve fighting, treasure hunting or information gathering and puzzle-solving. The most solid truth you'll discover is that every sidequest, when completed successfully, will lead to some sort of gain. So look for sidequests. They're really helpful.

"Architecture

Like to create? MSPaint? Color? Architecture is for you. With an idea in mind, sketch what you'd like to build. I'll let you know what supplies you'll need and how much DEX or what level you'll need to be to make the desired item. I'll also explain the capabilities and characteristics (specific) of your item based on how practical, smart, and detailed (you don't have to be a good artist) your creation is. Good luck creating!

"Lolzorz.

Modes
Fighting "Modes" affect the pacing, style, and speed of battles. You can switch modes at any time, and it may be necessary to jump from mode to mode to either survive or win your fight. At the present, MG has two modes available to him: Movement and Normal.

In the Movement mode, post actions can be (and should be) very descriptive, and each will be followed by a response post by myself. While in movement mode, certain actions you describe will be labeled and catalogued with specific terminology and action prompting, such as rolling, guessing, or timed posting.

Good luck!
