I restrained myself from derailing the Shade's Children thread, but only by deciding to make one for Abhorsen.

I adore these books. I can't express how much I love the characters and the plots.

My favourite was Lirael. Although Lirael is my favourite character, I loved that book for another reason: the library! Oh, I love any stories about libraries, and the library of the Clayr is just amazing. It's really one of the places for crazy imaginations, eh? It's not just books but a respository for everything important.

I just re-read the series a year ago, and was pleasantly surprised that they were even better the second time.

It's been a couple of years since I read this, but yeah, this series was pretty good. The only thing I hated about it was that the language was a little annoying (seriously, some of that medieval stuff gets on my nerves...) and some of the descriptions were a little long and such... But other than that, it was a nice read. Not a favorite, but I don't hate it either.

I think I have one of the books in my cupboard, but I think I got it from a book exchange, so it's not the first one. I have wanted to get the first one for a while though....

Oh man... that series used to be my favorite ever, but I haven't read it for a while. So amazing... Great characters and plots and a really original world and magic system... yeah... *nostalgia*

I'm hesitant to read them again in case they don't live up to my cherished memories or something though.

I really enjoyed those books, even though they took me ages to read (I was a slow reader then).

I think my favourite character was probably Sam, but I did like Lirael, Sabriel and Touchstone as well, because they all were great. However Mogget was one of the best creations I've seen, he was always the smooth talking snake in the group. Classic.

I liked those books a lot, and Lireal is my favorite character (and book) as well. I loved the system of magic in those books, it was completely original and really interesting. It's been a while since I read that series, though, I should probably re-read it sometime.

*SPOILER*
Do not read below if you don't want to be spoiled! (It's in white text)

*I cried when the Disreputable Dog/Kibeth died. Although technically she only left, and I suppose it does make sense that the Walker can't stick around too much. It was still sad though, she was such a great character.*

I really want to read them, because I keep hearing how good they are. I think I'll buy them next time I'm at the bookstore.

My favorite one is Lirael as well. I first read these books about four years ago, and I still love them. I read Across the Wall, but didn't like it as much as the full-length books.

Yeah, I have to agree. "Nicholas Sayre and the Creature in the Case" isn't all that great. I love some of the other stories in that collection though. (Down to the Scum Quarter, My Really New Epic Fantasy Series, heart )

I read Sabriel, and loved it. I keep meaning to get the others, but I'm sidetracked by Naruto Shipuuden (shame, shame), and Pride and Prejudice.

If you go to Garth Nix's website, it says that Sabriel is going to be made into a film. Quote from website: "Several steps closer to a SABRIEL film . . .One of the frequent questions that I usually don't adequately answer is about what is happening with a possible SABRIEL film. Well, today I can say a bit more than usual as PUBLISHING NEWS has reported on the "package" that we have put together and will be taking to studios in Hollywood in a few weeks."

I know what you mean! Reading that book I kept wishing that it was a real place I so that I could go visit... or possibly move there...
