I've been wanting to get into meditation, but haven't been able to find out much on different techniques. So, if you guys can maybe point me to a website (or several websites, or books even!), or talk about different techniques you use, that would be supremely helpful. Thanks!

well i just got some pointers from someone & they actually work for me (as long as i can concentrate lol) & i was at the point of almost giving up learning.
what she told me is to just lie on ur bed & put on a cd of drumming music (i don't have any so i used an ever after soundtrack) & just concentrate on the beat of the music while picturing urself in your special spiritual place.
the first time i tried, i got a bunch of random visuals. but if u have a goal in mind, u'll get stuff for that.

That sounds like a good suggestion, I may have to try that. But, one question: What do you mean by drumming music?

a song made up of JUST drums. either celtic drums or native american. but try not to get singing in w/ it...that's why i'm having a hard time to get a cd for meditation.

Oh, okay. That sounds like it would be kind of hard to find. But wouldn't something that didn't include singing but was just the music work just as well? Especially if the music is "in tune" with your place?

if u can tune out the words then it's fine...but if ur learning, the words can ge distracting. that's why i personally can't use loreena mckennitt songs.

Yeah, songs with words would distract me too much...But I know I have some Celtic music that doesn't have words somewhere...Anyways, thanks for your suggestions, wicked_faery! I'm going to start trying that. ^.^

well i know you can definitely down load meditation music off the net but enya works really good, "stone in focus" by aphex twin is really good, and "night loop" by the birthday massacre works.

Enya would probably distract me from the meditation too much. I'd definitely have to use something that doesn't have any lyrics.

Darth Shiny Enya would probably distract me from the meditation too much. I'd definitely have to use something that doesn't have any lyrics.
in that case youd definitely want to look into "stone in focus" it has no lyrics and night loop as well is lyricless.
