On a bookshelf in arm's reach of the fireside chairs there are several large albums in which the teds of the guild share photographs of their travels or other images of interest or fond memory for themselves and their people.

Posting your pictures here in the Albums:

Please do not post huge images that stretch the page, or have enormous file sizes. Optimize your pictures or post thumbnails please, for some of us have slow internet connections.
If you have created slideshows you may post links to them.
If you have created home movies of an event or a trip to share and put them on YouTube, you may also post links for those here.

I shall begin by posting this lovely view of the surprise snow that greeted us this morning. There is two inches of snow, and most welcome it is in this drought! smile

I'm so glad that you are getting moisture to relieve your drought, Sir Oscar. Snow is wonderful because it will soak into the soil rather than just running off down hill. It must have been a quiet, calm snowfall to coat all the twigs like that.
Here is a picture that Miradora took last December from the loft where her computer is. The "holes" in the snow were made by elk bedded down for the night on the grass. I like to think of animals browsing about the grounds of the League estate. 4laugh

Hello, fellow Teds! My person and I are back from Mexico. She really gave her little digital camera a workout, taking 215 pictures! She's trying to edit through them and post some of the better ones on her profile. When she's finished, I'll post the link here.

Here's a little preview. This picture was taken at Chapala, the largest city on Lake Chapala. My person liked this picture so much she made it her new desktop on her home computer. Enjoy!

Oh, Slick. What a delightful surprise to find a preview of your fotos Mexicanos in the gallery! Do you know if the little boats are primarily for pleasure "cruising", transportation around the lake, or fishing? They add such a vivid note of color to the tranquil lake.

Thank you for asking, Lady Gladys, and forgive my belated reply! The towns around the lake were once primarily fishing towns. Although, small industries and private businesses have become the "money-makers" in the larger towns, the smaller ones are still dependent on fishing.

The unfortunate thing is that Lake Chapala is quite polluted (not as badly as a decade ago but much more cleaning-up needs to be done). The gringos avoid the local fish mongers because of this. The locals, especially the poorer ones, still buy and eat the fish. There have been health problems (varying degrees of severity... both immediate and long term) as a result.

However, with the influx of gringos (this region has become the second largest North American area in Mexico), the environmental problems of Lake Chapala are slowly improving. There is a saying among the locals - "Anything in Mexico can be fixed with money." With the gringos' money, the lives of both the lake and the people it supports is getting better day by day.

My person's mother did mention that there were once small sailboats on the lake many years ago. With the drought in the area improving and the lake level slowly rising, maybe the sailboats will also return.

I'm glad to hear that the lake is recovering. It is delightful to sit here paging through the photo album sharing memories, experiences, and dreams of a hopeful future.

Welcome spring! This is a photo Miradora took of California poppies beginning to bloom in her sister's garden in Salinas. Everything grows there. It was her sister's birthday, and for a present her mother and Miradora helped weed the garden.

What a day, teds! The roads up into the national parks have finally been cleared of snow and are open for the season. Miradora and her parents went up to see what the animals were doing. There were lots of moose, elk and buffalo. However, the highlight was a mother bear and her 3 yearling cubs. They were at there usual hangout on the Snake River. What a mom! She's kept them all healthy for over a year. It is hard to tell that they are bears from this photo, but they are--grizzlies (if that is the correct spelling of the plural.)

Excuse me while I try to get a better size out of photobucket...

Can you see the bears in this one? They are the black blobs down by the river. I tried to edit the previous post, but I was faced with a "Parameter error" and told that I had an invalid guild ID!

Yes, they are visible now. My, how strange to still see so much snow--it's very warm and green here!

That is a strange thing. Perhaps Gaia is a bit touchy about altered images right now, with all the trouble they've had from bad image-posting?

Wonderful pictures, Lady Gladys!

These are of a personal nature. These are my person's newly graduated sons...

Kevin (left) graduated Saturday from Virginia Tech with a BS Aerospace Engineering degree. The gold pin under his right label is for being a Cooperative Education Program student. He did 3 internships before graduating. He'll be heading to Florida soon as he's been hired by United Space Alliance, a private sector consultant group for NASA at Cape Canaveral.

Sean (right) graduated Friday from Clemson with a BS Pre-Veterinary Medicine degree. The white sash indicates he is a honors student (cumlaude with a 3.46 overall GPA). He's going to the University of Georgia this Fall to start his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine studies.

My person is one proud momma!
