I have talked this over with Metal and I wanted to do a weekly or bi/weekly avitar contest to help the avis that we want to put in the arena that probably dont stand much of a chance against other avatars. But i can accomplish this with ease but I need to have a prize to give at the end of it. What I was thinking is that I will have the first week of the months prize be a Monthly envelope for that month and then the following weeks smaller items from thecash shop since it would put a huge hole in the guilds mule and mine I hardly am able to buy my own envelope so i have one (never mind that statement its just a example basially) I CAN provide one weeks prize that would either be a mood bubble or rose or another 3-4-5k item from the shop and in this case if i can get an envelope for the first week and then the third week of the month have another cont making it bi/weekly.
Now i know with our current event ending everyone is probably broke i am not ordering you to donate. But if one or more could send in 1 letter a month.....meaning if more than one person offers to buy a letter for the contest we'll take turns each month and i would post that as well so you dont loose track
for exampl
March: person 1
April: person 2
May: person 3
then it starts over again if they still want to donate that letter and instead of buying it off the MP i would hope they would buy it from the CS since it is probably cheaper that way

I like the idea of the contest, but I think maybe you're stretching a bit far on the prizes. I think it's more about the fun of competing than having big generous things to win. I even think it would be fine if the prise was simply the entry money's collected. Then it would pay for itself. Granted, that doesn't leave anything for second or third place... but I'm not expecting there to be as many people as the real thing either...
I also think weekly is too often. You'd be doing a lot of work for it And especially if you want to do bigger prizes and have people donate prizes... monthly would be easier to do, IMO.

Hmmm monthly does seem easier really i wanted to do this contest though were the entrance fee went to the guild instead of out of it again so that we have more funds for the guild. Hence why i dont want to give the entrance fee as the prize...if i did that i would cut the profit given in half and give one half to the guild and another split it up for second and third place and have first place prize be a item.....i think your suggestion is really good misty thank you for your input ^_^

I don't have much to say, because my comprehension level is nil right now (must be tired or something). But, I like your idea, and misty's about it being monthly-- that way it would be easier to get a letter as you would have to do it less often. Maybe several members could donate gold to get a monthly letter for the prize, instead of one person having to spring for it? I don't know how that would work out or if more than one person would want to donate, but it's just a suggestion. The people who want to donate could post it on a thread for that purpose, then they could split the cost of the letter between them and donate it to the guild mule. Just a thought smile

Hey River! Awesome idea! We all had so much fun with the tektek's in the cupiding and elving events, a chance to do it "regularly" is great!
I, too, think monthly is more doable, due to schedules, time and gold. (Unless it were a "fantasy" contest, like during the event)*points further down in post*
Perhaps there could be a prize amount that is somewhat permanent--say...5k or something (whatever amount is decided), and donations could be made to Metal's Mule with a tektek contest header? That way, anybody who wanted to, could donate what they feel they can, and it would add up to that amount every month. Extra would just stay there in the mule for the next contest, or for if they amount came up short, and lacking amounts could perhaps be made up for by the guild fund--hopefully it wouldn't amount to much--this is a pretty generous group! 4laugh
Maybe I'm just a bit befuddled, but are you saying we dress up our avi "as if" we were going to enter it in the arena, for real? So...this wouldn't be a tektek like we were doing during the event--where we just went to tektek and went hog wild, totally virtual (no real avi involved)?
I may be wrong here, but with me anyway, partly why the ones in the event thread contests were so fun was due to the themes selected (your black/white was inspiring!), and the fact that I didn't have to actually BUY anything to do it. When it comes to laying out dough for doing a real avi outfit, I get stingy, lol! I think alot of us, if we were going to enter in the gaia arena, we just do it cuz we want to, out of curiosity, but don't really expect to win anything. If I had my druthers, I would like to fix up the avi I REALLY want, lol--but would probably never get...cuz...well...the liklihood of my actually possessing the bani clips is slim.... rolleyes

okay so ill be changing it too tektek avies and setting themes and price ranges each time....the prize well I really dont want people to buy it off the MP if i had gaia cash then i would buy a letter through the shop thats what im saying but donating would go to me so i could keep track of it add it up in a word document and who did what and post it in the thread AND then send it to the mule trust me i am no scammer so dont think i am wanting that to jip out on the guild the reason i came up with this is for the guilds finacial benefit
