This is a poem intitled: A Tribute To My Lazy Genius heart
I lie in the grass and watch time fly by
Spend most of my time staring up at the sky
Stereotyped? - Yes – True? – No, who knew?
Is 200 I.Q. good enough for you?
I wish to be free and drift like a cloud
But no foolish thoughts are said aloud
I may be lazy but I would die for my friends
That is my ninja way that will never end
Finally earning the respect I wished to gain
After all of the failure, suffering, and pain
Could you walk a mile in my zori?
My life isn’t a boring story
Troublesome girls I always fight
To that I try with little might
Blondes, brunettes, and pink hair too?
Does that now sound like a drag to you?!

OKAI! This is NOT a poem, nor is it anything I wrote. It's a song called Nephilim by Abingdon Boys School, but I figured it'd best go here since it's poem-like... but all Taka's songs are like that sweatdrop Ah anyway, here are the translated lyrics in which I think, in Neji's point of view, fit perfectly when viewing his and Shika's relationship. Which, of course, means that in this song, Neji's a fallen angel. Might clear things up a bit. Nephilim My released wings scatter my wishes
Towards this destroyed world, to a sky full of prayers
The cracked moon's spiral is reflected in these eyes
My tracing finger struggles to find the place
Embracing this journey, my skin twists with fever
Like a deep desire, my chest tightens again
My released wings scatter my wishes
Towards this destroyed world, to a sky full of prayers
In the night's abyss, a blooming flower presses against my ears
My sighs pile up in the noises of the city
Even now that day is blurry and lost in my memory

Oh, here's one from a fic I read a long time ago called "NejiShika :Seuss Style". Hope you enjoy.
On the soft green grass
Lay a prodigy and a lazy a**
Relaxing and holding hands
Listening to their favorite bands
Like Panic! At The ANBU
And Fall Out Ninja, too
Placing kisses on the other
Not a worry, not a bother
Watching the clouds above
In the company of his love
It is quiet and peaceful
Perfect for them, until
They heard a rustling in
A bush, it was Ten-Ten
Along with the other girls
All rabid like squirrels
Fan-girls are vicious, you know
Neji ran with Shika in tow
Running past the ramen cooks
Past Kakashi's porn books
Even past the Konoha gates
Neji cursed the fates
As his Shikamaru fell
Now they are in fan-girl hell.

Ahem. Onto a brief explanation that isn't very helpful. It's my thought that you've got to feel the words. >< If..that makes any sense. sweatdrop

Think of Neji when he was about 3-4- before that seal was placed on his forehead- back when he was free. 'Destroyed world' could refer to a war-torn world, AKA the war with Konoha and Lightening Country. The seal was given to him sometime then and it was his wish to be free again as well as have his father back.

Here, the keywords were 'moon', 'spiral' and 'eyes' that made me connect the song to Neji. Neji meaning Helix, his eyes reflecting the moon. The other lines, I think, refer to a longing that Neji must've felt as he grew older. crying

I'll admit my weird look as I view the first line. o_0 I have a few theories, but don't feel confident enough to guess. The other lines probably refer to an everyday life, and 'That day' and the phrase 'the pain was erased by a scar' we could take both emotionally and physically. I sense a long explanation.
A memory that's not clear- one that happened a long time ago- his father's death perhaps? He doesn't carry the pain as much after the chuunin exams, and it's healed for the most part- 'replaced by a scar'. Physically and literally, in a fangirl mind, XD, could be, as a Jounin, remembering that day he nearly died, though the pain of it is gone.

'Temporary Wings' -- Neji's wings that he has now- AKA temporary freedom- that aren't strong enough to fly. He's a 'caged bird' remember and flight feathers are often clipped. Even still, he has them for a short time.
'Against my punishment, I direct my feelings towards you' A beautiful line. I find it amusing how he word 'Tsumi'--'sin' is used in this phrase. Almost like it should be 'Against my punishment for this sin, I direct my feelings toward you' Viewing NejiShika, I'm sure the Hyuuga would not take the relationship lightly at all, but Neji's defiant enough to do it anyway even if he has cooled from that angst-ridden 14 year old.
'Blood-soaked wings'-- obviously means damaged wings. Rise and become the wind could refer to the wings leaving entirely- feathers and all that- joining the wind. For each feather, a wish. 'A thousand wishes smash and soar towards the sky'
