My oh my, where had her perfect playmate gone? She missed him so. So much. So very, very much. It had been forever and a day since she had last seen him and his shininess. Not to mention his tallness. And she wondered if he was still mad at her for having taken so long to play. Ah, but she would make that up to him - she would definitely make that up to him. Besides, she had a good excuse last time... she was still picking bark and leaves out of her paws, thank you very much.
Bah, but she would apologize a-gazillion times if she had to. As Fen was her Fen-Friend-BFF, and the last thing she wanted was for him to be upset.

But how was she supposed to apologize a-gazillion times if she couldn't find him? Honestly... that was the biggest problem.

She laid within the bushes, well out of sight. And Tale felt like a ninja, and as though she should hop out at anyone who passed by her to scream, "Hand over your valuables and other stuff, Person! As I am Lady Marmalade ~ and I get what I want, darnit."

What did that even mean, actually?

Then, the thought that she might actually scare someone hit her, and she certainly didn't want that. She just wanted to have fun, was all. She pawed at the dirt carelessly, mind flipping back to Fen. She wondered... where had he gone~?

Fenris was fairly annoyed. He hadn't been out to attack anyone or annoy anyone. More than anything, it seemed others were annoying him of all people. It probably didn't help that he was tempermental, but that was besides the point. He wanted to go ruin someone's day. Maybe go push some young kits off a cliff, or roll them into thorny bushes. He was so annoyed at everyone. Crimson colored pupils spotted the red kitsu with her purple orb. Oh, how fun this will be~ He would certainly hurt her now. He wanted to claw her across the face. That annoying little brat. She deserved it. He wanted to push her off a tree. Have her break some bones and whatnot. His claws dragged across the dirt path as he made his way towards her. Claws across her face, yesss.

At the crushing of a twig, her ears flattened. Oh gawds - a monster, it was a monster. Oh, what if it was a monster? Maybe it would be nice...? Maybe she could befriend it! Yeah - that was unlikely. Extremely unlikely. Cute as she could be, monsters didn't care. It just made their food all the more appealing. She didn't wanna be Monster-Kitsus-And-Bits, thank you. Tale crouched, her icy orbs flicking towards the direction of the noise. Well - that was certainly a big, glowy paw. Ah - wait, hold the phone... big, and glowy paw? Fen! Oh, it was Fen! Hot diggety, Fen-Friend-BFF was in the hooouuuse~! How exciting! How lucky. How exciting and lucky! Being a Luck certainly did come in handy sometimes. A small gasp, had he gotten shorter - or had she become taller?
"Fen-Friend~" She spoke excitedly, "You're alive! And big ~ and shiny. Did you know that you are really, really shiny?"

Her tails intertwined with one-another, eyes sparkling with interest. Gaia, she had missed him so much! What a pleasant, pleasant surprise. It was such a pleasant surprise. Pleasant enough for a tea party with some cakes and stuffed animals and frilly dresses.

"I've totally missed you, Fenny-Fen-Fens. Where have you been? Have you been safe? Nobodies been mean to you, right? Because if they have, I'll totally go kung-fu on their highnies. And they'll regret ever having done anything to make you unhappy. Totally regret it. Has anyone been mean to you? Give me names, Fen - it's all I need."

Of course he knew he was shiney. What kind of question was that to ask? And what the hell? He was not her friend, Fenny, Fen-Fens, BFF or whatever other names she came up with for them. He was Fenris, ok? His name didn't need anymore add ons or deductions to his name. Fenris was a badass name, ok? It was made of win and awesome. For goodness sake he was named after one of the baddest giant wolves of Norse Mythology. What could get better than that? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
She spoke as if he couldn't defend himself. Whut? He had fingers, which no other species had except Anthros. But not only that, but he was massive. HUGE. He could make her fall off a cliff with just a gentle push of a finger. "No, of COURSE not. I can defend myself just fine. I can kick some bootie if I wanted to. I don't need your help, little brat. Why don't you go play with some dolls or play ball with kids your age?"

"But I looooove you, Fen-Friend. You're my best friend in the entire world. My perfect playmate. My Double-P ~ I would do anything in my power to protect you. I would even make up my own kung-fu moves, just to make sure you never get hurt. They'd totally kick anyone and everyone's butt. I'm thinking ~ 'The Puma', or how about 'Million-Armed Kit~?" She watched him with sparkling, icy eyes. "Or maybe - 'Wrath of the Mon Cheri~' all sound extremely classy, don't you think?" Her ears flattened somewhat now, as she recalled something she had forgotten due to all the excitement of seeing her glowy compadre.
"Fenny~! I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, a-gazillion times sorry - with extra apology on top." Her tails flicked, "And then even more apology dribbled on that apology, with an apologetic cherry..." She bit at her lip. It was a good apology, she thought. Totally an 'Ice-Cream Sundae Apology' - though now she craved something sweet.

She supposed Fen was sweet enough, though. He certainly outdid any other sweet thing. "If I played dolls or ball with anyone, it would be you ~ 'cause you're my perfect playmate for all eternity and eternities beyond that eternity with even more eternity~!"

This brat was seriously getting on his nerves. She was so clingy! He hated clingy beings...well, he hated everyone, mostly. But that's not the point. The point was he didn't like her. Why did she even like him so much? He wanted to crush her with his powerful jaws. That would seem like something fun to do, right? She'd probably buy into it, too. It probably didn't help her to think he couldn't defend himself of all Kitsus. Gosh, he was a big, strong Trick! Seriously, his claws were practically the size of her face! Maybe a bit exagerated, but still.
"Well, ok..." He said aloud as the plan came to mind, "If you're the perfect playmate, too...Want to do me a favor? See, I was eating some spinach and some of it got stuck between my teeth. I can't see where it is, so I can't pick it out with my claws. Can you go inside my mouth a little bit to see where it is? It'd a really "perfect playmate" kind of thing to do, right? After all, you wouldn't want me to feel uncomfortable, right?" Ah, what a perfect plan. He was just waiting for her to buy it. He was so smart.

She frowned, her bright eyes peering at him curiously. "Fen-friend, I do love you - and I would do anything for you. But your teeth are so sharp and dangerous~! What if I happen to cut myself on them or something? Then what do I do? What if I bleed in your mouth? Wouldn't that be icky...? But then, you say that you have spinach stuck between your teeth. I have an idea!"
Tale ran towards the bushes again, her tails flicking thoughtfully. She scouted momentarily, 'Ah'ed' and 'Ooooh'ed' at several candidates before finally she found an appropriate twig. She lifted the long thing in her mouth. Approaching the Trick again, she dropped the thing at his feet. "How about this, Fen? I can totally just pick the spinach I see out of your teeth with a stick; and that way, when your mouth gets tired, you can just let it drop and you'll be chewing on wood instead of Tale! Doesn't that sound delightful?"

She lifted it in her teeth again, "Mwopen wiiiiiiide~"

This was not what he asked for. Not at all. He didn't want her to go running off and finding him some twig. He wanted to devour her, to crush her in between his massive jaws. If he actually had spinich stuck between his teeth he would've picked it out himself with his claws. He was capable of that. Sometimes he wished she wasn't all that smart, then she would do whatever he asked her to. He liked those who just took orders from him, not run off and do something else.
Shaking his head lightly, he answered, "No, I think I got it out now. Thanks for the help anyway. In any case, you know I wouldn't hurt you, right? And you would be careful picking it out anyhow." He nodded with a smile upon his large maw.

Her tails sunk, and she dropped the twig onto the ground quietly; "I know..." She whined, "I do know you wouldn't, really. I'm sooorrry. I was being mean and stuff. Next time I promise I will. Whatever makes Fen happy." A frown, her ears pulled back in discomfort, now. Tale shuffled thoughtfully on crimson paws, mind wandering slightly; of course he wouldn't do anything to hurt her... what had she been thinking? If his mouth did in fact get tired, he'd do something to warn her, or force himself to keep the thing open so that she was not Kits-and-Bits. She pulled her lips back, pearly white teeth exposed, and she offered him the widest smile she could manage in return for his own.
A moment of consideration, her smile remaining. But quickly she wiped the thing from her face and eyed the larger Kitsu curiously. "Fen ~ are you gonna be mad at me?" She inquired doubtfully, "'Cause I'll make up for it, I promise. Do you like flowers? I'll pick you some flowers! Make you a flower crown...?"

Gawds, of course he wouldn't want a flower crown made by her. She was new at making them. What was she thinking?

This kid was so gullable, but not gullable enough for his tastes. If his mouth got "tired" all of a sudden he would let those teeth sink into her soft, plush-like body. He cared little for her well-being in truth. In fact, he would enjoy every crunch, every taste of her flesh. Man, it would taste delicious too, he bet. He never actually tasted Kitsu flesh before, but he always imagined so. He always imagined it tasting like the chicken he always ate for dinner. They tasted delicious. She was a young thing, too...tender meat all around, he bet.
He shook his head roughly, holding a palm up and shaking a finger, "Tsk, tsk. Of course I don't like flowers. Flowers are for girls. I'm not a girl now, am I? And stop calling me Fen, call me Fenris. That's my name, not any variation of it. You don't hear me calling you something ridiculous like 'Tee' or 'T.A.' or any variation in your name. It's only polite to address me by my real name, right?" He asked as kindly as he could manage.

"Flowers? For girls? Shame on you, silly. Flowers can be for anyone. They're pretty and they smell good. Why would you dislike something that has such a nice fragrance?" She grinned widely at him; and then came something that she was not expecting. He didn't like her nickname? Her petname? Her Fenny-Fen names that she had slaved over for hours (more like three seconds, but melodramatics told her differently)? Oh no. No, no, no - that just would not do. Why did he not like them? Why? They were so perfect. So easy to remember. So him.
 T.A.? Tee?

"But Fenny-Pooper-Mc-" She stopped herself, ears flattening somewhat. "I mean - Fenris..." Tale corrected; the name tickling at her tongue with foreignness as it slipped away, "I would absolutely love it if you called me T.A. or Tee. Those are magnificent nicknames. Really. You're so clever! I mean, if you don't want me to call you the ones I came up with - well, I guess that's okay. Who am I to disagree with the master, right?"

She frowned. A moment of consideration. Then even more consideration.

"Fen-" She paused, "..Ris," again with those corrections, "I mean - I don't know if this is; what I mean is." Her innocent eyes inspected him doubtfully, "Do you hate me?" She mumbled the inquiry quietly.

Flowers were for girls! No self respecting guy would just get a bunch of flowers on their own and set it down in front of their dinning room table, would they? Not unless they had a woman in their life. He hated flowers with a passion. They were terrible. Such bright, obnoxious colors and that disgustingly sweet fragrance. Luckily, they were short-lived...at least most of them were.
She just didn't understand! He was proud of his given name. It was a suitable name for him. Named after the giant wolf who bit off a God's arm. Who else could work this name the way he does? No one, ok? No one. "How about I call you 'Pee' then? Would you like it if I called you that?" He interupted, obviously annoyed.

For being such a dumb, naive and slow kitsu her age, she caught on rather fast. But he wouldn't say...hate, necessarily. Just annoyed. Annoyed with everyone and anyone, mostly. Especially annoying brats who didn't call him by his full name. "Nonono," he answered sweetly, "I don't hate you. How could anyone hate you? You're such a lovely little one. I just get...annoyed sometimes. Especially when you don't call me by my full name." He smiled ever so sweetly and spoke in a Lion King Scar-like voice; sweet but with obvious hidden meanings deep inside.

If he called her 'Pee'? She didn't quite understand this; 'Pee' had nothing to do with her name at all. She supposed she had an 'E' in her name - perhaps that was where he had gotten it from? Of this, she was uncertain; and she wrinkled her nose at him, her curled tails drooping discontentedly. No - of course she would not like the nickname: 'Pee', as other Kitsu would make fun of it like crazy. But then, in retrospect, if Fenris gave it to her... she could wear it proudly, and she would care little if at all what anyone else thought. Unless to tell her that it was awesome, because all nicknames Fen would come up with would be awesome. Totally awesome.
Then he spoke about how he didn't hate her, whereupon he called her a lovely little one. She frowned; she wasn't that little, was she? She could say her full alphabet; and even daddy couldn't do that! But she did have to agree with the lovely part, and so she decided to take the statement as a compliment.

And then he admitted that he could just get irritated sometimes. More so when he was not called by the name given to him when he was born. She frowned at this, decided it was understandable, and bowed her head apologetically. "Of course, of course. Silly me. That totally makes sense! I can call you Fenris, Fenris - if you really want me to. Whatever makes you happy, m'kay? 'Cause you KNOW I want you to be happy, don't you? I totally want you to be happy ~ forever and ever and ever and more evers than that."

She pulled her lips back, revealing pearly white teeth again in one of her famous grins, "And so your name is Fenris, and so that is what I will call you. Sound awesome-possum?"

Compared to him, she was small. Not tiny, but smaller than him. So he had the right to call her small, little, whatever. In any case, he didn't really care what she thought about him. He can think of her whatever he wanted, and he can damn well call her whatever he felt like at the time. So as long as he made up some lie about it later, she'd fall for it. Ah, childrens innocence. He loved it so.
"Yes, Fenris. Fenris would make me happy. Of course you'd want me to be happy, and I want you to be happy, too." He flashed a smile in disguise as a grin. In actuality, he didn't really care for her happiness. As long as she proved entertaining, he'd play with her for that much longer.

"I'm glad we agree on this. And since you call me Fenris, I'll call you by your given name: Tale. Ok? Good. Glad we got that squared away."

But she wasn't going to be a child forever. Then, such was not the indication that she would lose her innocence; yes, it was likely - but not for certain. She loved being herself - the only problem she knew she had was that she was far from independent. She always needed someone by her side; always. And it was truth, and upsetting. But she always had someone with her, she had Milo. Though he was a purple gem and sometimes it was hard to converse with him. Another flaw, and this one she was unsure of, was that she was too trusting. This had been something her father had told her; he had also told her that it wasn't necessarily a bad thing, she just needed to choose her friends and acquaintances a little more wisely. But Tale was not wise...
She glanced up at Fenris momentarily.

Was he bad? Was he someone that her father would approve of her picking? Was he someone her mother would approve of her picking? A quirk of her brow before he said that he wanted her to be happy, too - and then he flashed her a smile. She canted her head at this.

"Yep! All squared away, Fen-friend..." She frowned; uncertainty - was he the right choice for her perfect playmate, "Eeeeerm... I think Robin may be calling..." The girl murmured doubtfully, "Most likely for supper~ soooo... maybe I should go? Unless, of course, Fen...ris, wants me to stay?" She smiled, her tails flicking thoughtfully.
