Sooo Yesterday I was spinning my rifle in the basement and all of a sudden it slipped out of my hands and smashed my toe. x.x At first it just hurt like hell. Then I took some pain killer and spent the rest of the day trying not to tear my hair out from the pain.: sweat: (I eventually fell asleep while watching color guard shows from 2007 WGI championships)
Well I woke up today and my toe is still jacked up, I can't walk at all. I literately had to crawl downstairs.
Well, this sucks. But what do you do on a day that you can't walk? UHG! I was supposes to go hiking, and then call some friends over, but now that’s kind of out of the question. O.o On top of that, my parents wont help me. Xp
Discuss: -Accidents with color guard equipment -What to do on days that you can barely walk without screaming

Wheelchairs scare me. >.<
What about the show? Did you just kind of have to take a "break" from colorguard?

I have 2 stories. 1. so me and my friend were spinning our sabres during lunch, in the chorus room. My friend, decided 2 toss a triple (y? i have no idea) so he broke a light, and his blade and hilt came down seperately, no one got hurt thankfully, but i decided 2 post that one. 2. so it was champs. and we were doing a run through. the friend that i mentioned above tossed his sabre, but our school being stupid has sun roofs along with regular lights. So he tossed his sabre, and the sun changed and everything became brighter, he couldnt see his sabre, and it cut his lip open. He still managed 2 catch his sabre, but had 2 run off the floor cause of the bleeding 3.k this one is about me. it was at champs about 2 weeks ago. a part of our show we have 2 do a flourish, and land on one foot. i did that and landed on the side of my foot and sprained it. luckly i was able 2 perform, but i couldnt participate in the run throughs, or the colorguard olympics(incase you dont no, thats when the guard splits into 2 teams and one person from each team has 2 do the whole show as fast as possible then tag another member of the team, and whichever team finshes all the work the fastest wins. Im not sure if my guard made this up, or other guards do it so im explaining) sad i was really sad that i couldnt do the colorguard olympics cause i am the spaz of my team. My ankle is still sprained and it still hurts to walk.

I remember once we were all on our floor, and we had two groups standing practically back-to-back, and neither group knew the other was there. (I was in the rifle group.) So one of my friends throws a quad, and as soon as she lets go, another girl stumbles and falls right in the way. It came down on her head, whipped back and hit my friend (the one who threw the quad.) in the face and dislocated her jaw, then slammed the floor.
All of us were just like 'O.O ARE YOU OK!?!??!?!?!?!"

Well, during Winterguard season, we were practicing in the cafeteria cause the basketball team had the gym and a friend of mine tried to do a triple.... I THINK... and the flag busted a light. Needless to say we weren't allowed in there again.
Oh..... and at one of the football games one of the members got off step and bumped into a sausaphone and cause the domino effect... >.<

Haha! So, we were having sabre tryouts for WinterGuard two years ago. So, the first group was my older sister (Bunny), my friend Kimber, and myself. I spun rifle before, so I knew some things, my sister got a sabre for Christmas, so she was practicing for a month beforehand, and Kimber never touched a weapon in her life. lol. So, we were trying tosses, and our instructor was, like, 'flick your wrist'. Kimber flicked it, and, instead of rainbowing to her right (my direction), it went right towards my sister, busting her in the head. She fell to the ground, with her hea din her hands, and just sat there. Our instructor walked over, and said, 'Bunny, you okay?' She was, like, 'Sure. It just hurts ALOT.' She was crying while sayign this. she took her hands away, and blood poured from a gash from her head. She ran around in a circle for a good forty seconds, screaming bloody murder, and blood just gushed from her head. Our isntructor grabebd her and sat her down, and the other one called the ambulance. LMAO. The best part was, when we got the bleeidng to slow down (the ambulance took forever!), we took pictures of her and us as a group! xD And the call to the ER. Instructor: 'She's bleeding from the head. She got hit with a sabre. ... ... YES, a SABRE!'
She got five staples from her head, and this awesome scar to go with it. It's amazing. We tell the newbies the story all the time. We got brand new sabres (we couldn't use the old ones. They belonged to the instructor, not the band/guard, and he got fired. Long story.) And now everyone except me is afraid of them. Buwhahahahaha!

oooh. i could tell so many here. but heres two. and the really short versions.
1. sophomore year we were practicing for the homecoming assembly in the smaller band room, which doent have a very high ceiling, tho its not usually a problem. well we were supposed to do this toss with a flag that i just couldnt do. i was right under a light (these are hanging lights too) and i threw the toss and the plastic covering thing over the light crashed down on my head. crying i cant stand under the lights like that any more.
2. so our band director really likes rifles. but all he can do is tosses. he's got a 5 down. he was trying for more one day, and right under a light in the big band room, he threw it and shattered the light! it was so scary! i thought we were all gonna die!
so yeah, lights scare me now...

I have a few stories. 1. Ok so at the begining of fall guard we were all outside practicing a new toss. One of the rookies, hannah, tossed it but when it can down she couldn't catch it so it smashed her in the face. It turns out that the pole hit her mouth and one of her teeth went through both her lip. Our coach looks over and says cool then sends her inside to get patched up.
2. I wasn't here for this one but a year before i joined guard one of the girls put a hole in the cilling of our band room. And our band room is about 25 feet high. Still not sure how that happened.
3. On the day of our first comp.( double comp) I some how managed to hurt both my feet enough so that i coulden't walk. One foot at each comp. After the second one one of the drummers had to carry me back out to the stands to watch the rest of the preformances. It was not a good day for our band. We preformed alright but after we got off it looked like a war zone. my feet were bandaged, one of us was in a wheelchair, one of the drummers got a fracture on her wrist, one of the guard bashed her head on the side of a wall, and two more had headaches. The picture was accually funny.

ok, well one has to do with equipment and one doesnt.
the one that doesn't is when we were on the field i had to get from the 45 to the 35 in about 16 fast counts and on 14 i had to do a saut to the front. i ended up jazz running and sauted into a mole hill where i turned over my foot and almost broke my ankle. this also happened to be on a competition day. so i had to perform on a busted up ankle. but we still got best guard. biggrin
secondly is where i first tried my quad sabre hilt. i had tossed it and ended up buzzing it because i didn't know how fast i had to flick it out for the right rotation. my friend accidentally came up from behind me and pushed me, i barely had time to duck to where it didn't hit me in the face but it still hit my shoulder and left a bruise for two and a half weeks because of how fast it was going.
whee
