I've been playing around with my Fender Jazz Bass (Std, Mexico) for quite a while now, but I've noticed that my sound is quite boomy. So I tried turning some of them knobs, not knowing what they do since I didn't get a manual or instruction flyer with the guitar. Here's the problem:
Guitar hanging around your neck, the left-most knob: This seems to be the one that controls some low-end. This knob does not do anything for 75% of its range (when I turn it three-quarters from 0 to 10), and responds insanely sensitive in the last 25%. Is this normal on a guitar like mine, or would it be suggestable that I take it to the shop to get it checked out?
