I really enjoy the festivities at this particular thread in the WF, but am endlessly frustrated by the overanalytical elitists and illiterate n00bs who think their characters are the kickassiest mass-murderers on the block, and feel the need to solve everything with senseless violence and godmod-ish tendencies.

My solution?

Make an offshot in the CAA, of course! Really, isn't that to be expected by now? rolleyes

How it works: I'm going to post a scenario to get us started. The first person here writes a small scene using one or more of their characters to illustrate how their character(s) would react in said situation. Then they give a new scenario at the end of their post. The next person writes a scene using the scenario the person above them posted. Scenarios are to be quoted at the beginning of the post. Also, if a character is being used that the rest of the guild is not familiar with, please include a short bio consisting of name, age, gender, occupation--something along those lines.

If a scenario is skipped, feel free to quote that one at the end of your post instead of making up your own. Also, feel free to use previous scenarios if you're really bored. In short, just have fun!

Do not post something along the lines of: "My character would do such-and-such then rattle off a string of cuss words and KEEL DEM ALLLL!!!" We want intelligence, here.

----------

Opening scenario: Your character is held up by a thief on their way home at the end of the day. What do they do?

*Bounces up and down.* I wan'a play~!

H'mm, I'll use ... Iris!

Iris shook the sawdust off of her skirt idly, twirling a small piece of wood in-between her fingers. She had stolen -- er, borrowed indefinetely -- it from the woodworking shop. It was only a scrap, but if she turned it sideways and painted it blue, it would resemble ... well, nothing, really.
Maybe if she turned it upside-down and painted it green? It would look kinda like a lumpy turtle then.
Caught up in these thoughts, she didn't notice the rather shady character standing in the middle of the path until she was right in front of him. Iris looked up at him, eyes already in a glare; more than a little annoyed that he didn't have the decency to move out of the way of a lady.

"All of your goods!" He yelled, pointing to Iris. "On the ground!"
Iris shrugged, then shoved the wooden block into his hand. "All yours. I couldn't figure out what color to paint it anyway."

New Scenario: Your character finds a spell that will grant the user eternal youth and/or immortality. However, one of the chief ingredients is the heart of a child -- less than three months -- chopped up into pieces with a dash of oregano on the top. What do they do?

Drazora stared at the scroll in disgust, then pushed himself away from the table. "Who the hell would come up with something like that?" He shuddered, then pitched the scroll into the fireplace. When he had assured himself that it was unsalvigable, he ran towards a basin and began to retch up his toenails.

This much fun should be illegal.

New Scenario: Your character finds him/herself roped into teaching a bunch of children. What does he/she do?

Name: Sabine
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Occupation: Herbalist
Features: Curly red hair; pale, freckled skin; green eyes.

"All right, you rascals," Sabine said in an affectionate but firm voice, "hurry inside and find a seat. Your uncle Iven has hired me to teach you your letters, and--"

She was cut off by a small girl in pigtails. "He's not my uncle, he's my grandpa!"

"He's my third cousin," a dark-haired boy put in.

Not to outdone, a coppery-haired girl insisted, "He's my step-uncle!"

Sabine signaled for the children to be quiet. "All right, whatever he is to you, he hired me to teach you--"

"He's not anything to Domi, though," one of the boys said quietly, and some of the other children agreed.

"Yes, but we're not discussing Dominick right now, we're discussing--"

One of the littlest girls piped up, "Domi and Yinda are out in the garden. Can we go out in the garden?"

"Yes, you may, but not until we've--"

"But I wanna go now," the little girl whined. The entire room whined their agreement.

Sabine waved them silent again. "I'll take you outside in a moment, but we need to--"

"Well, I'm going," the girl with the pigtails declared as she stood up and headed for the door. The rest of the children rose to do the same, but Sabine flung herself at the door, slamming and locking it before the children could reach it.

"Now listen here," Sabine said in a much sharper voice than before, "Iven has hired me to teach you all how to read, and by Heaven, I'm going to! Now sit down, sit still, and shut up!"

The children flinched under her glare and reluctantly went back to their seats. Sabine breathed deeply, smoothed her apron, and went back to stand in front of the children. Smiling sweetly, he held up a slate with a letter chalked onto it. "Now. This is the letter A. Does anyone know a word that starts with A?"

Keenan paused in his thoughts and looked up at the beautiful woman seated beside him. After glancing around for a moment, he said, "You - you were talking to me?"

Smiling, the woman nodded and moved one hand so that it rested on top of one of his.

Keenan snatched his hand away and blushed faintly. "Uh, thanks, but... I'm married-"

"She doesn't have to know, sweetie," the woman insisted, shaking her head and smiling charmingly. They really didn't have time for this type of nonsense, but he could afford to call too much attention to himself with their target so close by.

Keenan smiled wanly and then, hitting on an idea, he schooled his features into a blank mask and then locked eyes with the beautiful woman. His eyes roved up and down her body and then locked onto her eyes once more. "I'm getting kinda hungry and you... look delicious. Maybe with a touch of oregano?"

The woman's eyes widened in shock and she pulled away, scurrying to a safe corner of the bar. As she left, he heard her say something about a freak and sighed.

"What's her problem?" Bertram asked, returning with their drinks.

Keenan shrugged. "Maybe she doesn't like oregano." Bertram gave him a confused look, to which Keenan merely shook his head.

I'm doing Erin with this one... because she'll do something stupid.

----

"So... Utterly... Bored..."

Erin was staring at the piece of pink chalk she had in her hand, and grumbled, "What the hell am I supposed to do?" She finally gave up trying to understand why they had locked her in the room, and started doodling on the wall. Lezze... a line here... a rune here... She then stepped back and admired her summoning circle... then hit herself in the head with the chalk when she realized were she had drawn it. "DAMMIT! Now what am I supposed to do?!"

New scenario: Your character finds a wallet in the street, filled with money. What does he/she do?

Yinda walked cheerily down the street, a bounce in her step, her hands shoved deep in her pockets. Such a nice day...but what should she do with it?

Her foot bumped against something lying on the pavement in front of her. She immediately crouched down to examine the thing, her childish curiosity taking over. She poked and prodded it multiple times, gazing at it from different angles. Finally, she picked it up for closer analysis. It jingled as she moved it, which, in her mind could only mean one of two things--either she was going crazy and starting to hear bells, or there was money inside.

Snapping open the little metal clasp on the top, she upended the thing into her open palm. Coins scattered out, some of them clattering to the ground. She tipped the purse back up in excitement before all the coins could escape, depositing those that had back into the opening. Not a single coin in there less than a gold Taren!

She clutched the purse to her chest and glanced around nervously to make sure no one had seen her. Satisfied that she was perfectly alone, she shoved the purse into one of her deeper pockets and dashed into an alley.

Finders keepers, after all!

New scenario: Your character arrives home to find some stranger who claims to be their cousin sitting on the couch, watching TV, and eating the food from the kitchen. What does your character do?

New scenario: Your character is running from someone and ends up in an alley with only one exit - the one they just came in. What do they do?

Yinda skidded, panting, around a corner and ran on. She could hear her persuer close behind her, and didn't want to wait around to see what happened when he caught her. She should never have dared to pick the pocket of one of the Border Guards, but...she just couldn't help it. She had sticky fingers.

She rounded another corner and stumbled to a halt. What she saw before her nearly made her sick. A dead end! Who built dead-end alleys these days? Convinced that the world was against her, she searched along the wall for some hand-hold or something to help her scramble over the wall and away. Nothing but dirty plaster and even bricks met her fingers.

The sound of running feet made her turn. The black-haired Border Guard halted when he saw she was trapped, and, to her surprise, bent over with his hands on his knees to catch his breath. Yinda backed into the wall, wishing she could simply blend into the bricks. Finally, the guard looked up. She sqeezed her eyes shut and turned her head away.

"You're not a very clever thief, are you?" he asked in an almost regretful voice.

Yinda opened one eye and regarded him. He wasn't very old, probably not even in his twenties. His eyes were slightly slanted and almond-shaped, hinting at a Western heritage, like her own. The guard was dressed in the standard mishmash of armor and equipment of the East, South, and West. He didn't look very dangerous--or very angry, for that matter.

"I'm clever enough," she mumbled at last, "I'm just new in this town. How was I supposed to know this alley was a dead end?"

"Still, letting me catch you," the guard insisted, "not exactly smart on your part. You could've climbed the pile of boxes back there, for instance, and gotten onto the roof of that inn."

Yinda quirked an eyebrow at him. "What kinda guard are you?"

"Not a normal one, that's for sure," the guard said amicably. "But now that I've caught you, you do intend to give me my wallet back, don't you?"

She reluctantly dug into her pocket and produced his wallet, tossing it onto the ground between them. The guard picked it up and checked that everything was as it should be inside. After a moment he slipped it into his own pocket and smiled at her. "I don't suppose you'd like to join me?" he asked.

Yinda blinked. "J-join you? Join you how?"

"Treasure hunting," he said with a wink. "But then again, I didn't think you'd be interested." With that, he turned to walk away.

"Wait!" Yinda called after him. He obeyed and turned slightly, his face patient. "W-what's your name?" she stammered.

"Jericho," he said, and turned back to continue on his way.

She darted after him. "I'm Yinda," she offered, holding out a hand for him to shake.

New scenario: One of your character's companions gets stabbed (lethally or non-lethally, it's your choice). How do they react? How do they try to help their friend?

The character I am using is Meagan, a fourteen year old. And the stabbed character is Zach, who is simultaneously Megan's friend and enemy.

Meagan stared in horror at the growing pool of blood around Zach. Her eyes grew a little bigger. The image implanted itself in her brain.

"I- I didn't mean to..." she stuttered.

"Well you did," Zach said, wincing, "So would you please try to help me, you know, not die?"

"Right," Meagan said. She internally slapped herself for panicing before. She had already pressed her hands onto the gushing wound in Zach's shoulder when she realized that she was still holding the knife. She threw it across the room in disgust and began looking around for anything that could be used as a bandage. As she looked, she thought for a moment. What if she were to let Zach die? The wound would be lethal if untreated, and she could easily plead insanity. She imagined a world with no Zach. No more infuriating arguments about nothing in particular... would that be a good thing or a bad thing? Her eyes continued to scan the room. Why had she stabbed Zach in the first place? Because she hated him. Problem was, yesterday she had liked him. Her eyes caught on a box in the corner labled "First Aid." Leaving one hand on the wound, she reached for it.

Inside were a number of things, but Meagan was only concerned with the bandage. She pulled it out and began wrapping it tightly around Zach's shoulder. Within seconds, it was neatly bandaged, and not bleeding much at all. Meagan wondered why she'd ever thought that wound could be lethal; she happened to have a very good knowledge of what was lethal and what wasn't.

Zach rubbed his forehead with his good arm.

"Did you..." he began, "Did you just... stab me?"

Meagan stared at him for a second and stood up. Blood had gotten all over her, but she didn't particularly care. She wondered if she'd done herself a favor by saving him.

"Yes," she said, "Yes I did stab you."

They stared at each other for a second. Zach sat up.

"Well... are you going to do it again?"

"I don't think I will."

"Oh, thank you so very much."

"That knife's still in the room you know..."

"Alright, sorry." Zach paused for a moment, then added, "You just stabbed me... and I'm apoligizing?"

"So it would seem," Meagan said with a wicked smile. She decided that saving Zach was a good idea after all.

Janus plodded forward through the snow-covered street of Frostshire, cursing the cold all with every sinking step. She noticed, out of the corner of her eye, a kid -- probably no more than ten years old -- following her at a distance. Frankly, she didn't care. She wanted to get to her apartment, where the walls at least shielded her from the wind.

It was when the kid picked up pace and started running towards her that she turned her head fully to see him. He bumped into her, and Janus quickly reached one of her long arms out, coiling her fingers around the kid's arm.

"What?" The kid immidiately whined, turning to snarl at Janus.
"My wallet," she said, flatly. "Give it back."
"What wallet? I don'know what you're talking about, lady."
Janus let go of his arm, but only to reach further forward and grab him by the collar. She lifted him into the air with that grip, bringing him to eye-level. "Give it to me or I'll feed your guts to the fish in Ekal."
The kid grimaced, then reached into his pocket and handed Janus her wallet. Janus dropped him, giving him a soft kick when he hit the ground. He scrambled to his feet, glaring in defiance at his apprehender.

Janus thumbed through her wallet, watching him all the while.
"Now get lost."

Age: 140 (looks about 35)
Gender: Male
Occupation: Healer, Lord Elder of the Good Mage's Fellowship

"Oh!" the little warlock yelped, "But I didn't mean to! Stupid!" he yelled at the corpse in front of him. "Stupid mage. Never throw a lethal spell at a reflective shield. It'll just hit you!"

Biting his lip, he began to pace but hit his own shield and bounced off, much the way the spell had just done. "Bloody hell! Stupid... stupid mage!" He wasn't sure if that last was directed at himself or the dead mage on the floor. Banishing the shield he knelt over the body and sighed, beginning to shake. "Alaric!!!" he yelled, summoning the conjorer who worked with him on the Tribunal. "What'm I gonna do?" he moaned. Lord Elder or not, it was illegal to kill with one's magic. Maybe he could claim extenuating circumstances?

"What's wrong-" Alaric said entering the room. "Oh, Phillip," he continued, noticing the body. "Did you...?" He didn't finish the statement as he was stuck by 100 pounds of upset warlock. "There, there, Phillip, it'll be alright," the older mage comforted.

Erin opened her eyes groggily, mentally cursing the person who came up with hangovers. She sat up and was about to rub her eyes when she realized that her throat was itching like crazy. She looked down and said, " WHAT THE ********?! HOW THE HELL'D I GET COVERED IN PEANUT BUTTER?"

She frantically tried to get the sticky mass off, then gave up and screamed, "SCHYLER!! Get the Dracoflora*!"

Schyler walked in and said, "I was expecting this. You got drunk enough to take a dare to jump into a vat of peanut butter. I don't know WHY you let yourself get that drunk, but..."

Erin had already began hitting her head against the floor, snarling, "Stupid, stupid, stupid..."

*- Dracoflora is antihistamine. Erin's allergic to peanuts.

New scenario: Your character gets jumped by the local gang. What are they going to do about it.
This is Jack, a sixteen year old boy from Ghast's story.

Jack walked quietly down the deserted streets. He liked walking at night, when no one was around and the only sound was his own footsteps. He paused a moment and listened to the silence.
This was, however, broken. Jack heard footsteps approaching him and turned to see who was coming.
A pack of young men were approaching and looking extremely intimidating. Jack recognized a couple of the younger ones from school. His shoulders slouched and he held his arms out.
"OK," he said, "Go ahead and beat me up. Just no weapons, if it's not too much trouble."
The gang exchanged confused glances, silently came to a consensus of "what the hell" and began beating Jack up.
After about three painfully long minutes of pummeling, they got bored and walked off.
Jack remained curled up on the pavement for a few minutes, finally stood back up, and continued walking home.

Drazora sat up, holding his head in his hands. "What the hell..." Then, realization of where he was began to sink in. "
The solider kicked him and growled, "You should know this, demon!" He opened his mouth to protest, then realized it was no use. Stupid bastards... Imprisonng me for no reason... He started muttering a string of curses strong enough to boil the rivers of hell, and the guard took several slow steps away from him.

"You got chucked in 'ere for no reason too?"

Drazora turned around and saw his cellmate, and warily said, "Yes... Why do you ask?" The other man laughed. "Because being anything other then a human is prolly considered a crime here!" Drazora was puzzled by the man's twisted sense of humor, but was so used to Erin's sadistic mind that it didn't really faze him.

"Welcome to hell, buddy. Welcome to hell."
