Mako sat on a tree with a look of bemused speculation on his face. Imagining a real Jounin, maybe even an elite Jounin, or, dare he think it, an ANBU training him. It was a wild speculation, and though his head was filled with doubts, it at least gave him some temporary happiness. All the Jounins already had a team or were off away negotiating for some weird purpose. None left for poor Mako. He hopped off the tropical tree and dusted off the bark and insects on his clothing and he was off yet again.

"Might as well try again." He whispered to himself with a heaping of tired doubt, hopping along the rocks in a little game to cheer himself up.

"G'damnit."

Mako walked into the darkened forest with dreams shattered like glass, and sat with a posture resembling sludge falling down. It was all he could do. After all had happened, there was nothing left of the poor boy except maybe a grimace of self-pity. He waited for someone to rescue him from mediocrity, and he knew there was nothing he could do but get back on the branch.

That is until a note fell out of his shirt.

With a grim curiosity, he opened it and read: "Dearest Mako. If you are reading this, then get your a** back here. I know you aren't very satisfied with yourself, and I appreciate that but there isn't much left to do but... But..."

Mako gave a sigh and picked up his pieces, his shame, his anger and went back to the city hall.

"To shut up, act, and keep going."
