[[This is going on after the birth of Luna and Bai's cubs. They can talk, walk and see.]]
Luna had lost the weight quickly. Her youngest children were alreay walking. Now it was time for her and her mate to officaly claim this land for there selves and form a pride. Luna moved to the front one the the dens in the land. She smelt the morning air. She knew lions would be coming around, it seemed every time a pride was formed lions knew it, and showed up.

Her claws extended a few times making marks in the small layer of dirt below her feet. She carfully watched her daughter and adopted son. Wondering where Hibana, Her son and mate were.

Tiernay frowned a bit as he walked over to his adopted sister and used his paw to push down her rump. "When your in the grasses you need to keep your butt down like this." He crept down low to the ground, keeping his tail close to him and his ears back and gaze foreward, walking quietly and carfully. "See, then the prey does not know your there. Now even though there is no cover try to sneak up on me. Keep your rump down though."

Even though Soli was still young her brother enjoyed teaching her how to hunt and play and other things that she would most likly learn when she was older, but then again Tie was a good big brother.

She crept foreward, not as good as her brother, but still pretty good for her age. Then she slowly lept from the ground and was stoped by her brother pinning her down and licking her face. "Tie!" She giggled. "Stooopp." She started laughing harder.

Hibana was leading the way, head held high and tail waving like a fiery flag. This was what she'd been waiting for ever since the cubs were born, and Luna and Bai Shan had started talking about forming a pride. She didn't know exactly what a pride was, of course, but it involved lots of other lions, didn't it? And new lands! New things to see! That would be fun! Her green eyes sparkled with energy, though she did remember to glance back once in a while and make sure the others were keeping up.Alcarin too held his head high, looking about them curiously. There was so much to see here, with the sky an infinity's stretch of placid blue between horizons. In the temple the ends of sight were the cool walls of age-darkened stone, but here it felt like he could walk forever and all he would find was more sky, and more plains, and the air vibrating with the buzz of myriad insects... He smiled, the first one to see the three lions up ahead, and tumbled forward to meet the rest of their family, head-butting his mother in the flank and burying his face in her soft warm fur happily.Bai Shan walked more slowly than the others, cautious of his youngest cub. Something about Alcarin just seemed so fragile, despite his usual good-natured manner. Maybe it was because even at this age the undersized youngster still hadn't spoken. It was a little worrying. Was Bai Shan doing something wrong? The panda-lion grinned with his usual humor at his mate, though, when they caught up to the other group. "Sorry we're late," he said, rubbing up against her in greeting.

Having watched the group from a distance, Rand seemed only mildly interested in them. He'd thus far kept from getting their attentions, but with what he could count as six? Six lions.... they'd eventually find him. Growling something about it being his bit of land, he shook his mane and walked toward the tiny collection of water he'd been using as a watering hole. It wasn't much more than a slightly clearer mud pit, but it sufficed for now. A rogue lion had to go with what Zahina gave him. Finally getting his thirst under control, Rand began circling a bit, creating a nice cozy to sleep in in the tall grass. He had been up all night hunting. It had been unsuccessful and he had come back to his familiar ground bitter at the hunt. All he wanted to do was curl up and sleep.

Luna looked up another lions scent danced to her nose. Who was that. Maybe some one who wanted to join. She smiled and looked back at her fmaily. "I will greet this one." She smiled and started to head over to the male.
"Hello." She spoke and looked him over. "I am Luna, I hope to own these lands soon. I am pretty sure you have came to join." she smiled and nodded. "Or I hope you camed for that reason, my family are more than happy to have anyone come and join our hopefully pride."

Rand sighed as he heard the whispered footfalls of a lion coming toward him. Guess that sleep is out of the question. He thought grumpily. He sat up and watched as the lioness sauntered over to him. She was attractive there was no doubt. Their colourings contrasted drastically, but he could appreciate the details in her coat.

Listening to her little speech, Rand snickered at her claim to owning the lands soon. He was positive there were other prides out there that searched these lands for food, much stronger than her pack of cubs. He kept the comment to himself however, to keep from being rude. He was one to keep those thoughts to himself... usually....

Thinking for a moment after she was done, Rand got up and stood over her, casting a shadow across her face. "I was already here, so i didn't come to do anything. However, you may need someone that knows the area if you're to attempt to... claim it. I could act in that capacity, though i don't enter into prides lightly. For now i'll be content as a guide. " He smiled, but it came up more as a smirk. He was a rogue lion at heart, and somewhere along the lines, he'd picked up the arrogance of one.

Luna eyed the male. She felt insulted, what a nice way to begin this day. "Look I've met lions like you, your young." She rolled her eyes. "I've been here for a while now, I know my way around, and we have not had any probelms with other lions claiming this land." She sat back on her haunches and watched him.
She eyed him. "We do not need a guide." she shook her head. "We need others to help get this pride up and running, also to help support the pride." She grinned. "I'm pretty sure you could handle little things like that." She stood back up. "Come." She growled lightly. "If you want to talk like that then you better join." She started walking back up to were her family was.

Rand was seething. He was barely younger than she, maybe one year, yet she acted as if he were one of her children already. If this is the way it's going to be... he thought in his head. Staring at her walk away, he heard the play of the cubs somewhere nearby. It wasn't much, but it was enough to get him to mindlessly follow. He wasn't desperate for a Pride, but he wouldn't mind an afternoon of company at the very least. And perhaps this lionesses mate was less condescending. So Against his better judgment, he followed her.

The scent of a strange male had reached Bai Shan's nose a heartbeat after it did Luna's. He should probably stay to keep an eye on the cubs, and indeed his mate had said she would handle things. But Hibana and Tiernay were certainly old enough by now to do that themselves, and despite the panda-lion's lingering worry for his son, old habits died hard. Bai Shan liked being where the action was. He didn't notice the slightly worrying way Alcarin was watching him, expectant.
Besides, he rationalized to himself as his paws started to take him along the path hers had traced through the brush, who knew how friendly the other lion might be, and whether Luna might think otherwise, he felt like he had a duty to protect his mate. He loved her sunny outlook on life and generous nature, but that might not be the best approach here...

...Or maybe he was just worrying too much again. His black ears moved to catch the sounds of one, maybe two, lions coming back to meet them, and he stopped, trying to pretend he had been waiting with the cubs all along.

Luna smiled as she saw Bai Shan and right away wandered over to him pushing her head against his chest and purring. She smiled, and went to say something. She eyed the male for a moment. "Never got his name... you can take care of that." She muttered a bit. "Tie! Hib!" She called her two, teenage children over, they were adopted but she was already starting to feel old. She grinned and stepped over Alcarin and nuzzled his little check. She then looked up for a moment and flopped around her tail for Soli to play with.
And thats what she did. Soli imensely watched her mothers tail, nipping at it and pulling at the strands of hair. She giggled and sprinted over to her father's paw and nipped at his feet laughing. "Dadddy!" She giggled more and rolled over on her back.

Tiernay rolled his eyes as he was called, he really did not feel like standing up. He walked over by his father, almost the same size as him, and flipped his 'mane' out of his eyes. "Who are you." He stared at the male

Staring down the back of the female Lioness as she strolled away, it wasn't until she was out of sight in the brush that Rand turned toward the two male Lions. Eying them a moment, he turned to the younger one.

"I'm called Rand. Had the Lioness bothered to ask it i'd have told her. She seemed content on assuming she'd just recruited a new member of her little Pride." Sitting down on his haunches, Rand stared at the lions, trying to gauge their dispositions.

He licked at Luna's cheek, eyeing the male that had followed her curiously. And when had Tiernay gotten so big? Hibana too, he noticed suddenly. Cubs grew so fast, and then... He forced his mind back to the present as the stranger spoke. Bai Shan was a lion in his prime still, no matter the age of his children, and there were more important things at hand here than to be worrying about the far-off future.
Well, no wonder Luna had sounded a little testy. He wasn't too sure how he felt about some male taking that tone with his son, either. But he kept his patience, remembering all those times he had been the rogue facing down the rudeness of a pride leader. It felt good to have the situation finally reversed.

"So you're not here to join us, I take it?" He grinned. "We'll enjoy your company as long as you care to stay, I'm sure. I'm Bai Shan, and that was my mate, Luna. These are our children Tiernay, Hibana, Alcarin, and-" He buried his head in the playful cub's stomach as she rolled over, snorting a hot, wet breath into her face, "-this is Soli. Where do you hail from, Rand?"

"Yup?" Hibana skidded to a halt at the sight of the stranger. Oh boy! New lions already, and they had barely started! This was going to be every bit the adventure she had hoped for, she could already tell. "Hello!" she exclaimed breathlessly. Though she and her brother might be near-grown, it was nearly as hard to tell as ever what age Hibana actually thought she was. She was still very much the carefree little cub Bai Shan had first found what seemed like only yesterday.

Alcarin purred happily, inhaling his mother's warm and comforting scent. Suddenly filled with the urge to play at the sight of Soli, he tumbled forward after her, pausing only to wrestle that irresistible gold-flecked tail into submission. He pounced on his sister with paws outstretched just as their father returned to speak to the other lion.

Wait, what other lion? Someone new. His black-ringed eyes were wide and curious, studying Rand carefully.

Liking this Lion much better than his mate, Rand turned to him. "I've been around the area here for a few months, and before, farther into the desert. " Pawing the ground a little, Rand looked at the cubs as he was introduced. They were so young. So innocent. "And i don't enter into prides lightly. The last pride i came across ran me into the desert, leaving me to barely scraping a living for near a year. I returned after circling to this area. So as you can see, I havn't had the best of luck."
Turning to the tiny lioness to be, Rand returned her hello. She was nearly grown, and her dark fur intruiged him. He'd rarely seen any with such dark fur. She looked almost more panther than lioness. He knew the pains of having such dark fur in the desert sun. The heat.. the....

Rand shook his head. He still felt disconnected and odd. The desert had changed him. He used to be a carefree cub, but now... now there was no telling who he was. He hadn't been around anyone else to find out.

"I... will accompany you for a while. I make no promises though." He added the last part hastily, not wanting to sound committed.

Soli was slightly caught off gaurd when she was pounced on, after her father tickled her belly. She manged to flip herself over and n** at her brother. She didn't really know why her brother didn't talk much, what ever the reason was she really didn't care. At first she didn't notice the other male then his scent finnally reached her nose. She flipped over not really caring that her brother was still sitting on her. She blinked at the male. "Whozat?" She said looking up at her father and nipping at his paws.
Tiernay glared the male up and down not liking it when the male looked at Hibana. "Don't look at my sister that way." He snaped, he was a bit quiet not to sure if anyone could hear him but he needed to get that out. He didn't care who this lion was but he was not going to look at his sister that way.

So his name was Rand. It was a short, final sort of name, she thought. Not like So-li, or Lu-na, or Al-ca-rin. But it suited him somehow. "Are you a rogue, then?" Spoken by another, the words might well seem accusatory or insulting, but the admiring curiosity in Hibana's unguarded eyes belied them. "A wanderer? Why would they run you off like that? You don't look so bad," she added.
She caught the tone of Tiernay's voice with half an ear, but not the words, though it was clear by his glare that he addressed Rand. "What's wrong?" Hibana asked innocently, looking at her brother. "I was just being friendly."

"Hibana," Bai Shan hissed, embarrassed at her audacity. It had been sweet when she was a cub, and her petite frame still had much of the child about it, but maybe he'd spoiled her a little too much. When she looked up at him, though, surprise evident on her face, he couldn't bring himself to confront her. Let Hibana stay his little girl for just a while longer...

He coughed a little, trying to regain his composure, and turned back to Rand. "Not all prides are all that welcoming of outsiders as they'd have you believe," he agreed. "I've been chased out more than a few times myself." His tail twitched uncomfortably, remembering the jaws that had snapped shut just inches from ripping out more than black fur. Then he blinked. Bai Shan was no longer that loner; he had a mate and children to settle down with now. He recovered himself just in time to catch the other lion's last words. "You will?" Bai Shan's voice was surprised - he had expected no such offer - but he tried to cover it up quickly with a friendly smile. Rand seemed oddly hesitant after his words earlier. "Whatever you decide, you are welcome." The black and white lion had not heard his son's angry words.

Alcarin's curiosity at the sight of Rand was instantly forgotten as his sister nipped at him playfully. He growled softly and launched himself to head-butt her in the forehead, gripping the loose skin around her neck as if to wrestle Soli to the ground. She was always lots of fun to play with.

Then she suddenly flipped over and looked up, nearly bowling Alcarin off of her stomach. Oh, right, the stranger. He flopped a paw over her muzzle to warn her to hush, though he was interested too. Let the grown-ups sort all this out.
