F.G. sat in the library quietly sorting through boxes, organizing the library and trying to get it into some semblance of organization. Ilyusha and Pita were out running errands, so the man sat alone, occasionally staring out the open window at the magnificent eclipse that was occurring on this quiet evening.

It was a rare, rare day when Naita had not even the slightest of alcoholic hazes infringing upon her vision. This was not a rare day, and with a slightly tipsy smile snaking across her features, the woman trailed behind a red-headed and overly bouncing child, chattering animatedly about some sort of grasshopper she had named Enro. The somewhat foolish grin failed to slip as the pair entered a far more sober place than her usual haunts. Naita had had her share of good times behind bookshelves. Bookshelves were fun! Why were they amongst bookshelves?
Ahead of her 'mother,' Meer skipped on every third step, dress swishing as she did so, and the insect clasped inside her fist complaining with each jolt to it's person. Enro was a strange grasshopper. He didn't like jumping!

F.G. stood to greet Naita and Meer, but his face quickly clouded over as he saw the girl waver a bit as she stepped into the strange moonlight.
"Meer, are you..?"
He reached to a hand to the little page, but before his fingertips could reach the little girl's forehead, she dissolved into a puddle.
"Meer!" F.G. stooped down, careful not to touch the puddle in any way. He cast his steely eyes on it before cocking his head to the side. He listened for several long moments before taking a deep breath and plunging his face into the puddle, disappearing up to his shoulders.

"I-" Naita stopped short. Even in her most drunken moments, she had never experienced the likes of this. Did Meer just... melt? And was this little man now sticking his head into the melted remains of her? What the hell was going on here? In fact, that question had such potency she repeated out loud. With expletives. And force. "What the bloody bleeding sodding hell are you doing, and why are you sodding bleeding bloody melting my Meer?!"
Spleen thus vented, she looked about for a chair, failed, and plonked her rear end on the floor.

F.G. pulled his head out of the puddle, gasping for air and flinging water on some nearby books.
"It's allright." He stood, wiping his face on a sleeve and offering Naita a hand. "You'll just have to go get her."
Righting the woman, he walked to a stack of boxes, carefully looking at each before issuing a soft 'a ha' and opening one. He pulled out a rather nondescript tome, opening it and reaching his hand deep within the pages. When it reappeared, he was holding a snorkeling set.
"You might need these in there."

Oh, that was OK then, she'd have to go and get Meer. ... she'd have to go and get Meer? From a puddle? What in god's name was going on in this place? This wasn't a fun library. This was a bad library. Bad library.
"What the sodding bloody hell do you mean go and get her? And what the bleeding hell do you mean by pulling things out of books? That's not right! You're a bad librarian!"
No alcohol haze now, alas. Watching a child become a puddle had returned her to sobriety with a sickening thud.

F.G. just gave the woman a mysterious smirk, placing the items in her hand and nudging her gently between the shoulder blades until her toes touched the puddle.
"Put those on and jump in. Meer isn't far, but I'd get her before the eclipse is finished. You don't have long now..."
He looked toward the window, and then back at he woman, before pushing her the rest of the way onto the puddle.
SPLASH!

As Naita felt the water surround her, and, more impotantly, streaming up her nose, she silently cursed the little man. He would be hearing from her lawyer! Once she got a lawyer. She would bloody well get vengeance!
Wait... what was that about an eclipse? Oh, bugger. She attempted to pick a direction, before swimming at random.
Heeeere Meer. Heeeeeeeeeere Meer.

"Nai? Nai, I can hear you..."
The waters around you stir and shift, and you can make out the watery shape of what you think is Meer in front of you. Perhaps it's just her transparent form, but she looks...different. But that voice, that questioning child's voice is definitely hers.
"I feel funny..."

What the... Naita attempted to grab at the watery figure floating before her, attempting to swear, answered by a stream of bubbles flowing from her mouth. Swimming wasn't much fun in water one suspected was made of a child, and more so when it talked and played tricks on you. Naita was most seriously displeased.

Your hands fly through Meer, but you watch as she catches one of your air bubbles effortlessly, raising it to her lips. She appears to breathe into it, and in moments you and she are contained within the sphere.
You are able to breathe easily now, and Meer's watery form looks at you deeply.
"Nai, I don't like this. I'm scared." She pauses tentatively, before lifting watery eyes at you. "Am I drunk? Don't you feel floaty when you're drunk?"

Naita had seen some strange things in her life, children from pages or amulets being up there, but this was quickly eclipsing any other experience on the weird scale. As Meer somehow drank a bubble and ensconsed them both within it, Naita stared at the watery form of the girl. What she said next was the straw that broke the camel's back. "DRUNK? You can't be drunk! I'll get arrested if you're drunk! ... will I get arrested if you're water? Oh god, I need you to be sober and fleshy, and not go to jail!"

"I'm not water, Nai. Can't you see me?"
Meer tries to touch her own face, and realizes that her own hands pass through it. She seems to snap out of her panic a bit at this realization.
"Oh...that's why I feel funny. The moon was doing weird things, and I guess it changed me a bit. Where are we?"

Attempting to shake the horror from herself, Naita sighed. Where were they? Where WERE they? They were in a Meer-puddle. A Meer-puddle, for god's sake! "We're leaving." Once said, the problem presented itself. How the hell did one get a water-kid out of water? Giant straw? No. Big glass? No. Shirt? YES.
Stripping the garment in a second, Naita wrapped it around the kid, soaking her up before making a mad dash for the surface. She'd wring Meer out once she was out.
