Ok, first off I don't know if this is just a problem with Gaia, or just this guild. But everyone kinda dissconnects themselves from each other.... I've noticed this in this guild, and chains and tamed, people come in, read what posts interest them, type up their response, and then never give the thread or the people there a second glance. It's like, everyone goes and creates their threads, and then every once and awhile pokes their head in someone elses to say a few things and reatreat back to their own. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have, and I try to do what I can to help stop it--
Such guilds can be so much more fun if we don't mind walking next to the cliff. Fixing the problem'd be lovely, really, but I'm not quite sure exactly how...
A pity it's around in the first place, though.

seriously, it's like..... a community site, but without the whole community attachment.... I'm gonna say the site it's self, simply because I see this problem in gaia itself not just this guild. It's like, there's no personal attachments between anyone here. Sorry if anything I say offends someone, these are just my observations.

It does happen.. And perhaps more personal anecdotes would help to strengthen the community... But another roadblock is the fact that whether or not this stuff's allowed on Gaia is, in theory, debatable.
That and age issues might also be contributing to everyone's tight-lippedness.
That or we might just all be shy.

this stuff is allowed on gaia, I've been a member of chained and tamed, a bigger bdsm guild that's been around for quite some time, and aslong as we don't post any nude pics, direct links to porn sites, or rps that could in any way shape or form be counted as cybering we're fine.... As for the age and all that, *shrugs* Hi, I'm Casey a 17 year old dom who has been living the S/M lifestyle for about two years now. As a master I am always seeking ways to better myself, those that serve under me, and oppertunities to teach others.

I know what problem you're talking about and I think it's because we can't always be online. I am on as much as possible but I am in every extra-curricular that the school offers so I don't have too much time to be on Gaia. Recently my Internet died, so I've been out for about a week, my apologies.
Anyway, I'm Tazz, a 17 year old sub just getting to know the lifestyle. I've been a bottom since I started have physical relationships, but i only recently found about the world of BDSM. I want to learn and teach others what I have learned.

I understand--
As a sub, I am the same way with the whole bettering of self and such... It tends to be an ongoing hobby, if that wouldn't be a blasphemous word to use (and if it would be, all the better) in this context. Mind you, this is not to say that I don't take self-improvement seriously-- just to say that it's a perpetual thing.
I haven't been living the lifestyle, per say, but I have been in 24/7 relationships with partners I've seen occasionally-- I'd love to live it as a lifestyle, but at where I am in my life, that's just not practical.
In any case, however, I think that contests and events will help to solve the problem-- happy 1k!

ok, well what events and such could we do? Also who would we make these suggestions to? I haven't been a member of this guild for long, and my own request was shot down, so I don't know who the mods are yet.

I'm so sorry, hon, but I can't remember what your suggestion was.
Shy and I mostly run the place, and if you want something done, I'm usually on more often than her.
I didn't know that it wasn't public information-- I think that at the top of the guild page, there's a 'member's list' type option, and that the status' and positions of all members are available to read, but if not, please let me know and I'll set up a directory of sorts.

My request to be a mod ;-P also I think there is a thing saying who the members are and that.... just a little lazzy >.< so anyways what events and activities can we do? I mean we're not exactly a guild that can do everything we want right here on gaia. But at the same time to have the community interaction every good guild needs to have with their members, we do need to have something a little more then whatever threads our members make... or atleast that's what I think.

Hrm...
Honestly, I think we have enough mods for the work that needs be done in proportion to the number of members we have... But that's not necessarily my call. It's mostly Shy's you know.
But... If you manage to get a handful of active members to join, I don't see any reason why we wouldn't need another mod. Nothing official, you know, but if activity increased, there might be more work that needs to be done.
Shy's been working on that a little with the 'Events' forum. She's started up a contest, and in one of my threads, I've put out an offer for free art in celebration of our one-thousand posts.
If you're thinking of having something off of Gaia too, why don't we put together a yahoo newsgroup? We can have links and profiles and readings and such there. It might help to enforce the community... It might be just another site that we forget about... But it's another option.

I totally like the Yahoo idea. Also, Freewebs has a great message board setup that's well, free.
And Zurah is right, for now I think the number of Mods is proportionate, but if you want to be a Mod i guess that's a pretty good insentive to start recruiting! 3nodding
I changed my mind about Mods being the only ones able to post new Events in the respective forum. Have at it, I'm about to go change the text.

I don't think that what we need is a message board. We have a message board. I think we need more of an email/newsgroup sort of thing affiliated with gaia (Like a sister site) so that each works independently, but their spheres of work, so to speak, don't overlap too much-- So not much is redundant.
I'm thinking another name might be nice, and freewebs could work, but a newsgroup (I've seen some really good ones via Yahoo) would be best.

ok, understand about the whole mod thing. even if we get the other site, the question still remains. What activities/events are we going to do? Perhaps we should figure that out before deciding on another site, seeing as we might be able to do it here.
