Who did you like playing as better in DMC4? Dante or Nero? I personally liked playing as Nero better. Sure, he didn't have and interchangable weapons, or different styles or anything, but I actually enjoyed that fact. Capcom seemed to make Nero into a mix of everything good about Dante. For example, Table topper is waaay better than royal guard in my opinion. The exceed gauge is absolutely amazing, especially after upgrading to max and getting the max exceed ablility. The whole thing with the arm is amazing as well. Just the fact that I can bring my enemies TO me instead of having to run after them lets me keep my combo going a lot longer.
That being said, I feel that they kinda screwed up Dante in the process of making Nero so awesome. Dante's styles are waaay nerfed in the game. Sure, you can change styles at a moment's notice, but they changed so many things about the styles that I actually found myself just using rebellion with swordmaster. Trickster and Gunslinger, which were my favorite styles on DMC3 were nerfed the most in my oppinion. Trickster being the worst. You only get one dash with Trickster, as compared to the 3 that you get in DMC3. I never actually found myself dashing into an enemy and jumping off or whatever, so that was useless to me. You can't run on walls anymore either. I have mixed feelings about Gunslinger. Pandora is absolutely amazing coupled with Gunslinger, but the lack of sliding on enemies made me sad. Especially after one of the first cutscenes has Nero sliding on an enemy.
Anyway, those are my thoughts, let's hear yours. Dante or Nero?

dude i know exactly what you mean, nero does actually kick a**, which shocked me as i was like "eh neros a t**t" not long ago, i enjoyed nero and Dante was a huge dissappointment, i mean WHERE WAS AIR RAID!!!!!!!!????? nowhere to be used, and i found that i just used rebellian. im glad that Kick 13 came back as a move, but i feel that they just made Dante a typical Hack and slash character, i mean you didnt really need a stratagy unless you count Blitz which knowing how to dodge and using the shotgun came invaluable. although i do admit Dante did prove to be promising, there was some good stuff they could used in a future game i.e. instant style change and a few of the moves that were used, i hoped that they would have had some original moves for gilgemesh but no they didnt. who knows maybe a wake up call to capcom.
dose anyone actually see the reason why it took capcom 3 years to release dmc4? to me it was a rush job.

I don't know, Nero was one of the only characters in Devil May Cry history that made me want to skip cutscenes. "Boohoo, life is so unfair this!" "Kirie that!" "I'm so dark and forboding, just like every other anti-hero out there." Not only that, but it took me forever to get used to his controls. Sure, his hand is nice and all, but it can't make up for Nero's character. He doesn't even have a sexy DMC girl to join him in the kicking of demonic butt!
Nero has made me love what Dante gives the genre more than ever actually.
Playing as Dante was like meeting an old friend after not seeing them after a year. My hands just sort of fell into the controls, and my heart just fell for our anti-emo protagionist. He's silly, but that's kind of what attracted me to the game in the first place. Being over the top, and being rated on how good you can be at being over the top. Not to mention the weapon switching makes gameplay much less repeatitive.

Me personal, I love to play as Dante, not just because he is funny. Matter of fact, the true reason is that Dante was my first character to hear, see, and play. My brother was the one who told me about Dante, for that moment, I'd dreamed of helping out Capcom for future DMC games. I got the job, DMC 4 was already in procces. But I'll be creating for the 5th one. xd Sorry, but I can not give the details ahead of time. So, please don't ask about it. Other than that, I dislike Nero. Why? is because he has taken my Dante's position and looks. xp

I vote NERO! ^_^
Nero was easier to use than Dante. It's odd to say that since I figured I would have an easier time with Dante after playing as him for the first 3 games.

I still go with Dante since he's so unstoppable when he's in devil trigger mode not like Nero when he goes devil trigger mode and a monster attacks him he still flies away, when a monster attack dante he endures it but you still get the damage though but still.. And I think if you're really a good hardcore gamer like switching styles while switching weapons you'll realize Dante can combo better than Nero. and btw Trickster has a teleport in DMC4 royal guard is awesome since if you can't use trickster u can just switch quick to royal guard and boom kill the monster instantly. The powers of the characters in the game relies on the player so if you know how to use their true skills then you'll know who's better biggrin

Repeat after me: Gameplay is subjective.

I have to say, I had just gotten used to Dante when the new game came out and they threw Nero at me.
Game wise: Nero is a little better (for me) control wise, while Dante can take a bigger hit. I have less fuss and switch over playing as Nero, but if I am in a pinch, Dante will last longer with me.
Character wise: I like Dante better, hands down. He is witty, humorous, sly and still an all around wise-crack. Nero reminds me of an a**-wipe I work with on a daily basis. Cute to look at? Ok, sure. Fun to listen too? .....eh...no.

The way I see it DMC4 was made for Nero's story. So of course, he's going to be alot easier to use in the game. Which pretty much helped my friend played it because she had no expereince with Dante. But yeah, if you've played him and know how to utilize his skills to the fullest, then it's pretty easy.
I personally like Dante.

I can't choose because it depends on what you want from a character. I like Dante's personality better because he's a unique character whereas Nero is a run-of-the-mill hero who wants to save the girl. But I did really like Nero's fighting style and his arm. I was looking forward to playing Dante during DMC4 but when I did play him it was harder than playing with Nero. I found it easier to string Nero's moves together and keep an endless flow of combat going whereas with Dante it was just hack and slash.
