Lag is definitely going to be an issue. I tried playing with a fellow west coaster and there was about a 1 second interval between my button presses and the characters actually moving.
That 1 second might not seem like much, but once you play, you'll understand just how irritating it is, especially for a player trying to sweetspot the edge.

Hm....I might have to recommend people buying the thing that allows you to do a wired connection....If I dont then its going to end up being really slow...And thats the only way I could think of someone getting a fast connection.

if I can get confirmation that wired will work faster than wireless and it be a significant difference I'll buy a USB converter for a direct connection.

Im just going to assume it will cause it will be connected directly into the router...And if you have a fast connection then yeah...No lag x3

I'm running on Shaw high speed internet. Router's behind a wall, but it shouldn't make a difference since even my DS hardly gets lag while playing Jump Ultimate Stars. I don't know about the other guy, but everything on my end is fine.
By the way, when I said "fellow west coaster", I meant I'm up in British Columbia, and he's in California. So actually, if you play against people within the same province/state, lag may not actually be a problem.

This will just make cross country tournaments very tough. We might not be able to the large tournaments we were hoping for. Although those who have good solid highspeed connections might be able to participate. Hopefully. : (

well I'm not sure how much you guys know about programing for servers and stuff, but nintendo is using internet connection stuff from WAAAY back. they clearly didn't try. to compare it for you guys, its basically the same as starcraft online play. and starcraft is 10 years old mind you.
this means if one person lags, everyone lags. I dont see 2v2 tourneys working.
oh, if only all games used TF2's server system.....*sigh*

Yeah, you made it sound like you guys were in the same State, instead of half a world away..... I shouldn't have any problems being in New York, so I get a good connection from people on the West coast of America, and people in Europe, so I shouldn't have any real lag with almost anyone I play against...
