More or less what the title speaks, people.

I just visited cosplay.com after a long absence, and was I ever ******** dissapointed. I've never been all that much for the conversation there (staying out of the forums is a massive forte of mine,) because people tend to be one of two things:

1) too damned eliteist

or

2) fanboy/s/girl/s of the elite

So needless to say I won't even get into the massive issues I have with the cosplay.com forums.

Moving on though: has anyone looked at the 'official' photos of late? Is it just me or are the standards of the cosplay.com official people stagnating? Perhaps I was under a false impression, but I assumed that the official photo slots were reserved for the best of the best. Of late though, there has been the most random crap in there. The vast majority of it is well-made, yes, but some of it is downright lazy and shoddy showmanship.

Submitted for your example: some chick in a bloody schoolgirl costume. A SCHOOLGIRL COSTUME! And it was monochromatic. Black. With white trim. Yeah.

I don't know about you kids, but I know how much effort a schoolgirl costume takes, having done several myself, and the only impression I was left with after clicking through her photo shoot was 'she must have been damn lazy, or she was on a time-crunch before the con, or something.'

Needless to say, I was not impressed with much else that I saw there. It had either been done, or was only impressive because of the large

The one mass exception was this group here, and they are, apparently, very much into pain. (And for that they have my admiration.)

Isn't that always the case with Rose of Versailles cosplay? xd That's for master-masters.

I will jokingly submit that your mom is for master-masters.

But really though: Isn't that what the cosplay.com cosplay spotlight is for...? Master-master cosplayers? Yes? No?

In the years past, cosplay.com's forum used to have a nice friendly little place called the rant board, where "elitists" would rant about crappy cosplay, and on the other hand, those same "elitists" would post in the "Elitist cosplayers suck!" thread (whatever it was called)... about how elitist cosplayers are so mean. rofl

Eventually, and with a little cross-quotiing of the two threads, that entire forum mystically disappeared! mrgreen

I could never really get into cosplay.com. Not really sure why.

I've never had too much of a problem with cosplay.com. I'll admit that I don't like the forums or the lack or organization there, but it gives me a chance to interact with other cosplayers and ask them how they did things before I try and do it myself.

I'm pretty big on Cosplay.com right now; partially because I want to make a name for myself as a cosplayer, and partially because I have a genuine interest in what's on the site. Although, the "cosplay elitist deniers" are the first to complain about how advanced cosplayers get labelled as elitist bitches. >_>

Well, I started posting in a few threads there. I think I managed to get over whatever it was about the site that was turning me off.

Not all of the cosplay elite want to be treated like royalty, though.

Honestly I feel like you are a prime example of this in full effect, Ang. You're good at what you do, and you're not a b***h about it. I just hate the politics in the grand scheme of things (reguarding the cosplay.com forums.), you know?

Also I am sort of sick and ******** tired of seeing the same thing over and over again. But this is a differenr rant for a different day, I suppose.

Aww, thanks, Jade.

I'm tired of seeing the same cosplayers post one new photo a day to get attention and stay on the front page. Every day, a person who has had professional photography done (by ZiggyB, Admin, Godly, etc.) posts a new picture. o_O It's getting ridiculous. We KNOW you're good cosplayers, but do you need to always stay on the first few pages? It seems like they're showing off.

Also, Ouran is getting crazy-popular on C.com. The other day, there was one Ouran pic on six of the first twelve pages. o_o

They're CLEARLY showing off, which is why I don't even really visit my cosplay.com space anymore.

I am sort of sick of the bullshit attention whores, guys.

Cosplay.com - go for the photos, stay for the forums.

Although, the forums can be really boring sometimes.

IHMO the forums move really slow there or at least in the meet up and searching for cosplayers sections. and that is all i really care about these days.
