I decided to go down into the Niddry Street vaults, to feed my hunger for spooky ghostly things.

So, these vaults are under South Bridge, right? And they are haunted. If you believe in that kind of stuff.
Which I do.
Right. In these vaults, there is a Wiccan coven thing. Witches. How fun. We were not allowed to go in there. I wouldn't want to anyway, as it was very, very tacky looking.
The first vault we go in, the tour guide tells us about how people used to live down there, in the dark and filth, and how they all died when there was a huge fire.
The second vault had a stone circle in the centre of it. This was the original witches thing, but some stuff went wrong, and they accidentally summoned up something, which turned out to be somewhat evil. They reversed the circle to become a prison for this thing, but it was a rather crap circle. With gaps in it. A prison with gaps in the walls does not work. Most of the 'activity' in this vault comes from the centre of this circle.
If you'd seen Most Haunted Live (Halloween 06), you'd know that Stuart got his back sliced up after he walked through this circle. Jon's leg also bled quite badly. I was the only person in our group who has seen MHL (our guide asked.).
So anyway, the guide asked if anyone would like to stand in the circle. Everyone looked at each other. All too scared to even consider it.
Except for me, that it. I walked into the circle and turned to look at the guide. He looked back at me and said "Well, get out then!" I stood there for a bit, the last person to leave that vault.
The last vault was the most haunted of them all. Electric things tended to malfunction in there, so everyone was ordered to turn everything off – phones, cameras etc.

So, here's some advice.
When someone tells you not to walk through something that was used to prison some evil entity, listen to them.
Unless you want to see what will happen.
