!JUEGO NUMERO UNO!Alrighty. The first game that we're going to take a look at is a great party mod for the popular first-person shooter Half-Life. If you don't have Half-Life, BUY IT. It's too fantastic an experience and gateway to innovative media to pass up; true gaming history is scripted in this older FPS.
You can download Steam, the program you use to download Half-Life and games like it, from this website:
Valve SoftwareThe game is $9.95 in US currency. It's a STEAL. Get it, dudes.
InstallationOkay, now on to the mod. Supposing you now own Half-Life (it's a PC game - sorry Mac/non-bootcamp users), visit the URL here--->

Resident Evil Game? That's right - one of the greatest facets of modding is the possibility for game creation while using a game engine that allows you to import/create newer models and therefore new storylines. Resident Evil: Cold Blood strays away from almost everything you see in Half-Life (aside from generic textures and a set of vending machines) to create a sickeningly fun multiplayer experience. Feel free to use the tab system on the page to browse news, downloads, images and more. It may look pretty basic, but trust me: you're in for a doozy.
Click the download tab. You're gonna want to get the Beta 2 version (not the FGD)...so click again and follow the on-screen instructions to begin downloading. Note: you CAN sign up for ModDB if you want, their links are always pretty reliable.
Once the file has made it to your computer, run the installer. Almost right away, you'll be prompted by a popup screen that'll ask you where you want the files to be installed. If you've installed Steam the way I did, you're gonna want C://Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Half-Life. If not, locate Steam and put it in the directory with the same name, wherever the actual STEAM folder is on your hard drive. Once installed, enjoy!
PlayingWhen you actually open the game file, you'll see a nice little game screen with several options before you. Something like "Start New Game" should not be your first choice, unlike the usual game-start routine we all follow. No, instead you're going to want to get out your rosary and pray that "Join Game" will present actual servers to play on. Usually, there are more than 2...
This is where the game falters. Like many mods, there are few players on at a time. That's why I'm spreading the word to you. Let's make this thing popular!
Let's say you get a server (you probably can...). You'll be placed in a random map, with story-based team play and over 6 playable characters.
THIS is why I love the game. I'd classify it as a Specialized-Team-Based FPS mission generator that is filled with zombies. You play through an array of maps, killing, exploring and collecting until you escape your awaiting fate. Sometimes, certain characters are necessary because they have a screwdriver or a PDA in their arsenal. Some don't come with flashlights or even guns. Some run slowly - some are just too fat too squeeze in certain gaps. It's ALL about teamwork, and I love every second of it.
The FPS action is nice, but so is the fact that it's not the only thing at play here. The puzzles characters must face are as vast as they are challenging, and can even be a little humorous at times, depending on your fellow players' moods and temperaments.
All in all, this game is a GREAT diversion, and will have you, under the right circumstances, checking your watch in surprise after you've wasted the last 4 hours blowing the heads off hordes of undead.
If anyone gets the game, post here. If we can get 3, maybe 4 of us playing, we can arrange for online playtime as a group, under a server I'd create. Also, post if you have the game and Vista - I have a fix that will get this thing working for you.
