Okay, so I am speaking completely out of character by asking this, but this ponder hit me today at work. If The Cain Saga/Godchild were to ever become an American anime{I say American simply because the voice actors would be Japanese in Japan}, would Cain and friends have British accents? They ARE in London, after all. I never really pictured Cain or Jizabel with a British voice. Perhaps the White Owl or Uncle Neil, but Never any of the other characters.

I didn't at first. But after a while I sort of imagined if he did. Honestly I would like him to have an american accent. I love the british accent, but not on Cain or Oscar. Riff and Mary Weather maybe....

Yes, I am puzzled by that also. I do not believe Cain would be the greatest with an English accent. I can piece together what Riff might sound like, but it would be rather strange. The anime would be spectacular anyway, and it would be hilarious to hear the coffin maker with an English accent.

This is a tough call, first off, I may say that I've always heard Cain as being british. As have I heard many of the older men in the series with british accents.
All the girls and women do, especially Marry. She's a ten yearold british girl, good gawd, she'd have an adorable little voice. XD
However, I would like to point out that not all characters would be british. I'm sure many characters would not have british accents, since it's obvious they're probably not from around the city of fog.
...Take Ida. The Moon wouldn't have a british accent. XD If they where to give her one in an english dub of an anime... I'd die.
Jizabel is a very tough call. He's one of my favorite characters, and I find british accents so sexy... but I find it very hard to think of him with such an accent.... accept little Jizabel. I read all the little flashbacks of that poor sickly little kid and hear all his quotes in the most adorable british boys voice ever. Then again, it's hard to see a kid lying under a tree cuddling a lamb and not give him a voice that makes your heart melt. ;-;
Yet somehow he lost any trace of an accent when he grew up. lol Strange, ain't it?

Maybe it's just me but when i read that Godchild was in London i heard everybody's voice in an english accent. Well maybe not Oscar... he kinda seems all brash and American. heh... I think if they made an anime I would much rather it be subtitles anyway. <----- autenticity whore (sorry smile

Yes, Oscar does seem rather American. Some of the characters would be okay with British accents but others would have to tone it down a little. Never heard an evil character with a British accent so I can't really hear Alexis of Jizabel. But you never know. There are several other characters whose ethnicity shouldn't apply to their voice, like Allen Walker in D-Gray Man.

It would be cool for the characters to have British accents, but I don't think it would be a necessity. When I read it, I don't think of them with accents, so I probably wouldn't think too much about it when watching it.
I do agree, though, that some characters would be right with it and some wouldn't.

I dunno, me being the Jizabel-obsessed person that I am, I can kinda imagine him with the kind of cold, smooth British accent. Elegant, proper, you know. But the only other character I can imagine with an accent is Riff, and only because there's already a slew of British butlers. XD

British butlers that are the main suspects in all of the mystery stories for the murder of British aristocrats.
