Okay, I was watching the Bardock special the other day (it's just been released in a duel-disk with the Trunks special) and two things came to my mind:
1. how do you kill a planet (my friend accidently said kill instead of destroy as we were discussing it)
2. Bardock would have made a great father!!
So, ignoring the first thing, who else thinks along the same lines? If not, what do you think? And what do you think would have happened if he escaped planet Vegeta before it was destroyed?

Ok, the first question I have is this: What makes you believe that Bardock would have been a good father?

I dont think he would have been a good father.
He never gave Kakkarot a second thought before he was given the visions.
He would have gone his own way and let goku on earth.

Yeah, he didn't even want to go see him, until after he saw the first few visions.

There right bardock only cared about his son once he saw that he would be strong and what not, but I think it is good that he didnt survive if he had raised goku, then he might have grown up to be mean and not the great kind warrior grandpa Gohan taught him to be.

Well, since Turles appeared to be around Goku's age, I doubt that Bardock would have been willing to team up with someone the same age as his son.

How to kill a planet? Oh that's eeeeaaasy............ rolleyes Just destroy the core, which produces the magnetism that holds the planet together, & it just sorta goes KABOOM~! twisted
As for having Bardock as a father..............no. As bad as my own father can be sometimes, I think I'd rather have someone as smart as I am to butt heads with, rather than a Saiyan. talk2hand

First off, Turles doesn't exist in the actual dbz world... the movies are parallels that go along with the series... that and I'm almost convinced that Turles is Goku's uncle....
Second off, how can no one see it? I mean, Bardock is actually a lot more caring that most people thought. In the uncut version, he actually wipes the blood off of Tora/Toma's face right after he dies. Also, just because he was a jerk at first doesn't mean he did not change. If you remember he directly says that he would have liked to have held Goku at least once.

Again, Bardock was changed by the end of the movie/special, and that's what I'm taking into concideration. I do realize how he was prior to the visions... I mean, he does more of a 180 than Vegeta does throughout the series
