[ The G Corp Bar ]

Welcome to the bar. Pull up a stool and chill out from all that hard work in the laboratory.

The overground bar is often cold but ask at the bar and they're sure to have something to warm you up. The comfortable sofas and relaxed atmosphere make this place a unqiue experience for all those who visit. A huge television hangs on the wall played all the latest and greatest movies and all your favourite televison. An awesome sound system is rigged up for the mad party nights and the atmosphere is quite relaxed though it can get a little rowdy at times.

So get comfy and chill out.

Have a nice day...

A brief draft caused the napkins on the bar to flutter gently and warmed the faces of those it caught. A tall figure silouhetted against the door took a step forwards the lighting instantly catching his face and revealing the displeased look framed by a shock of long black hair and partially hidden by a pair of sunglasses. His heavy brown trenchcoat slung over one shoulder was dropped onto the back of a chair and the man slowly unbuttoned yet another button on the loose black shirt he wore. Small sweat patches had formed under the armpits and the aroma of too much aftershave wafted about his person like a mist. He pulled a coin from his back pocket and slapped it down on the bar when he reahced it.
"Dammit why the hell do you always keep this place so gorramed cold? And why the hell does it have to be so bloody hot outside."
After some useless grumbling about the weather, and generally his own state of being Tull looked around at the deserted bar and sighed.
"So where the hell is everyone??"

In the darkest corner of the bar the slow sound of a man loudly slurping some kind of hot beverage echoed through the dimly lit interior. The television station that played on the wall resounded the soft melody of static that rumbled along in the background banter in an almost tuneful manner.
"Honestly, people around this place always complaining about something or other."
The sound of rustling penetrated the gloom as the man stood up, his white labcoat slightly stained from what appeared to be coffee. His name tag dangled carelessly from the pocket attached with some kind of small hook.
"Barkeep, I think I may need something a little stronger. Throw a drop more whiskey into that coffee this time."
He sniffled, his nose running from the cold.

Tull slowly turned to the direction in which he thought the sound had come from. Seeing nothing he pivoted until he saw the gentleman in question. An eyebrow raised and a smirk played at the edge of his lips.
"Port my good man .... and better make it a double"
Tull grabbed the drink as it landed on the bar beside him and he took a swig the drink instantly getting to work, it's heat radiating from his stomach. His gaze flickered back towards the door and the damp footprints that followed him to the bar then back to the man in front of him.
"mmhmm, one of the 'infamous' labtechs I see. I'd level a guess at the notion you're not even clued in to the half of the goings on around here."
With a chuckle to himself he turned back towards the bar and took another swig from the glass. Tull run a hand slowly through his hair before catching it and tying it off with a piece of twine. He was well aware of who the man was. Damned if anyone didn't know him around here but it was always fun to toy with these guys, they were always so uptight about everything.
"Anyways didn't your mother tell you it was rude to slurp like a pig?"

Taos eyebrows raised above his glasses, polished and shiny but belaying his actual appearance right now- somewhat disshelved and conveying a look of absolute and utter tiredness. He toyed with the thought of just ignoring the man but why bother, the whiskey had put him in a finer spirit than normal and a friendly jibe here or there never hurt anyone, unless of course it ended up in a bar brawl. Slowly detaching his badge from his coat he tossed it towards the man.
"That there, you know what it says..."
Staring directly ahead of him he shuddered at the thought of Port as a reasonable drink. Even a sniffle of the stuff was almost enough to make him loose his lunch.
"It says I know a damn sight more than you."
The bartender set down the coffee, and promptly topped it up with whiskey. Once again Tao took a deep slurp.

Tulls hand snapped out and grabbed the badge before it had a chance to hit the bar. After a quick drink he raised the badge to his face and studied it. After a spell hmming and haaing over the plastic he tossed it back to Tao
"What I see there is a bit of plastic telling me you think you know everything important to know about this place"
With a wink he turned slowly to face the bar and took another swig from his glass. A slight tap on the bar and the barman topped the glass off this time. The age-old signal meaning, hell my shifts over, I'll be here for a while. After a somewhat large gulp he set the glass down and shuddered.
"Wheres the fire when you want it eh? D' you really think they'd give someone with access to so many parts of the facility all the details? No sir, you've been kept in the dark. No idea at all of the advances they're churning out round here"

As over confident and cocky as he at first would appear to be, Tao let out a snort, then a grunt,
"I don't think, I know. The bit of plastic is only for your kind of people. Those with a chip on their shoulder, those who need a tangible piece of material to let them know who is in charge."
Taos condescending nature was exactly the stereotypical cliche that he and his peers had been renowned for ever since the inception of G Corp.

His grin slowly broadened and Tull took another swig to hide it. How much further should he push? Coxking his head slightly to the side Tull talked to Tao whilst staring at the ruby red liquid swirling in his glass
"Ah but your manner betrays you. I have no plastic card, does that put me above or below you? Yet I know more of this place than any that work here ..... were you aware the upper echelons of this antiquated society of sorts had fled for home? we are a snake without a head."
He had no idea whatsoever if the 'higher ups' were indeed on the facility or not but they were so rarely seen it was always at the back of everyones minds. He took another slow swig from his glass then replaced it within the small red ring that had formed on the bar, and, knowing full well the facility had no deep sea project, he continued.
"Did you see that thing they pulled out of the sea? It was he-yooge, all shell and teeth too. Took out two of the subs before they got it apparently."

Tao head turned to the man for the first time, a deeply concerned frown worked its way slowly across his face. The scar down his forehead seemed to crinkle up as he loosened his shoulders up and nodded in the direction of the bartender and waited on a straight whiskey hitting the highly polished bar top on front of him.

The officials at G Corp had been to the facility, but only once to give it their stamp of approval. That had been quite a while ago, shortly after the completion of the facility.
"As your manner betrays you as well, if you did have knowledge about the board of directors, you would know better than to discuss it outside of the facility."
Thats when the thought crossed Taos mind again, this time for more than a fleeting moment, it lingered there. Could it be possible this man was a spy, an agent of sorts sent to infiltrate the base? He seemed to be poking, to be prying. Feeling out Tao for some tidbit of information.
"The thing they pulled out? I wouldn't know about that. In case you haven't noticed, I work at an arctic facility in the back end of nowhere."

Bah he would have to get suspicious... the pass was too far. The thoughts rocketed about like fireflies around Tull's brain. as he sipped on at his Port.
"If you hadn't noticed I'm sitting in this ..... well I suppose it's a little cold for a hell hole ain't it?"
He turned his head to monitor his subject and smiled.
"Anyways they took the beast down through the main hangar doors. Thing had a half eaten whale inside it's stomach. Kind of disgusting if you ask me."
Tull rose slowly easing out his joints before stepping over and lifting his coat. With a quick shrug he let it fall about his shoulders and stuffed his hands into the pockets.
"You know what I hate? ...... The cold. Bugs the s**t outta me."

Tao watched with definite unease as the man got up and donned his coat. The whiskey he had ordered finally arrived on the bar. Tao glanced at it quickly from the corner of his eye trying his best not to let the man escape his line of sight.
"Half eaten whale you say?"
Tao was stalling for time. The alarm button on his pager, used only for emergencies, beckoned his finger to press it. Better safe than sorry, and with a quiet click the silent alarm went off. The plethora of guards would be here soon.

"Why dont you tell me more about this thing they pulled out of the middle of the ocean?"
Tao nodded at the barkeep for another port and a second whiskey.
"Perhaps over another drink, on my tab of course."

Tull looked at the man and smirked he took the few paces and sat back down at the bar hoisting the port into one hand then downing it in one. He set the glass down and motioned for the barman to refill it.
"And now a sudden change in attitude. Either I've piqued your interest in whats actually happening in here or you're smarter than the other drones that 'work' here. T'was a giant squid"
Tull's hand slowly slid inside his coat and popped a button. Lifting the glass again he took a sip. The alcohol had slowly crept up on him and he felt the pangs of tipsyness closing their fangs around him. It might be best to let the barman know discreetly to switch to blackcurrant juice.

"As you said before. I'm just another drone, I just follow the rest of the collective in what we do."
Taos head lowered as he stared into the first glass of whiskey, which still sat on the bar. He waited for what seemed like an eternity but there it was. A ripple bounced itself into the glass, a low thundering from the background almost physically shook the entire bar. In once quick swallow, the first glass of whiskey was gone and Tao was already cradling the second. The door slammed open as the guards in full riot gear burst in.
"And just like all good drones I am loyal to the hive."
With that he turned he downed the second whiskey, slammed the glass to the bar and turned his back on the man.
